Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had booked a 4 night stay with our motorhome, but while touring around Scotland we rang them and asked if we could go 2 days earlier. They were very accommodating, so we stayed for 6 nights. We love this site and previously stayed last September. The owners and staff are very helpful and friendly. The site is well maintained and clean. They have taken on-board the Covid advice and rules and only allow 3 persons in the toilet/shower facilities at a time. Hand sanitiser stations are at the shower block and office areas, as well as at the fresh water and chemical grey waste areas. The showeroom/toilets are spotless and are cleaned 4 times a day. You can also purchase meat, sausages, burgers and steaks from the office, which is produce from the owners farm. The venison burgers and beef sausages are lush. Motorhomes, campervan and tents are welcome at this site with lovely views over the Sound of Mull. This site is dog friendly. A wonderful stay and will be coming back again as I'm determined to see the otters.

I found this place on a previous trip and couldn't wait to return and try it for myself.

The welcome was friendly, booking was easy via email address on the website and the confirmation was fast. Pay on arrival.

The pitches here all have sensible spacing, most with electricity (if you need it - I don't). The grass and ground is good - great to feel cool grass underfoot. The facilities are first class, sensible but not paranoid about social distancing, detol wipes/spray for everyone to use in the wash house. Space to freeze ice blocks, washing machine/drier for use. Immaculate showers and toilets, mops and squeegees for cleaning up after yourself.

This is well run site by a friendly family, we saw 3 generations about and all equally enthusiastic. The site has a great walk to shoreline, absolutely stunning views. It was quiet at night and only 20 mins from Craignure, 10 mins from Fishnish and 5 mins to Salen.

Dont stay anywhere else ... I won't be.

Lovely site with great views. Good sized hard standing pitches with grassy spaces between them which are ideal if you have a dog. One of the best and cleanest toilet blocks I have come across on a campsite. Good washing up facilities and kettle and toaster also available.

Well marked dog walk around campsite

Very impressed with the adherence to COVID rules, good system for limiting access to toilet facilities

In a truly beautiful location with both beach and hills to look at, and some friendly cows too! The ground here seems to have been filled with a LOT of hardcore and as such I bent about half my tent pegs trying to hammer them into the ground which wasn't a great start.
As with all places struggling with Covid right now, measures have been put in place in the bathrooms which are less than brilliant. Although the facilities are cleaned regularly and are absolutely some of the cleanest showers and toilets I've ever seen, the social distancing system is unhygienic and problematic. You're required to take one of three plastic tags INTO the toilets/shower with you, then pass it on to the next person when you leave. Taking something into the toilet is unsanitary at the best of times, but creates an additional contact point between all visitors. There's also a code on the door, which I feel should be removed in order to again not have lots of transfer. I waited at least 15 minutes for the toilet, only to find that there were 2 people in the showers (so socially distanced from anyone needing the toilet!) and as such the 4 toilets were unoccupied, frustrating many other people queuing when I let them know!
The WiFi was also non-existent for 2 days due to a fault, but when I asked the owner about this she got pretty snappy with me. Running on the other 2 days but very slow and glitchy.
Overall, it's a well kept and well positioned campsite and I'd probably go again if Covid is cleared up and the above bathroom issues would no longer occur.

Great campsite - facilities were so clean and strong measures in place for Covid to control the number of people using shared facilities (thank you!). Location great with beautiful views across the water, and a nice coastal path walk marked out by the campsite. About 15 mins drive from Craignure ferry port. Loved the cows next to the coastal path walk!

What a fantastic wee site! On the road between Craignure and Tobermory, it's ideally placed for exploring the Isle of Mull. Great facilities that are kept spotless, small kitchen area with a fridge, freezer, kettle and microwave as well as a washing machine and tumble dryer. Always plenty of hot water no matter how busy it gets. Great sea views, from a level site. Owners are really helpful and friendly. Dog friendly site, and ideal for kids too. Wifi is available but intermittent and 4G doesn't seem to extend there but there's plenty of incredible sunsets, and wild birds to watch. Nearby hotel serving decent food and Salen about 5 minute's drive away has an excellent Spar that is much cheaper than the co-op in Tobermory. Lots of pitches with EHU for tents, campervans and caravans, and also 3 glamping pods. 10/10

We stayed for 8 nights & will definately be back as there is still so much of beautiful Mull to visit & enjoy.
The site is spacious & most pitches have scenic views of the Sound of Mull & you can watch the Calmac ferries sailing to & from Oban.
The site is well placed centrally to explore Mull, Iona, Ulva & a trip to Staffa with Fingal's cave. No pictures or tv coverage does the cave justice, it is breathtaking & the Turus Mara crew were excellent.
We ate at the Glenforsa Hotel about a 15 mins walk from site & the Boathouse on Ulva and recommend both. We can also recommend the butcher meat which is available from Fiona at reception.
The facilities on site were modern & spotless. There is regular cleaning & notices reminding people that masks must be worn. Hand sanitiser was available at all doors as well as CDP & water filling areas. Recycling was available too.
This was truly the best break that we've had in a long time.
No internet connection on site but you can catch up when visiting the Glenforsa Hotel or the Calmac terminals & I have to say this only added to the tranquillity.
Fiona & her family are providing a wonderful facility for campers & we hope to be back soon.

Spent a wonderful 3 nights here, the view is outstanding and the facilities spotless. The pitches are very well spread-out unlike many locations in the western isles. Very close to the ferry port for a quick getaway to catch a ferry if needed. Owners refunded me £30 when I arrived as i didn't bring my glawning which I had on my original booking. Will definitely be back !

We went a week before schools broke up, so keep this in mind.  15-20mins drive from the ferry and abit more toTobermory.
Campsite; tents, motor homes, campervan and has 2 glamping pods.
We pitched up at the far left of the site, the sea was visable over a low hedge.  A short walk along a  very stoney path takes you down to the sea edge, very peaceful and lovely views.

Campsite had picnic benches scattered around, reception desk, laundry room, kettle, outside washing up sinks and toilet block.

With Covid still looming over us, a tally system was in place for toilets and showers.

It was busy with only 2 showers so go very early or late. A polite notice asks you to leave the area as you'd like to find it.  A bucket/ mop are available for the showers and antibacterial wipes for the sink areas.  At times though sinks were left with toothpaste and hair in, which was a shame.
Will definitely stay again

I stayed at Pennygown for 3 out of 4 nights and the booking in and site allocation was very streamlined. Nice clean wash/bathroom area. Lovely people running the site who were helpful when required. Short walk to the edge of the water and a nice pub 10-15 mins walk away for stunning food

Pennygowan is only about half an hours drive from the port....& you probably could just turn up-but the 1st is a week away-so it’s worth just giving them a call to be absolutely sure.....
