Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The bed was comfortable and a bed bug check was done before we even took our coats off! The room was clean and the bathroom was nice. Very basic though. You are paying hotel prices for a hostel. No tea or coffee making facilities, no hairdryer, one plug socket. No toiletries. The towels are tiny! And you only get one each. When a premier Inn has these facilities for £39 a night, it is definitely overpriced for what it is. We didn't eat there because it was far too studenty for us but we had coffee and that was reasonable and tasty. We hardly spent anytime there at all, really just to sleep and shower. It's not he kind of place to chill out

I was quite pleasantly surprised with Jacobs Inn. I stayed in a 10 person all womens room and I had a great time. The rooms are clean and the bathroom is actually quite nice. The only grievances I had were the showers and the plugs. The only plugs in the bed cabins were usb ports so no apple phone chargers or laptop chargers. The worst thing though is the shower timer. They say the water turns off after 15 seconds however it varied and often turned off after less than 10 seconds. Thats an incredibly annoying feature but overall tolerable for the price.

This hostel is an introvert’s dream! If you are like me and choose a hostel based solely for budget reasons and not for the ‘social’ aspect, I absolutely recommend this place. This was my first time staying at a hostel, I was a bit anxious because I am autistic and if I am out and about all day I need alone (horizontal) time. This is why I chose the 4 girls’ dorm and this was the perfect fit. You can close your curtain so you are completely in your own cacoon, which was perfect for me to recharge. Also, for my fellow autistics/ introverts check in/out can be done online, apart from the digital keys explanation (which was a new concept for me) you can have an almost entirely contactless stay :)

I thought this was a fantastic hostel, quick and easy check in and out, all staff was lovely and helpful, food was decent, place was clean, well located and rooms were clean with private pods. Lots of storage space, in suite shower and bathroom plus extras on your floor. Would highly recommend and would stay again for sure. One of my faves ❤️

The dormitory was awesome, clean, maintained brilliantly. The services by the hostel and its staff were absolutely awesome. And the bar was exceptional, all staff were fantastic, with a very special mention to JESUS. Very professional, friendly and genuinely showed everyone a wonderful time. Warm regards, Kerry Dawson. 👍👄❤️

Other than the price, this place was an absolute treat to stay in. The breakfast was reasonably priced and very good, the rooms were clean and the pods were very nice. They also have towels and fans provided for you. Their staff were all very friendly and experienced and all spoke excellent English.

Been here just two nights. Great experience, friendly staff! It was my first time in a hostel, no too bad. All the staff been helpful and friendly. They organised a free city tour, open to everybody want to join. In the night live music or music bingo (with a free drink if you win).

Jorge behind the bar made my time in Jacob’s inn amazing. He was so friendly and always willing to help whenever it was needed. The rest of the staff were great too but he definitely deserves a raise! The place is clean and there’s a nice bar and rooftop terrace which is good for meeting new people.

I stayed at the Jacobs Inn for a single night in August and thoroughly enjoyed! As I had an early morning flight, I was offered to leave my luggage in the luggage room so I could go out and explore straight away! It’s very conveniently located behind the main bus station in Dublin, which makes it perfect for those solo travelling. I booked a private room, which was overlooking quite a busy railway line, which was my only complaint but it did the job for a night! Honestly could’ve stayed for a few more nights. I did enjoy a few pints in the evening, which I found to be reasonably price. There was a trivia night on in the bar area, free for all to join in and for solo travellers like myself so socialise. Despite the bar closing at 10, my trivia group and I did go out into the city for the evening - good vibes all round! This was my second time in Dublin and should I need to return in the future for a night stay, I will definitely consider staying here!

Hi. I am not keen on hostel living. However, I have had three pleasant experiences at hostels. At Jacobs’s Inn I am pleased with the service of front desk staff Maria, Valentina, Arthur, Willians, and Keith. Keith showed me incredible kindness and compassion through a rough patch. Willians always has a pleasant aura and helped me find a great barber during my stay. I love the pods instead of bunk beds and actual lockers instead of cages. I prefer staying alone as I need my own space but at Jacobs Inn I didn’t mind being around other people. The hostel is very clean the housekeeping staff is constantly cleaning and that’s a plus for me as someone who is super anxious about cleanliness. The downside to hostel living is sharing showers with people who don’t clean up after themselves, When I return to Dublin in January will stay at Jacobs Inn again and checkout private room.
