Stayed here for 2 nights when working in the area, great free parking, hotel looks great from the road. Got to our room and even though the radiator was on it was absolutely freezing, went to reception and got a hot air heater which helped a bit but room was still not warm. Room was also lacking power sockets, none bedside to charge phones

Hotel's Favourite
Stayed here once again and again cannot fault it. From arriving early to find our room was ready was brilliant and a lovely welcome from the staff in reception. Went to our room and it was very nice - yes a bit dated but it was spotlessly clean and the bathroom was huge with white fluffy towels. The bed was very comfortable and very quiet even though we were overlooking the car park we heard nothing. The breakfast the next morning was plentiful and again the staff could not do enough for you and very polite. I love this hotel and can't wait to return. Exceptional value for money.

A small group of us who like to practice our German language skills have started meeting here over lunch . The hotel has obviously been badly hit by the Covid situation . Like everywhere else we go everything has been done to minimize the risks to visitors . We are all of a certain age and felt we were well protected . Food is OK and the menu somewhat restricted . Much as I love the Cairn for its old-fashioned interior I have never been impressed by the food ......or the coffee .

We have stayed at the Cairn before and found the hotel to be average but like the free parking as it is at a premium around Harrogate. We stayed this last weekend for two nights. We booked a standard twin room which I must say was much better than the previous one we had. I think recently painted with very nice clean bedding and lovely towels. The bathroom had been completely refurbished and although a little clinical was beautiful and clean. with hand wash and shower gel provided. We were on the third floor and the view was quite pleasant. Breakfast was waiter/waitress service only due to the Covid conditions but was more than acceptable with a good choice of menu. Overall a better experience than when we have stayed previously and would more than likely visit again.

Ignoring covid.... +ve late check in (2330) Free parking Attrqctive old building. Nice staff at breakfast -ve Tiny single room No pillow on bed (annoying as i was about to climb in) No shower towel (unable to bring to room as only one member of staff in entire hotel, admittedly skeleton staff during covid) Moved room to equally dingy room, although with nicely refurbed en-suite Dingy Furniture like something from second hand shop years ago Windows old and drafty Condition of building abominable Difficult to fathom why people are staying here! Hate to say it, go to Premier Inn :-(.
