The world famous Shelbourne Hotel is a timeless landmark in the heart of Dublin. Located only 9km from Dublin Airport, The Shelbourne overlooks the magnificent St. Stephen’s Green, and is just seconds from the city’s sights and shops, commerce and culture. But the connection to Ireland’s capital runs far deeper than location. Founded in 1824, The Shelbourne, a Renaissance Hotel is a place where history has been made – the Irish Constitution was drafted, literary masterpieces were penned and society was shaped. Today, as part of the worldwide Renaissance brand, the hotel has been dramatically restored to its full original splendour. Each of the 265 bedrooms are unique, but they all share a sense of charm, style and above all quality…100% Egyptian cotton bedding by Rivolta Carmignani, elegant marble bathrooms with luxury amenities, flat-screen televisions, high speed internet access and climate control. The Shelbourne has 19 beautifully appointed suites, 12 of which are named after famous guests who have stayed at the hotel, such as Princess Grace, John F. Kennedy and Michael Collins and Eamonn De Valera. At the very heart of Dublin’s very best times for almost 200 years, The Shelbourne continues to be the city’s favourite hotel for fine food and drinks in an incomparable environment for generations of Dubliners. The Shelbourne offers a superb choice of dining venues; The Saddle Room, a modern steak and seafood restaurant, The Lord Mayor’s Lounge which serves Dublin’s only true afternoon tea, the renowned Horseshoe Bar and No. 27 Bar & Lounge, the place to see and be seen in Dublin! The hotel features a luxurious Spa offering six treatment rooms, including a suite for two people to share their spa experience together, a manicure and pedicure area as well as an opulent relaxation room. A 17.5m swimming pool, thermal facilities, dance studio and state-of-the-art gymnasium complete the facilities.

Although the hotel is going through some renovation and you cannot go through the main entrance, the staff are friendly and always have a smile to help you. My room is amazing, great bed, a good working desk and large bathroom. I can’t wait to come back when the renovations are

I have been wanting to stay at this hotel for a long time, however it was very disappointing. The hotel is under construction and we booked this about 9 months in advance, however were not advised of the construction until about a week before, which was too late to try and

Unfortunately the entire front entrance area of the hotel has been closed off. You enter through a side door and have to take stairs to get to a room where check in occurs. This really takes away from the ambiance of the hotel and is a nuisance. You find yourself going down

A group of four of us stayed here the 19th of January, although it was not my first visit it never disappoints us. We checked in earlier than planned but was advised by Miriamma that the room would be ready shortly, she was kind enough to call me on my mobile as soon as the room

I enjoyed lunch in this beautiful hotel with work colleagues. 3 courses came to €30 each. It was a special treat with sophisticated surroundings. The service was excellent. Although the hotel is currently being rennovated it is still a beautiful place for a meal or drink.

Sorry. I don’t have an actual answer but I would be shocked if they didn’t have tea as they do it beautifully and it is in high demand.

I really don't think the Shelbourne is worth dropping in on, especially currently with the ground floor being under renovation for a couple months. Definitely agree with "it's just a hotel." Not worth "visiting/"

The restoration began just AFTER New Years and is "planned" for three months (we know how plans can change.) So you need to hear from someone who's there now. My strong guess, given how well-managed the hotel is, there will be little impact, with the possible exception of someone coming in from the U.S. and hoping to sleep as soon as they get into their room. In that case, I would try very hard to get a relatively high floor room to be sure not to be disturbed. Of course, you'll still hear street/alley noise. Dublin is not a city know for being quiet.

"Can't comment as the construction work meant lots of detours and people were constantly lost"
"Avoid as they are doing major construction"
"Rooms facing the office buildings are quieter, but the view is dull as imaginable."
"Check everything with the bellman present before agreeing to the room."
"for a real view, avoid the 6th floor"
