The Pembroke Kilkenny hotel garners praise for its spacious and comfortable rooms, although there are occasional remarks on the dated decor and upkeep. Its cleanliness stands out, with many guests highlighting the spotless conditions.
The range of amenities, including the convenient location, varied breakfast, and commendable staff, contribute to the hotel's appeal, while free WiFi and parking are added perks. Despite mixed views on its value, the hotel's central proximity to key sites and a relaxed atmosphere with enjoyable live music make it a popular choice for many travelers.

Our kids gave us a quick Spa break for a night. We arrived at about 4 P.M. and were checked in sharply as we had a massage booked for 4.30. We parked in the securely gated park at the side of the hotel. The hotel is very much Covid friendly as everything is contactless.
Th rooms were spotless and very comfortable.
We went for our massages which were absolutely fabulous.
We booked dinner for 7.30 at Stathams. Staff here were very friendly and attentive. The menu was quite appealing and very tasty. The prices most reasonable, we shared a starter, had 2 main courses, 2 desserts and 2 coffees all for €51.
For breakfast we were seated and given a well presented compostable cardboard box which contained Continental breakfast for 2. We then ordered a freshly cooked breakfast from the kitchen.
Everything about this hotel was very innovative and professional and well prepared for these Covid times.
All food sourced from local suppliers.
We were very impressed and hope to return there in the near future.

My friend and I recently stayed in the lovely Pembroke Hotel for 2 nights. We booked our stay through the Original Irish Hotels Group, renowned for their reliable, properties across Ireland. We were not disappointed.
Upon arrival, Courtney was so welcoming and could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the attentive and hard working staff members that we encountered.
The bedroom was very clean and the Nespresso machine was welcomed.
Breakfast was delicious and served promptly. We were big fans of the takeaway continental box full of fresh Irish produce.
The hotel appeared ‘Covid-proof’ and we felt very safe throughout our stay. I like how the hotel has gone to extra efforts to even make the elevator and bedroom doors ‘contactless’.
We really could not fault our stay in this hotel. It’s location is very central and we were within walking distance to a variety of local amenities. We look forward to returning in the near future.

Stayed for a night a fortnight ago and was really looking forward to a first post lockdown night away.
Kilkenny itself was lovely and an italian restaurant across from the castle was outstanding but the hotel was so disappointing.
Even allowing for Covid distancing the hotel was soulless and lacking any welcome,
A cursory acknowledgment at reception on arrival - no welcome, nothing along the lines of "what can we do to make your stay enjoyable" Room clean but lacking warmth or comfort.
Breakfast - really poor. A tray brought out with one mini pastry. per person, apple juice, whole pieces of fruit and an inedible jar of what had the consistency of cold porridge.
A limited selection of warm breakfasts.
If you're going to do a breakfast tray then at least ask the guests what they would like on it. Would a simple fruit salad be too much to ask for? Many other hotels have not done away with a breakfast buffet, rather they have a chef serving (like a carvery). Covid shouldnt be an excuse to dumb down on customer service
Will be back to Kilkenny but not to the Pembroke

Hi Deckie, thank you for your review. We are very sorry to hear about your experience. We have had to make changes, as advised by the Irish Government, for the health and safety of our guests and staff, and are trying to do the best we can. Our staff have many new and very different procedures to remember that are paramount to guest safety and I apologise if you felt this affected service. Please bear with us during a tough transitional period.

I stayed here with my partner and we were very impressed with all aspects of the hotel. It would be a beautiful hotel at any time, and we found the adjustments made for COVID excellent too. The lift is hands free so you don't need to touch anything to use it, all wait staff in the restaurant and breakfast room wore masks, the continental breakfast was given in an individual box and there were many hand sanitizer stations set up around the hotel. We had a very comfortable and pleasant staycation here and would highly recommend it!

Visited this hotel last weekend Staff were brilliant, everyone we met was so friendly and helpful.
The hotel is extremely clean and things like touchless lift buttons made it feel very safe from a covid point of view.
Given the price of a one night stay the rooms were clean and comfortable but basic enough.
The main downside of our stay was the food. The restaurant evening menu was very limited. One of our meals was not hot and given the meal prices the portion size was pretty small.
Breakfast had lots of options but again one of the meals was not as hot as you would expect.

Stayed for a couple of nights. Hotel is well set up for Covid, using contactless access in lifts, sanitisers etc. Breakfast well thought out (and great quality). Rooms good and spacious.
Location excellent, a short distance from the main attractions in the city.
We had to cut our trip short due to a family emergency. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful.
Hope to be back again soon.

This hotel was really exceptional. The room wasn't ready til 3 but we could leave our luggage with them so that we could enjoy the city. Dinner on both nights was excellent and the cocktails were brilliant although slightly slow. The room was modern, clean and the air conditioning was great (25+ degrees the week we went), and when we requested extra amenities we were pleasantly surprised to receive a full box of towels, cups, condiments, and toiletries. The only small con was the lack of parking, as we had to park a 5-10 minute walk away.
Overall brilliant service, location, food and drink. Definitely return.

Hi lorcans999 Thanks so much for your kind comments :) Check-in is from 4pm but guests are welcome to arrive earlier and leave their luggage with us. The air conditioning is a fantastic feature to have for our guests, we are the only city centre hotel with aircon in the bedrooms. We have two car parks for guests, one at the back of the hotel and the other is a 3 minute walk just up the street. The bar & kitchen teams will be thrilled to hear your feedback about dinner and cocktails. Looking forward to your next visit, Edel

We stayed here for a night after enjoying a day of shopping and an evening out in Kilkenny. The hotel is in a great location we found it easy to walk to everywhere we wanted to explore. We ate in the bar late that night, the menu at that time was limited with typical of bar food offerings, we both enjoyed our meals and the cocktails available. The room was comfortable and we slept well. Staff all round were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a bit of a let down, it was ok but not fantastic. I was particularly let down by the fresh fruit and yoghurt choices available and my partner felt the hot food was not as hot as he would have liked. Overall, the staff and the location made this a good stay.
