Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Like a small step up from a motel, tired furniture with chips in the table and scuffs on the chairs, found a used sand which wrapper in the draw, the smoke detector was actually covered with a bag, the security light in the room glowed bright green all night - I actually tried a folded towel over my eyes as even with them closed you were still aware of it. The walls are paper thin, you could hear every single noise from the corridor and nearby rooms. The bathroom looked new, but the toilet had been placed so close to the wall that it wasn’t possible to sit on it straight. No breakfast room, they were deceived to rooms, which you could clearly hear happening from 6:30am - we had booked but decided to get out of there asap. Bed squeaked with the slightest movement. It really was the worst place I’d ever been and it wasn’t even inexpensive.

Comfortable hotel within a short walking distance from the rail / bus stations, cathedral and city centre. I wasn’t expecting much after reading some of the previous reviews, especially as I ended up in the dreaded attic rooms. However, I have to say that the room (212) was very comfortable; even for a tall guy like myself. Yes I had to duck my head down when entering the room and bathroom, but otherwise I could stand in most parts of the room (shower, bathroom, living area). The staff were all very friendly and professional, I spoke to three different members of the team and have to say they were all great. A special mention to the young lady on check out and the gentleman that helped me with my breakfast order the evening before. Speaking of the breakfast. I am not a big fan of breakfast being brought to the room. I much prefer to make breakfast an occasion to go downstairs and check the weather (aka have a smoke). I like to choose my breakfast from a buffet or have it cooked to order whilst I people watch in the restaurant or check my e-mail. That said, the breakfast was very good. Brought to the room on a tray with all the things you would expect, scrambled eggs, fresh coffee, orange juice, cereal and fresh milk. I didn’t eat at the restaurant that is part of the hotel, but it looked very pleasant. I’m just not a fan of Turkish or Moroccan food generally. There are plenty of restaurants within ten minutes walk from the hotel, including two Wetherspoon’s if you are looking for something cheap and cheerful. Overall I would definitely recommend The Pearl and will stay here again next time I am in Peterborough.

Everything perfect but the walls very thin. However everything else was perfect, clean and the staff were very very helpful! My breakfast to my room was a lovely touch too. I will be using this hotel again. Reception very chatty and super helpful.

Very dated room with minimal space. Dated furniture. The most upto date thing was the chandelier with blue lights. Bathroom was good but the toilet seat was loose. Lots of banging throughout the night. Maybe okay for one night but not a full week. Is nothing like the pictures advertised

Excellent hotel. Well located, just a short 5-10 minute walk to the city centre. Bed was incredibly comfortable, I slept exceptionally well. Breakfast was amazing. This was included with my room, however at £4.99 additionally if it’s not included, it was excellent value for money. All staff were pleasant and friendly. I had no need to ask for anything, however I am sure that if I did, they would have been very accommodating. Initially I was apprehensive about being in the first room next to the reception as I was expecting noise disturbance from other guests coming and going. This was not an issue and there was no noise disturbance at all. Overall, a fantastic hotel.

Hotel for very short people. Iam in one of the rooms and the door reaches the middle of my chest. Never on my life. Ok location and I’m tired, I just hope there isn’t a fire alarm as I might knock myself out getting out the door. Once you crawl through the door and then down some steps the room opens up. However the bathroom is the same, up some steps to a half door.

Arrived after travelling 200 miles from the north east paid 125 pound for the luxury suite. Initially told there was no hot water and it will be fine we will give you a free breakfast. Then told after four hours later there's nothing we can do sorry you can't have hot water we can recommend other hotels and we can offer a refund but it will take up to 72 hours for it to go into your bank account. Staff were awful at communicating which made it ten times worse

Freindly members of staff, comfy room along with breakfast delivered to the room in the morning. The only downside was the very bright green fire exit light preventing me from sleeping for a few hours which was the only bad bit.

Booked an over night stay here as it’s near the train station, on arrival we were quite impressed all seemed lovely and clean and our room was upgraded on arrival free of charge, room itself was spacious and quite quirky which we liked. Unfortunately the whole point of this stay was to get a good nights sleep before picking up a new car and heading back to south west wales, we were kept awake all night by constant noise of people walking about and creaking floor boards, we have stayed in plenty of hotels and some noise you expect but this was beyond, neither of us managed to sleep resulting in a very tired 6 hour journey home

Worst hotel ever!! The the car park was small and busy, didn’t feel safe with the car being parked at the hotel. The receptionist wasn’t professional and was smoking with his friends outside! I had to pay a check in fee to which I had already paid the full amount via booking.com. The room was tiny, the bathroom smelt of urine and the Air Conditioning didn’t work. I didn’t feel safe at the hotel, the window didn’t have a protective lock and was by the industrial bins which wasn’t ideal either! Especially with the air con not working! I requested my money back to which the hotel said I never checked in!! Even though I paid the fee to prove this…. I do NOT recommend this hotel!!!!
