I am not a fan of Travelodge, but when I can get a room close to where I need to be for £35 it’s hard to turn it down, especially if it is just for sleeping after a night out with friends.

This was the case recently, so I put my dislike of Travelodge to one side and booked a room a couple of days before our stay. The hotel is part of Gloucester Quays, so there is a multi-storey car park with plenty of spaces. Travelodge also have a deal that reduces the cost of 24hours parking from £10 to £6, which I think is good value (especially if you want to go shopping or explore the city the day after your stay).

The rooms here are not huge, but easy enough to move around and there’s no view to speak of. We had a view of the car park, rooms at the front would over-look the retail park. The bathroom was small and compact, but again fit for purpose and I must say that I was surprised by the quality of the towels and the fact that we had three large towels and a hand towel. We did appear to be missing a foot towel though, not sure if that is standard or just an oversight.

We slept very well, with no noise disturbing us. Had a lie-in, so skipped breakfast but headed over to Wetherspoons for brunch.

Gloucester Quays has a good mix of shops and plenty of restaurants and bars, which make for a good evening out. This is by far the best Travelodge I have ever stayed in and for £35 a night I would happily stay again.

Love coming to Gloucester and when we do we always stay in Travelodge, arrived just before our check in time to be greeted by Dani who was really helpful, we booked 2 rooms and both was next door to each other which was handy.
When we booked the rooms we had a deal for half price breakfast and kids eat free this meant for £8.75 we had unlimited breakfast for 5 of us - absolute bargain.
Rooms was clean and plenty of tea and coffee supplies. I didn't hear much noise however the carpark is next to travelodge and a pub nearby so it can get noisy - luckily we didn't experience this but have done so in the past.
Reception will validate your parking ticket (£6 for 24 hours) so remember to hand ticket to reception for them to do this.
We didn't use the bar as was staying for 1 night and simply run out of time.
Breakfast next morning was lovely, the items was always being replenished and you can just help yourself.
Overall a great stay and as a frequent user of Travelodge hotels this is by far one of the best we have stayed in. Looking to return in the summer for a longer stay.

Stayed for one night while collecting my son from university. I had originally booked a room at the Premier Inn nearby for me and my husband but at the last minute my daughter wanted to come along as well to go shopping at the Quays shopping centre and I couldn't book a triple room there as she is an adult.
The parking in the multistory is convenient to the hotel and you can get the fee reduced by 50% at reception. The hotel itself is a typical Travelodge, our room was ok, basic and clean. You aren't paying for a 5 star hotel, yes the carpets in the corridors could do with replacing, but for the price paid and for a one night stay it was fine. I wouldn't want to stay any longer. We did experience the noise from the club as reported on other reviews but it turned off around midnight.
The location is right nearby the Quay outlet shops, restaurants and cinema so once parked up you can walk to all of these places.
My husband had the £8.99 eat as much as you like breakfast on the Saturday morning and said it was fine, a buffet help yourself breakfast which he likes.
If I had the choice I would always choose Premier Inn first and in hindsight would have booked the extra room there instead of staying here.

We've always wanted to stay near the quays to enjoy the bars, restaurants and shops without having to drive home.

Decided to stop over for the Bank Holiday weekend at the Gloucester Quays Travelodge. Check-in was friendly and efficient, checking to see if we had driven and needed our car park ticket validating.

Our room was on the 3rd floor and we were pleasantly surprised to find it had great air conditioning! Not always available at a Travelodge or other value hotel.

The usual 'no thrills' room, but has everything needed including tea & coffee as well as TV and a comfy bed.

Of course one of the biggest positives was its location right on the quays allowing us to enjoy the sunshine, great food and drinks on our doorstep.

Where our room was situated we were also in earshot of a singer performing outside a local bar, but was pleasantly surprised at the soundproofing of the window. Sorry 'Barrio' I'm sure you sounded great if you were in the pub enjoying a drink!

A great nights sleep was enjoyed by us both, again thanks to the aircon!

Checkout at 12 also allowed us to get out for a nice scenic walk before returning for a shower and checking-out, which was equally as efficient.

The only reason I couldn't give a 5/5 is that there was a problem with something in the room that I won't go into detail about and I expect was the result if an unnoticed accident when preparing the room for us.

We'll definitely be returning here!

This Travelodge is one of the best 'budget hotels' I have stayed in ; clean, comfortable beds, lovely staff, great location (right next door to the entrance to Gloucester Quays designer outlet) & breakfast was as good as some 5 star hotels I have experienced!! Unlimited good quality coffee, full English breakfast ,cereal, fruit, toast , jams, spreads & even Nutella for a treat on toast !!!!! Loved it 👍

I really can not find anything negative to say ..... the receptionist was extremely welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable & helpful when we arrived yesterday afternoon - I wish I could remember her name but she is an asset to the establishment .

We only stayed one night but based on this experience I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel & would definitely return if visiting Gloucester in the future

Good location, cheap price and discounted parking with the car park next door (£6 for 24hrs instead of the usual £12), some rooms have a view of the cathedral in the distance. Retail park and shopping centres nearby as well as some nice restaurants and the docks. However, the rooms are noticeably older than in some other Travelodges (dimmer lights, older bathrooms with lots of grey and curtains instead of glass doors). Bed was framed with a warm light, reception staff were nice, self-controlled aircon, tea and coffee were available in your room. No safe provided and very thin toilet paper. Works well for a cheap, short stay but wouldn't personally recommend for a longer one.

Just returned from a 3 night stay and overall really quite happy. Yes, the hotel is maybe a little tired and needs a refresh but the staff are excellent and really helpful.

The rooms and breakfast are exactly what you expect from a travelodge, which is clean, fresh and decent quality for a good price.

I personally believe some of the reviews are unfair and would recommend.

Location is good too.. right by a lovely area called Gloucester Quays with a number of nice restaurants and bars.

Car parking handy too.. £6 per 24hours, just park up, get your ticket and then ask reception to validate it for you. When you pay at the car park in the machine, it will automatically discount.

Great stay thank you!

Very disappointed in this hotel. Despite having stayed at Travelodge in other locations and it been really good. The room was on the 3rd floor business rooms so we expected the room to be in good maintenance but it was small and dark. Three lifht switches didn't work only two plug sockets despite needing one gor the kettle. No USB sockets. The tiles in the bathroom were taped on with gaffer tape. In the evening when I went out to reception to collect our food, the hallway smelt strongly of weed. Outside our window on ground floor was a pub which was blaring music and people shouting. This was still going on at 1030pm. We parked out car innthe multistorey as it had a subsidised rate, when we went to leave in the morning we could hear a man shouting. Sure enough he was on the floor we were parked on and quite obviously had a few two many the night before as he kept walking around the car shouting and screaming 😱. Not ideal for a lone woman to be confronted with had I been on my own. I will never stay here again..

I have stayed in this hotel for 1 night many times over the years. It has gotten to look tired lately but this stay was the worst. The rooms could really do with new carpets and a coat of paint, they look tired. The lift didnt work on arrival meaning we had to carry our luggage up 4 flights of stairs. (not a good start). We arrived at our room to find a black bag full of rubbish outside the door. The air con didnt work so they had put an electric heater in the room, only 2 plugs and one was used by the heater! charging phones was one at a time, and unplugged to have a cuppa. I am glad I only stayed the night.

Overall this Travelodge is not bad, generally what you would expect from this chain. My only real criticism would have been that the corridoors were dirty however at 3am two drunk men were able to open the door to our room and enter. My partner complained about this when checking out and the receptionist tried to claim it was a security guard collecting some stuff he had left in the room but that seems implausible. There was not stuff left in the room, and if there had been then we shouldn't have been given that room. It was two men who entered and they were clearly drunk, so if they actually were staff then that would be an inappropriate use of their master key. If they were just other guests, then they probably just made a mistake but this raises the question of why the key to their room worked in our door. If guests discover that their key works in other doors, most would not take advantage of that but some might. This left us feeling that we could not leave any belongings in the room when we were out and it made me very concerned for the safety of other female guests who might be sleeping alone. A very similar thing happened to my partner when he stayed in another Travelodge in 2018. We do not stay at Travelodge often, we have probably only stayed there 10 nights in total, so this happening on 2 of those nights is pretty poor. When this happened to my partner in 2018 he complained and received a voucher but this time although we complained verbally, we felt filling in the complaint form was a waste of time. We are not interested in compensation, my partner never used the voucher he received because he didn't feel comfortable staying there again. As a few years had passed and it was a different city we thought we would give it another try but we won't be going back to Travelodge unless they take action to address these serious safety concerns.

Is there parking nearby?
Answer from Gloucester T
Hello! We recommend the multistory car park belonging to the Quays Shopping Center. It is at the other end of our building. We also offer a discounted rate of £6 for 24h, instead of £12
