Was a bit disappointed with the hotel write up versus reality. Check in is via an automated machine and you need to give a credit card so they can take a £1. Apparently this in case you take anything from their version of a mini bar (see photo). Room is basic but clean, tea and coffee supplied is limited and the mini bar is a tray with supplies. The bath is fine if you are from The Shire and have a neighbour called Frodo. The food wasn’t very nice and the steak was just a mass of gristle. The lake is beautiful and worth a walk around.

Our rooms were clean and comfortable. We had paid extra for larger rooms with a sofa which enabled 2 couples to socialise without perching on a bed. The staff were also friendly and helpful. But when it comes to the breakfast, charged extra at £9.95...oh dear! The cheapest ingredients cooked badly doesn't make for a pleasant meal, especially after a wait: the staff were working hard but simply not enough of them. The sausage was so bad I actually didn't order it on day 2: never done that before. Bacon was OK but the fried eggs were overcooked solid both days. Also the toast was the thinnest bread possible and the tea was a cup of hot water and a teabag. I would have considered £5 an overcharge for the breakfast. The hotel is clearly run on the cheapest lines: another example was both double rooms only having 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel. Staff and clean room get the 2/5 but considering the standard of food, that is the best I can give.

Friendly welcome, I had emailed ahead and requested a lower floor room due to mobility issues, checked in and were allocated room 114, on arriving at the room and opening the door it was quite obvious that this room had been smoked in the smell was overwhelming, as non smokers there was no way we were going to sleep in there let alone unpack our suitcase. My husband had a look out of the window, which was a top opener, and underneath on the ground outside was like an ash tray in both rooms, so someone had definitely smoked in the room. Husband went to reception and advised them that the room was not acceptable. were then allocated room 117 once again the room smelt overwhelmingly of smoke, although not quite as bad as the previous room, fortunately we had taken some febreze spray with us and gave the room a good spray prior to going in for dinner. I had the scampi and chips and hubby had the beef & ale pie with mash and veg, or should I say pom potato and frozen veg which had been shown the hot water and put on the plate, Mine was ok, his however was disgusting, there is absolutely no excuse for powdered potato, it came out with a crust on the top of it, the frozen veg flew across the plate when he tried to put his fork into it as it was definitely al dente (or still a bit frozen). The pie he said didn't taste of anything, the pastry was rock solid. Decided not to take a chance on dessert so went back to the room. Sadly the smell was still very much in evidence we decided at this point to just go home and put this down to a very bad experience. The disgusting smell of the smoke in the room was so overwhelming that it made me feel ill and there was no way we were going to stay.

I am aware that the hospitality industry has been hit hard by the pandemic but there really is no excuse for the rooms to be in the sad state they were in, despite the smoke, the second room had a piece of net curtain at the window which looked as if it had been screwed up and then put up, the curtain was hanging on with one hook. Management should be looking at the rooms when they have been serviced and should be monitoring the food being taken out by the kitchen staff. The hotel is in a lovely position and could be so much more, sadly it seems as if nobody cares.

A last minute change in our holiday plans due to coronavirus restrictions caused an impromptu stay at the Dragonfly hotel in Peterborough for three days.
Set in a lovely situation by the river Nene we found the service was excellent and the manager Fay, is to be complimented on her organisation in the light of the current coronavirus crisis which had made us quite nervous about staying in a hotel.
Good distances between tables, staggered dining times, social distancing reminders, hand sanitizer placed around all the public areas of the hotel and clean and comfortable rooms put us at ease throughout our stay.
Jess and the rest of the hotel staff were helpful and conscientious and we would not hesitate to stay here again.

We had a nights stay here and found everything very pleasing.
A very clean hotel with lots of space in the bar and restaurant with limited but good food and drinks available at a reasonable price. Breakfast was plentiful with a good selection available.
Also a great outdoor seated area for warmer days, overlooking a lake with footpaths for a very pleasant stroll.
Hand sanitiser was in all common areas and the rooms were comfortable with a large tv.
Staff were helpful and friendly.

We've been non resident customers since the hotel became the Dragonfly. Locals who enjoy a walk along the river and through Nene Park this place offers a very pleasant watering/ eating hole. The views over the river and rowing course are beautiful. The newly refurbished conservatory is very comfortable. In summer the patio seating is very pleasant with a small play park to the side. Teas/coffee prices are very competitive. The pizzas in particular are excellent Service can be a little slow at quiet times of the day. Parking is free to non residents using the restaurant/ bar/ lounge areas. We can only vouch for the food a drinks and not rooms or resident service. But if looking for a very pleasant place to stop on a walk or just to relax the venue is very good.

I stayed at the Dragonfly as I was attending a two day work related course in Peterborough.
On check in I was asked to leave a £1 refundable deposit on my card - this seemed a little odd as I’d already paid for my room but I agreed. I have not had this deposit refunded - in fact it was taken out of my account five days after I left the hotel. Nothing was broken on my stay.
Upon arrival to my room, I noted the faint stagnant smell of old cigarette smoke . I used the bathroom and the hot tap swivelled which I found odd. I was able to use the tap by pressing down hard.
I went back to reception to address these issues. The lady advised me they would look into it and get back to me. They didn’t.
I found the room I was in (109) was an odd shaped room. The television faced sideways to the bed so made watching television and relaxing in the evening not possible.
The double bed I had was in fact two singles pushed together and not of the same height. This made for an uncomfortable night’s sleep.
During the night, the room became immensely hot which woke me up. I couldn’t see why as the electric storage heater wasn’t on. The corridor outside was also hot.
In the morning, I found the shower door to be stiff and would not close properly.
Upon going to dry my hair, there was no plug situated anywhere near the mirror. Being someone with very curly hair who needs to see how they are drying their hair, this was impossible and I had to use the camera on my phone as a mirror.
Unfortunately I suffer with food allergies. I spoke to the waiting on lady at breakfast who advised cornflakes were available for myself. Not what I expect having paid £10 for the breakfast. She appeared very put out when I asked her to check with the chef about items on the hot menu. She came back with ‘ the chef doesn’t really know but here is a photo of the hash brown packet’ . I was able to eat either cornflakes or scrambled eggs, mushrooms and tomatoes. Not really acceptable for what I paid.
I have contacted the hotel but haven’t heard anything back. It’s a shame this hotel is so outdated- not just in the rooms themselves but with education of allergies for staff and also in their lack of trust for customers when they already have their card details from room paying . It may only be £1 deposit, but every time they don’t refund £1 deposit to 100 people, thats £100 in their pockets for free.
This is such a shame as the hotel itself is in a lovely setting.

This one night stop did not cost me a lot so I was not expecting to much. I got a good nights sleep on a comfortable bed, sadly I would not have got this if I was not wearing ear plugs, due to doors banging when other guests where coming and going. The bedroom was very clean. No plug sockets next to the bed. When we first arrived there where a couple of issues but the staff soon corrected these. The staff where very helpful for the whole stay, wearing face masks at all times, but did feel sorry for the breakfast staff due to not having enough supplies and soon ran out of items. (not sure if this was due to us just coming out of lockdown)
The hotel is in a great location with lovely views over a lake. I do feel the hotel could do with some TLC especially after finding mold on the ceiling in my bathroom. The grounds need a good gardener especially with a weed wand as the weeds look like they are taking over. A cleaner with a duster as the spiders have left cob webs hanging in the conservatory.
Sadly not sure I would stay here again.

Over the last few weeks, friends and I have been going for a walk around the boating lake and then stopped at the dragonfly for coffee or breakfast. Food has been lovely and service amazing and friendly. We have had to wear masks to go into the hotel to order, pick up trace and track forms and pay our bill. Suddenly today we were refused service outside unless we are wearing masks/face coverings. I have emailed the hotel and been advised outside is a public area of the hotel and if sitting out you have to wear a mask only removing when eating or drinking. Such a shame as we will not be returning as not comfortable in masks but do wear them in shops and where we have to and that's why we choose to sit out as its more comfortable and safe. Just wanted to let people know so that you dont suffer the embarresment that we did today as we were there on Tuesday this appears to have changed since then.

Hello Linda, I'm sorry your visit on this occasion was not enjoyable. We do request that staff and customers wear masks when entering the building and walking around any of the public areas. This is due to current Government Guidelines which are often changing alongside the threat of Covid-19. However, anyone using our outside area or sitting at a table in the Bar/Restaurant does not need to be wearing a mask. Unfortunately some of the measures were misinterpreted by some staff members when this was being implemented. We have recently employed some new staff and as a team, we aim to make all customers feel welcome and comfortable. I hope that you will consider returning to us in the future and I apologise again that you were made to feel embarrassed by the unfortunate situation.

From terrible check in machine to terrible check out machine which is SO unfriendly and not at all welcoming. Dour receotion.exhausting list of incompetant dreadful experience. What hotel runs out of bacon and Sauvingon Blanc !! ? Especially bacon !! Go to a shop !! Customer comfort and satisfaction is far from priority.
We felt so sorry for serving staff with a shambles of dinner service . Table booked 7.30 , seated 8.30 and one of the mains didnt come out until 9.10 after stressing onion allergy and it came out with onion rings !! Constantly having to ask for basics. Nobody coming to ask if there was anything we needed. Basic requirements not met.
Room very badly appointed, no dressing table mirror, no hairdryer, no storage, no luggage rack, tv location rediculous Just so irritating ALL the time !! Didnt matter what we needed it was a problem . It could be SO good !! Rooms are not serviced during your stay....why ? Dont say covid !!
