Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have eaten here often over the years when visiting friends and family in the area. Mostly it’s was a good experience but recently it has gone downhill. A fish and chip lunch costing £17 was a large pile of chips and two thin tail ends of fish smothered in thick batter, so thick it seemed to have insulated the fish so that it was almost raw. When my friend said she was disappointed with the meal - they laughed at her. They actually laughed at her! I might have said something about my roast beef sandwich being served in ‘mother’s pride’ bread but I was so astonished by the attitude of the staff we simply paid and left vowing never to return. A short while after we received a parking fine for using their car park. It took some weeks to get them to rescind it but no apology was ever offered for this or the poor food and rude staff. There are better places to eat in the area.

This is without doubt the most hospitable place I have EVER stayed in!. Many people say "Nothing is too much trouble", these folks actually mean it. The food is out of this world and unbelievably inexpensive. Because of the whole experience, The landlady and landlord have converted me to a Lover of all things Welsh (Except their Rugby Team! :) ) As a life long overseas traveler and staunch Englishman! In future, I will look to stay here and enjoy the company and beautiful countryside. Thanks for opening my eyes to whay Great Britain has to offer.

Shaun & Donna and team were the perfect hosts. Accommodation was great and restaurant even better, with great selection of seafood and steaks. Bar had range of draft beers and whiskies. We ate in both the restaurant inside and the beer garden in the evening to make the most of the great location.

Wowza!! What a lovely place to eat lunch. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The menu was fantastic and the food was delicious. We can recommend the salmon and the pork. The dessert menu was the longest I’ve ever seen so it was difficult to choose. Our choices didn’t disappoint-totally scrummy!!! We left 4 very full, satisfied people ready for a nap 😂😂

Excellent meal, we went with Valentine’s menu. We started with our favourite garlic prawns and we were not disappointed, we had mains of steak and lobster pot, which equally impressive. Topped off with trio of cheese cake and a Prosecco. Great service, value food money and my partner says ‘a great pint’🍺

Our walking group was walking to the Chartists’ Cave and round Trefil quarry on a wet and windy day. We had three dogs with us and six of us had warned the pub we were coming for an early supper. They were really welcoming, sorted out drinks and a food order efficiently and the atmosphere was great. Very good food and beer. Would definitely recommend this place for a good meal.

I took my elderly mother-in-law out for lunch today, we were looked after very well, the front of house were very busy but every customer seemed happy. My MIL had a cockle pancake stuffed with lobster and king prawns, I had the sea bass, both were beautifully prepared by the kitchen. Service was friendly and attentive. For dessert we both chose pavlova, it was stunning but huge… we should have shared 😁 We had tubs to bring the rest home. All in all it was a really pleasant lunchtime spent in nice company x

We are here twice during our canal barge trip. Both times the food was exceptional and in particular the Sunday dinner was delicious. Good veggie options and a spoilt for choice pudding. Shout out to Donna for her warm welcome , and for the treats and cuddles for our dachshund. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting you 😁

Stayed for a night at the recommendation of a friend. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Make sure you book into the restuarant for a meal as the chef produces the most amaxing meals. Great beer garden for the warmer summer months.
