Detailed Reviews
My husband and I stayed here two nights at the end of our Scotland trip. We selected Lumsdaine because of its location just outside Linlithgow and the convenience of the train into Edinburgh. We made an excellent choice and thoroughly enjoyed the small farm setting. Margaret is a gracious hostess and was very helpful with information on local attractions. Delicious and healthy breakfasts. Highly recommend Lumsdaine for a charming, quiet stay.

+1
We have stayed here many times over the years.
The house is amazing with large, spacious bedrooms & some of the biggest bathrooms available anywhere. The house is absolutely spotless & the decor lovely.
Margaret is the best host you will get anywhere & absolutely nothing is too much trouble. Peter is also lovely & both are very knowledgeable about the area etc.
This is one of the best guest houses in the U.K.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Scotland and Ireland and this was our first BnB of our trip and oh my goodness did they set such a high standard! These two are the sweetest people you'd ever meet! They treated us like family and provided the most incredible accommodations! We had a beautiful spacious room with our own private bathroom and shower. Bed was comfy and toasty. and breakfast the next morning was absolutely scrumptious! After our meal, we chatted and were soon on our way again, but I think of these people often and hope one day we will revisit Scotland and see them again!

It was lovely meeting Margaret (and her puppy Arlo)! Unfortunately we only got to stay for one night due to a round trip being planned by an agency, but in that time we were very well taken care of. The room was very tidy, and the breakfast was very nice indeed. Definitely recommended if you're looking for a place to stay near or around Edinburgh!

This is the best B&B we have ever stayed in, and are already thinking of going back. Wonderful welcome, fantastic breakfast with lovely fresh fruit, and as much cooked breakfast as you could eat! The room was beautiful, with all the little details making it so special. Absolutley spotlessly clean, and Margaret was really helpful & friendly, even booking us a table at a nearby restaurant for an evening meal as we arrived later than anticipated. I will definately have no hesitation in recommending Lumsdaine House to everyone who is looking to stay in Scotland.

We stayed here a couple of weeks ago and Margaret the owner was lovely. The breakfast was amazing and much to my wife's joy very healthy. It was a great central base for exloring the local area. Highly recommended.

We have stayed at several B&Bs in and around Linlithgow, some of them several times. All of them were good, but this is the one we'll go back to next time.
It's a modern, spacious, comfortable, and very quiet house. The furniture and decor are perhaps more like those of a hotel than of a private house, but it's all very good-quality stuff in immaculate condition. Margaret is a fine hostess. We had let her know we couldn't arrive till mid-evening, but she still cheerfully offered tea and coffee when we turned up as if it were mid-afternoon. Breakfast was excellent, with the bonus of a lovely view from the breakfast room. (No, it's not the canal aqueduct in the distance, it's the railway viaduct - much more attractive than it might sound).
We like this place. Our previous favourite B&B near Linlithgow had become just a touch fussy on our last visit. So from now on, we'll go back to Lumsdaine.
