Russell's B&B was by far our favorite stay in a 3-week trip around Ireland and the UK. It was spotless, roomy, comfortable, and so well appointed. It was filled with art and mementos from all over (including a show in our home state of Louisiana!) When we walked in, the place smelled of fresh-baked lemon slice cake. The breakfast was amazing and catered to allergies. Russell sat with each of the guests and shared great recommendations for what to do in the area. The location was very near the center of town and a few minutes' walk from all major attractions. Parking was safe and around the back of the house. We'd love to come back!

Russell and Emer are fabulous hosts, as well as their lovely staff (Drew & company). You will not find people who are more friendly or accommodating. Be sure to ask someone for day trip ideas from Galway because they have some great ideas as well as food suggestions around Connemara. All the details in their BnB are spot on...from the art throughout the house to the room designs to the organic soaps in every room, to the albums that play at breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, just really, really delicious, high-quality made from scratch food. The location is also great! It's an easy 5 minutes stroll into the best part of town for restaurants, shops, and pubs. I can't say enough about The Stop. It's our favorite BnB in Ireland and we've visited 15+ times.

We had a wonderful stay at the Stop and highly recommend it, especially for those who want a cozy, tasteful, and quiet B&B close (but not in) the action of central Galway. The location was great - a 20 minute walk to the train station, 10-15 minute walk into the city center, and a 5 minute walk to the bars/restaurants of the west end. The rooms were small but cozy and well-designed, and the whole place had a "welcoming art gallery" vibe. Russell was a friendly and helpful host, quick with suggestions and willing to help (e.g. helping us get our laundry done on a holiday weekend). The breakfast was also delicious!

The Bedroom was very small and the the Bathroom was tiny,in fact it only measured 29" across. The Bed was entirely homemade from Hardboard, and the Mattress was also Very hard. The pillows were hard and cheap, and there was no TV in the room.In a B&B with i think 12 rooms this saves a lot of money per Annum. The breakfast i got was Tea with 2 Sausages on 1 Slice of Sourdough Bread with a uncooked Red Cabbage on the side. My wife had fried Mushrooms on Sourdough Bread and Tea,i can assure you after that Breakfast we had a very early Lunch. You will find it hard in any B&B in Ireland to get a Breakfast with ingredients that cost less than the one at The Stop. The charge to stay at The Stop is at the higher end of the scale, yet a lot is done on the cheap. Would i stay again NO !!

The good points are, its location, very handy to walk into Galway centre. It has limited off street parking. It has quirky and imaginative decor.

What we didn't like was that our room was very small with limited wardrobe space, limited space to put your luggage, so some went on the floor of this very tiny room. The wash basin was in the bedroom and the ensuite bathroom was tiny! It was like taking a shower in a coffin. The breakfast was small, a cheese and bacon bagel and toast.

After reading some of the reviews, this accommodation did not meet our expectations. It was a lot more expensive than some of the other more luxurious hotels that we had stayed in during our tour and for what we paid I was expecting much more. I felt we had been exploited.

Would we stay here again? It's a definite no and we cannot recommend The Stop.

Arrived Sat 21st 3 friends for girls break..warmly welcomed by Selina and shown to a lovely room.Feels like a home from home...the delicious smell of home baking wafting through the house.
Russell the owner came especially to our room door to say hello after we were settled in and was very knowledgeable about best places to eat and have a few drinks this I thought was so good and is the personal touch you don't get with bigger establishments.
The breakfast absolutely fabulous I could never do it justice writing here but beautiful buffet of organic locally sourced food...the nicest coffee I have ever tasted. The Brioche buns are super....we rolled out of there after breakfast!
This place is very well located short stroll to shop street and the other way to the promenade.to all the staff thank you so much and I can't wait to bring others back to Galway

I stayed with 5 friends in 'The Stop' for a weekend and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The booking process was made so easy for us. Check in was so smooth - helped by the smell of fresh baking when we arrived. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully designed. The breakfast is full of homemade and local produce. The staff are welcoming and full of advice. Many thanks to Russell and the team.

We had a wonderful stay Russell and his team were so engaging and helpful. Nothing was a problem. Our room was clean and compact. Breakfast was fantastic and the homemade sweet biscuits were yummy. These people care about your stay and if you want economic accommodation this is the place for you, it is close to the Latin Quarter and also close to pubs and restaurants nearby. Recommend a pizza at the Mona Lisa Restaurant on the Westside not far from The Stop. Well done Russell and his team.

Our family stayed 2 nights. We immediately loved the vibe, ambiance and relaxed friendly and welcoming feeling you got from the place. The owner and staff did everything they could to make our stay the best possible experience. The little things, like cool music playing in the dining area, comfortable lounge area, fresh baked cookies and clean neat and sweet rooms. Breakfast was 5-star. Accommodated gluten allergy effortlessly and wonderfully. Lots of choices for breakfast. And only 10min. walk downtown to the City Centre. Parking for our rental car was a nice bonus. Galway was our last destination of a week long road trip and staying at The Stop was the best B&B the whole trip! They’re award-winning for a reason!

Russell and crew were the absolute best. The Stop is a beautifully curated experience with delicious homemade breakfast, a well decorated space that is styley and cozy, amazing music (they were spinning vinyl for breakfast every morning), great recommendations on local spots to eat, drink, and hear music, and just an overall wonderful experience. 10/10 would recommend. 👌 We found that everything Russell recommended turned out to be amazing, and are still listening to his custom Spotify playlist!
