My husband and I stayed here two nights at the end of our Scotland trip. We selected Lumsdaine because of its location just outside Linlithgow and the convenience of the train into Edinburgh. We made an excellent choice and thoroughly enjoyed the small farm setting. Margaret is a gracious hostess and was very helpful with information on local attractions. Delicious and healthy breakfasts. Highly recommend Lumsdaine for a charming, quiet stay.

It was lovely meeting Margaret (and her puppy Arlo)! Unfortunately we only got to stay for one night due to a round trip being planned by an agency, but in that time we were very well taken care of. The room was very tidy, and the breakfast was very nice indeed. Definitely recommended if you're looking for a place to stay near or around Edinburgh!

We have stayed here many times over the years. The house is amazing with large, spacious bedrooms & some of the biggest bathrooms available anywhere. The house is absolutely spotless & the decor lovely. Margaret is the best host you will get anywhere & absolutely nothing is too much trouble. Peter is also lovely & both are very knowledgeable about the area etc. This is one of the best guest houses in the U.K.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Scotland and Ireland and this was our first BnB of our trip and oh my goodness did they set such a high standard! These two are the sweetest people you'd ever meet! They treated us like family and provided the most incredible accommodations! We had a beautiful spacious room with our own private bathroom and shower. Bed was comfy and toasty. and breakfast the next morning was absolutely scrumptious! After our meal, we chatted and were soon on our way again, but I think of these people often and hope one day we will revisit Scotland and see them again!

We stayed here a couple of weeks ago and Margaret the owner was lovely. The breakfast was amazing and much to my wife's joy very healthy. It was a great central base for exloring the local area. Highly recommended.

We went back to Margret and her Lumsdaine B&B. A very nice B&B with a very nice landlady with a fantastic humourus style. Always a cup of tea ready and time for a chat. There are nice walks along the Union Canal and river Avon. This is our fifth night at Margret´s. There will hopefully be more.

This a a wonderful family home and accomodation. Margaret is a wonderful host, welcoming you and making you feel special. She is very knowledgeable about the local area - she was born and raised there, and can assist with all manner of suggestions to fill a day or a few hours. Lumsdaine House is elegantly decorated with special touches everywhere to add to the comfort of guests. The beds are warm and comfy and the towels soft and fluffy. All facilities are impeccably clean, including outside and those immaculate lawns, and reflect Margaret and John's attention to detail. Breakfast was a feast, and Margaret packed us a brilliant selection to take to our early morning flight, so thoughtful. I felt spoilt cleaning my teeth in cut glass drinking glasses, and loved the way her old dad took the cows for their daily exercise across the paddocks.…

Excellent room in a scenic country setting. Woke up to the sound of happy free-range chickens outside. Lovely canal walk nearby. Margaret, the host, was extremely welcoming and accommodating. She made sure I had a delicious vegan breakfast (despite being told by the tour company that I was celiac). Highly recommended!
