Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Arrived a little earlier than 4pm check in time but room was ready so all good. Carpark a little fiddly, we chose ‘upper deck’, uncovered and in the elements but plenty of space and safe. Is a charge for car parking - cost £15 for 2 nights and is a ticketed entry exit so no way to avoid charge once in. Hotel is utterly fabulous, from first impressions to leaving. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Hotel reception is small and can get quite busy but staff move competently through the queue quickly. Our room was in Cavendish Suite - located in a separate block but not too far. Fully accessible, lifts to all floors (a little parking - 3 spaces; right outside the door but didn’t risk it so paid for secure hotel parking instead. First impressions - just wow; large hallway with bedrooms just off. 3 bedrooms on our suite - 2 ensuite; we had room 423, not ensuite bathroom across the hall; but is private bathroom just for room and robe & slippers provided. Door electronic key so don’t lock yourself out going to the bathroom. Bedroom enormous, very clean, well decorated and spacious. Small wardrobe, hairdryer & iron & ironing board provided. Tea & coffee facilities in room but no water. Large wall mounted TV with plenty of channels & WIFI too. Bathroom was very modern, bath though; no shower - bit disappointing that no shower and not ensuite but no deal breaker. Bathroom door can be noisey when closing early hours (sorry neighbours, woman of a certain age). The bar - ‘The Fat Badger’; just wow. Quaint, cosy and loads of real ale, lagers and other alcoholic delights. Service with a smile - fast too. Got busy on Friday & Saturday night so go early. Food from bar, great quality; good menu and reasonably priced. The restaurant for breakfast - again wow. Self service cooked options but plenty of cereal, fruit, toast, fruit & yoghurt. There’s surely something for everyone. The tastiest hotel breakfast I’ve had anywhere. Staff friendly and helpful too. All round amazing stay - will definitely come back

Hotel's Favourite
We have stayed at the White Hart several times and find it outstanding in terms of what they deliver. They never make promises that they cannot meet and the staff are always, always, helpful and polite. This is rare nowadays: Problems are there to be solved not used as excuses for shortcomings. The location is ideal, the prices are good, booking is simple and there is never any onerous admin or messing about. Everybody seems well-trained and switched on in their roles. The Fat Badger, the in-house bar, is by far the best pub in Harrogate. The food is simple but of good quality and the service at the bar is always swift, efficient, friendly and accurate. The evidence is plain to see: It is always busy and it can be difficult to get a table in the beer garden at peak times. I would recommend the White Hart and the Fat Badger to anyone.

Response from Fran Patrick , Guest Services / Front Office at White Hart Hotel & Apartments
Responded 10 Sept 2022
Thank you for taking your time to write this review We are very grateful for your kind words and 5 stars. It is great to see that you have enjoyed your stay at The White Hart Hotel and also The Fat Badger! The staff all work extremely hard to make sure that all of our guests are made to feel welcome and they try there hardest to make sure all requests are met. The Fat Badger is known for being one of the busiest and best pubs in Harrogate so its wonderful to see that you managed to have the Fat Badger experience. The hotel and pub is located in a prime location for Harrogate. A stones throw away from the town centre and all the pubs, restaurants and shops We hope to see you again in the future. When you would like to rebook please contact us directly for the best rates via email - reservations@whiteharthotelharrogate.com or via phone - 01423 505681

Incredibly friendly service, from the reception staff to the bar staff, who all went the extra mile to make me feel welcome. Lovely room at a very reasonable price; even though it was advertised as a 'cosy' room, it was still nice and spacious with good facilities. The hotel is in a great location, very central but also not at all noisy. Overall, a wonderful stay!

Nice location and facilities. Comfortable bed, and nice bathroom. A lot of noise can be heard from outside, and in the hallways early in the morning. Turned radiator right down, but unable to turn off so room far too warm. Could also have done with a more thorough clean, as the blinds in the bathroom were very dusty. Parking prices extortionate.

Another lovely stay. Warm and welcoming from all staff. Hotel is a relaxing environment, with lovely bedrooms and powerful shower, kept extremely clean by the pleasant housekeeping staff. Breakfast high quality, everything always kept topped up and our meal in the atmospheric restaurant was delicious. Cannot fault the hotel and staff. Thank you

All the staff we interacted with were great and we enjoyed the breakfast. The room was clean and well equipped. Our only complaint would be that the room was very warm due to hot water pipes running down the corner of the room. Also the pillows were quite hard.

Great staff and facilities, the room was tastefully decorated and had lovely views. The Fat Badger was a pleasant surprise for a hotel bar, the staff, drinks and food were all excellent. The location is perfect for walking out and Fountains abbey, and it's very good value for money.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at the White Hart Hotel. We stayed in the standard double room which was more than ample for the 2 of us. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to The Fat Badger for food - it was delicious and the pub was great for drinks. Very cosy and welcoming. Would definitely stay again.

Friendly, helpful staff- lovely clean room and ensuite, comfy bed & no corridor noise - great bar with good atmosphere & an elegant restaurant. Great location with a spacious car park. Would visit again. Stayed in room 108 which overlooked the front of the hotel.
