Unfortunately for us ravenous Geordies and any future hungry punters this restaurant/pub is now closed. Apparently their just wasn't enough trade to make it a viable business. There is only one hotel/bar/restaurant on the west side of Lewis and that's not particularly busy this week in June. (15/06/015).

We'd been camping for the last two weeks and needed something substantial - the welcome and the food were both excellent! The lasagne, chips and garlic bread were all beautiful - just the right temperature and in ample amounts. We came back the next night and just enjoyed sitting and chatting at the bar - wish we'd found this gem...

We needed to get lunch on a Sunday before for the Stornoway ferry. They opened early to help us out and we were delighted with the food and service. The dining room is nicely decorated and has an adjoining bar area with a pool table. We had fish and chips which was beautifully cooked and the kids had a tasty...

After hesitating when driving past, we then read good reviews from our campsite, so ventured in. Excellent no frills (meaning no silly garnishes) starters.. black pudding in gravy or smoked mackerel on oatcakes, followed by hearty and steaming hot fishpie served with a lot (!)of peas and sweetcorn. Only just enough room for shared sticky toffee pudding (bit dry for...

We were so pleased to see this place as we'd not packed lunch and Calanais Visitor Centre seemed too far as we left the Arnol Blackhouse. Not an auspicious beginning, no one appeared when we went in, and the woman who'd been hanging out washing was cross when she came back in and discovered this. My instinct was to ask...

We booked our table at the Inn Between at the last minute after a trip out on Seatrek. Christina was helpful even though we had to make a few mobile calls due to a dodgy signal, and booked in our party of nine (adults and kids) with no problem. The menu was not vast, but I always find that reassuring...

I have to say we didn't actually eat here. The menu looked fairly limited, I think it was a choice of 3 starters and about 5 mains. I saw steak but it was with a mustard type mash and I can't eat mustard so asked for it without. I was told the dishes could not be changed and I couldn't...

There aren't many places to eat, especially after 5pm, on the west side of Lewis, and we didn't fancy the Doune Braes Hotel, having had indifferent food there previously. Asking at the Hebridean Soap Company, they recommended The Inn Between at Shawbost, just a few miles up the road from where we were (Carloway). What a Find! Doesn't look anything...

My dad and i got to the inn between after wandering around Lewis all day and we were warmly welcomed. Had a good diner, a good night at the bar and even got to play pool and meet some locals. This inn is a good way to expirience Isle of Lewis. The whole staff is a colourfull bunch of nice...
