Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fantastic experience all around. Helpful front desk staff, excellent breakfast and restaurant food. Parking one block away (reduced price if front desk validates). Good location to walk to many Limerick locations. Clean room and bathroom. We ended up leaving a valuable camera in the hotel room and the staff was amazing and trustworthy in having a courier ship it to us in the United States. Cannot say enough good about our stay!

It feels like they're a hotel that only really cares about the tour groups and if you're not part of a tour group my advise would be to book elsewhere. When I checked in the member of staff who greeted me asked for my preferred time for breakfast between 7am and 10.30am. I said around 7.30am. On the final morning of my stay I turned up from breakfast at just after 7.30am, like I had done on my previous two days and I was informed the restaurant is fully booked (by tour groups) until after 9am and I should have made a reservation if I wanted to eat before 9.30am. I was shocked for two reasons: 1. When checking in, I was not told I needed to go to reception every day and to reserve a table for breakfast the next morning. 2. Even if I had been informed of that, I was a single traveller so I would not expect any hotel to accept a Bed & Breakfast booking and then to say (on the day) it's a wait of almost two hours if you want a table for breakfast. On the first morning of my stay, while I was accommodated for breakfast at the agreed 07:30 time, I went to get a coffee from the machine and left a partially eaten plate of food and a glass of orange juice on the table. However, one of the waiters decided to clear the table ready for another guest! Some centrally located hotels advertise that due to their location there can be external noise overnight, or recommend customers book a certain room type for a quieter stay. I did not see such a warning with The George. Yet, I found I was being woken throughout the night by deliveries and rubbish collections to and from businesses on the nearby street. The price I paid was was supposed to be a special January Sale rate for a low season date. For what I received in return for that high price, I was disappointed. I could have stayed in a better hotel in a European capital city for a lower price. I fed back the above to the hotel over three weeks ago but didn't receive any response.

We recently spent twp excellent nights in the George Hotel Limerick. Right from our arrival we got a great check-in with Kevin and a room looking out over O'Connell street for the full Limerick experience-great views of the city. We had great service in the bar and a special mention for Shivam who looked after our every need. We also dined in the sister restaurant The Hamptons and we were very impressed. Service and staff brilliant and the food excellent. The hotel is very well located and some very good bars near by- special namecheck Myles Breens. Overall a great stay and we will return. Well done to Altaf and all the team. Derek + Deirdre (Cork)

Absolutely stunning room. Our king room 7003 was just amazing. Everything I mean everything was thought of. I adored the room and the bed was so comfortable. The hotel is so central and the food is fab too. I love the extra thinking that they think of. My only complaint was the man who checked us in could not look at me as a woman. He welcomed my husband and couldn’t look at me and was taken back when it was me with the details and the card to pay !! Look not my fault the way he was reared. I will most definitely be back. The bed was fab and the room was stunning. The hand soap / moisturizer and all the little extras. You will be moved to the lobby for your late drinks. It’s not the end of the world but possibly unnecessary. Fab hotel. We will be back

Do not expect civility at the front desk! The simplest of financial transactions seem to be beyond the front of house team. Just asking for a receipt for the payment I made caused a full blown argument in which I was made to look as if I didn’t know what I was doing. Furious thereafter even before I got to my room.

Some receptionists were good to deal with over the phone. However, one single mattress had a capri sun spilt on it, I received an email saying €250 was taken from my account to cover the mattress and the room on a Sunday night in January. I feel this is highly excessive.

Stayed in The George hotel Limerick last night. By far one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Carpets throughout the hotel were filthy. Rooms very tiny NOT cozy. It was a struggle to walk around the bed. Room was freezing. We thought the window was open but no it was just not sealed. Noisy all night. €173 for a tiny, freezing bed… no breakfast. My advice - Stay somewhere else

We got off to a bad start as we had trouble finding our way from the car park to the hotel. The hotel sign is hard to find. Had to go upstairs to the reception, when we checked in we were asked for photo ID? The room was fine, we went for a room with the king size bed. The shower was in a bath and there was a shower curtain, didn’t like this. Had a snack in the bar which was nice and the staff were excellent and very friendly. I would probably stay there again as the location is very good.

Not sure why this hotel claims to be four stars. We stayed for a single night in September while travelling around Ireland. Unfortunately, our stay was not great. If travelling in the summer, please be aware that the hotel rooms have no air conditioning which we discovered when we entered our room. We were greeted with a room that was excessively hot and stuffy with only a small fan to somehow cool the room. The room window opens only a small amount, not enough to cool the room and faced a noisy road with restaurants and bars which were open until the early hours of the following day. Did not get much sleep that night! Had dinner in the restaurant food was OK, but not value for money, staff are quite good but charged us four times for dinner. Breakfast the following day was average, nothing special and very busy. All in all, if we were staying in Limerick again would stay elsewhere.

Fabulous hotel right in the centre of the city. Lovely staff and car parking is very near the hotel which is ideal! Couldn’t fault it rooms are fab with a Nespresso machine, bottled water and chocolates. Rituals body care in every bathroom shampoo and conditioner included which was a fantastic extra! Couldn’t fault it will definitely be back!
