My husband and I completely enjoyed our stay at Newport House. First came the warm welcome at the front door by Declan, the owner. Second, this historic home is a wonderful place to ponder Irish history as well as discuss the present. The library is full of Irish history and sightseeing resources. Our room offered all the comforts: great shower with immediate hot water, comfortable beds, a little balcony to sit with a glass of wine while listening to the doves (pigeons), coffee/tea at hand, and a full Irish breakfast. Declan was a wonderful host, with a great sense of history and good humor. Thanks to him, I learned more about my Irish Co. Clare ancestors including an unusual anecdotal story of my 3rd great grandfather and his cow who bore quadruplets, which he found in a news article from the early 1800's. He guided my ancestry research with good solid advice and more possible relative leads. Thanks to Declan, we found gravestones in nearby Ennistymon that cleared up some mysteries. Walk 5 minutes to a pub with hearty food, and even Chinese next door, a pharmacy, and a grocery store. A 30 minute walk into town offers lots of traditional pubs and historical sites. We stayed three nights and wished it could have been longer. Thank you, Declan and Bernie, for sharing your family home and all the thoughtful and stimulating conversation!! Patti & Darrell

We had a joint Birthday party, baby shower for my husband and myself and our friends. So we all stayed at New park house. What an experience there was nothing more that could have been done for us. So professional and kind service the best iv ever experienced. We are so very grateful 🙏 We were so lucky we could book all the rooms Xxxx Everything was so unique furniture, history, the grounds immaculately clean inside and out like spotless, power shower no shortage of hot water or wather pressure. And rooms all on suite bathrooms , large luxury rooms and a balcony looking out onto walled gardens. Enjoyed the stars at night a very special place indeed. Like travelling back in time a hidden gem so close to ennis town. We had full irish very decent presentation gorgeous homemade bread and fruit cake. We will stay again and recommend to all our friends and family it will be a place to have memories in the future that we will remember and hold dear to our hearts always Xxxx Kindest regards from Grace & Milos

Newpark House is a beautiful and quiet place to stay. The house is very historic and is furnished that way. The rooms are charming, the breakfast offering is abundant and served in a beautifully-decorated dining room. The host is friendly and accommodating. I have been to Ireland three times in the last four years and Newpark House is my favorite place to stay.

We loved our stay here. The home is beautiful and we enjoyed learning more of it's history as we got to know our host Declan over the five nights we stayed here. Our room was spacious and we enjoyed waking up to the sounds of birds each morning. Breakfast was relaxing and served in a beautiful dining room.

We enjoyed our stay at Newpark House so very much. Everything about it was great - beautiful country house; large, comfortable room and en-suite bath; beautiful grounds; conveniently located; delicious breakfasts served in the beautifully appointed dining room. Our host Declan was so helpful and accommodating, and his mother’s soda bread was delicious!! The attention to detail and providing comforts and amenities was outstanding.

We first met the donkeys in the field out front, then Charlie, an incredibly friendly dog. From there it was a continual pleasant surprise. The room was lovely, the bed comfy, and the genealogy and sitting rooms comfy.

The proprietor was very helpful in seeking for the roots of my wife’s family.

Breakfast was heaven and you won’t find tastier brown or fruit bread anywhere… made by the lady of the house without a recipe. The leftovers came with us. The eggs too were tasty and fresh from the chickens on the property.

If you want a wonderful place to stay, this is it.

We enjoyed a wonderful two-night stay at Newpark House. The host and his Mom are extremely attentive, the inn is historic, quite charming, and very comfortable, and the shower was excellent. The full Irish breakfast is hearty and very tasty. We enjoyed the resident pups and donkeys :)

Declan made the group a fantastic breakfast with many varieties to choose from. The library was full of references to seek out your ancestry, or to read the various writings from the owner himself.
The home itself has some historical family stories which make an interesting read.

Recommended.

We had a great and unique experience at New Park House. The house itself is the coolest b&b I’ve ever stayed in. It’s not scary or anything but If you like old, spooky vibes, you’ll love it even more. The house has a long history and the people who run it are the owners. I like knowing that we were supporting a family business.

The rooms and the bathroom were clean. Very lovely and antique furniture and feels clean and well-kept. Water pressure and temperature in the shower was just perfect. Breakfast was delicious. The town is close enough—20 min walking distance. Sometimes we took a cab back home and it’s was €12.

Overall perfect stay. We enjoyed it so much.

Our hosts, Bernie and Declan, have cared for this family home and maintained its history. Yes, it is OLD; Do not expect central air. Expect a peek at the history of this house which is well documented in a room just off the entry hall. Step back in time. Enjoy the serene location and charming hospitality. Our rooms were comfortable, and our breakfasts were wonderful.

Is there any transportation into town center? I am a bit limited in walking any distance.
Answer from barbdan2014
Springfield, Massachusetts16 contributions7 helpful votes
It is probably about 1 mile into town center from Newpark House. Several quests have walked to town while we were there. You could call for a taxi. Your best bet is to contact Declan at Newpark House to see if any buses go to the shopping center about 1/4 mile up the road or how much a taxi might cost. The center of town is a lot of walking, but worth the effort to see all it's quaint nook and cranny side streets. We hope you get to enjoy it.
