Stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed it greatly. The room was off an external corridor on the ground floor and was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was immaculate and whilst the water did take a while to warm up, it was plentiful. Fabulous carvery in the restaurant and the staff couldn't do enough to help. All in all,...

One of our friends recommended this place to us , so my partner and I booked for Sunday lunch, we arrived at 6.20 as we booked our table for 6.30 to be informed we are to wait and get a drink before we go into the restaurant , the place then started to get busy and we sat at the...

Arrived Sunday lunchtime - dripping wet after a 5 mile walk - and greeted by a lovely lady in the bar who immediately took away our we things and put them near a heater to dry out. My friend and I had the £12.95 (starter and main course) carvery lunch and it was excellent. Piping hot soup to warm us...

Really lovely staff but sadly dreadful food, place smelt of old chip fat, hair in bed, hot water took ages to run, cold bathroom but nice and clean, breakfast very average. I wouldn't stay again Nothing more to say

Clean and fresh with all we needed. Bathroom also spotless. Family run business . All members work here and we're very friendly and accommodating. We are in the restaurant...

Location beautiful, lovely quaint pub and nice atmosphere, good food too! We arrived late was shown to our room which was I can only describe as a chalet! The room was clean and tidy quite dated though and the bathroom was newly fitted. We didn't get a wink of sleep though as the bed was a small double very uncomfortable...

We have been going to the Chequers for many years - the carvery is excellent and Wedneday night is the best steak night anywhere! However, I felt that I had to write a review after they catered for a one-off private function for us. The food was excellent, the helpings were incredibly generous, and the staff worked tirelessly to ensure...

Staying locally went to the Chequers Inn for a Sunday lunch. A good sign was that it was very busy (booking is advised). They served a traditional carvery all freshly cooked and served with humour and decent sized portions. Having had a starter (tasty soup) and main course had no room for any of their homemade desserts (just as well...
