We booked an executive room though the ihg members site. Check in was quick but on entering our room it was a bit disappointing to see a small room with a solid brick wall in front of the window which made it feel very enclosed and appeared to be a standard room with none of the little extras the booked executive room has. After speaking to reception a dressing gown, slippers, water and small chocolate bar were brought up to our room.
The bed and pillows were quite comfortable but we did have trouble sleeping as the room was really hot at night and the aircon did not appear to make any difference to the room temperature. The rooms have a large tv, hair dryer, kettle, iron, fridge and safe.

Restaurant: We had a meal on our first evening which was nice and average prices for a hotel chain also the waitress was very friendly, they do add a 10% service charge to the bill which is standard for American hotel chains. One thing though is they do not serve any normal coke or pepsi which is all my partner drinks so he just had tap water.
Breakfast was a pleasant surprise as we were not sure what the hotel would be serving with the new guidelines, but there was cooked items being served by a very friendly chef and the cold items, fruit, cheese, yogurt, milk, bread, cereal and pastries were in individual pots or wraps which I prefer and hope the hotel keeps this in place in the future. You were asked to pre-book the time slot through a qr reader on a smartphone the day before, glad I updated my phone last year or I think I would be having a lot a problems booking anything anywhere nowadays.

Location: A large Sainsbury is in the next road and the hotel is a short 10 minute drive into Gloucester were we had a lovely day looking around the cathedral, quay shops and had a really nice meal in Greek on the docks. We parked in the westgate car park near the cathedral which was reasonable prices.

We did not use the pool this time as you currently have to pre- book time slots and we did not know what time we would be returning from our days out.

The parking is free but remember to input your car reg in the screen by reception.

Overall although initially disappointed with the room the staff were great, polite and friendly throughout the hotel and restaurant and trying there best under difficult circumstances to keep guests happy.

We have just returned after staying 3 nights here to visit friends.

Check-in was quick, easy and friendly. They had boxes on the desk for used Pens to prevent contamination. Reception was very clean and staff friendly.

We were disappointed that the hotel doesn't have a lift.. this did make life difficult as we have a 3 month old baby with us. When we first went in we took the car seat, but every other time we had to bring the pram and lug it up the stairs because our room couldn't be any further away!

There was information saying that our rooms wouldn't be cleaned to reduce contamination within the room. Tea and coffee would just be replaced..This was fine as we normally ask for the room to be left anyway, except that despite us booking 3 nights we were only left one half used toilet roll, one morning's worth of coffee and the tiniest of bins.
I went to reception to ask about extra tea and coffee and where to put our rubbish (nappies) and the reception member was very happy to bring us some bits to the room and a spare bin bag and told us to put the rubbish in the reception bin.

Breakfast was a complete rip off. £12 for a takeaway bag with hardly anything in it. We went to McDonald's round the corner instead.

The hotel is looking very tired in the rooms,. but it was very clean and tidy and I felt that they were taking the rules seriously in terms of covid..all staff members had masks on

Overall it was good value for what we needed it for...ie a base to sleep in.

I will make sure to share your comments with our team for the necessary improvements needed on our end. I appreciate you as our guest and I still hope you would give us another chance in the future. We stayed 4 nights there. The first night we were given a standard double room on the first floor. It was not comfortable at all, the bed was short in length and small, there wasn't any ceiling lamp and when our next door neighbor started to smoke we could smell it too in our room!!! The cleanness of the room was poor! As it was our honeymoon! we requested changing the room and we moved to a double room upstairs (the one with a sofa). This room was much cleaner, brighter and had a larger mattress, the size of room was good although the fridge was even smaller than the previous one. The pool got opened up during after the Christmas break however there wasn't any gym at that time, so better to check with them on those in advanced. No breakfast was included, the meal in the restaurant was too expensive. In overall it was an average one, we were so glad that we managed to change our room to a larger one, otherwise we couldn't stay another day in that hotel!

Difficult to fault this hotel in terms of convenience, parking facilities, leisure opportunities, food, service and room comfort. I was welcomed by friendly staff on reception, on the leisure desk and at the bar. In fact even the maintenance guy wandering about was really friendly. I’d have no hesitation in stopping off again in the future. Served as a good stop off point between Norfolk & Pembrokeshire.

Ive stayed in many holiday inns and I have always been impressed, but I was shocked at this hotel. I booked it last minute as a well needed long weekend away, probably my own fault for not checking reviews. When arriving to the hotel, the receptionist was pleasant, we had a few bags but only had help carrying up the stairs not to the room. When i walked into the room, I wanted to leave instantly. It was so tired, so depressing, mould on the walls, stains all over the carpet, the photos are deceiving. Mini bar was empty, one small bottle of water on table and a cadburys dairy milk, very cheap. Typoon tea bags and no options of green tea etc. Not worth the price. Shower was flooding and the bed was very uncomfortable. Apparently a robe came with the room (not one in sight). I had 3 nights checked in here but I could not stay. I had already had some wine to drown my sorrows so was unable to drive that night so had no choice but to stay, come the morning I paid for one night and we left to go to another hotel (cheaper but much nicer) locally. needs complete refurbishment, very sad and run down and quite depressing. Also odd why no manager was on duty the night I arrived and day i left. When telling the receptionist my complaints he ignored me and changed the subject (ok then, guess you don't want feedback).

Start with the negatives as they are really small -
Rooms need a little bit of an update, and having an adjoining door to the next door room, which is occupied by strangers is a little weird and a tad noisy.

Best bits -
Hotel staff really friendly and helpful and mindful of new Coivd rules making everyone feel safe. Check in was great, staff really friendly and helpful. The information provided for booking pool/restaurant etc. was also very clear and helpful.
We are one family and had 2 rooms that staff kindly put close together, which was appreciated. The family room was superior to the twin room as it had a fridge, but we were not expecting one anyway so that was a bonus we shared. Both rooms came with irons, trouser presses, hairdryers, full toiletries, free wifi, parking, etc., and all the beds and pillows were clean and comfortable. The bathrom and rooms were very clean as were the towels etc.
Anything that you may have forgotten like masks, bathroom sundries is available at reception, and you get a free hand sanitizer on check in.
Pool was great and family had it to themselves (you have to pre book).
The gentleman in the restaurant for breakfast was fantastic and went out of his way to make everyone comfortable and informed and he saw to every need anyone had,and went above and beyond anything expected. The Chef was also fantastic, so friendly and accommodating and provided a great cooked breakfast and excellent service, even bringing toast etc to the table, which we had forgotten. The cold breakfast offering was the best we have seen in a while.
This hotel is large but has just 2 floors (that we could see) and was nice and quiet, with no traffic noise.
The staff at this hotel really work hard to keep guests safe, comfortable, and well attended too.
The location is around 3 miles or so to Gloucester Quays and on the way there are supermarkets such as Sainsbury, Asda, Morrisons etc.

I had a business meeting at this hotel. A colleague sent me a text message to let me know where the meeting room was - I didn't even have to pass reception.

I was unaware that they have a contract with a company called Parking Eye who then threatened me with a fine for unauthorised use of the car park.

Of course I phoned Holiday Inn, who redirected me to an email where they handle these for the specific hotel, presumably because they get through so many they can't deal with it at a chain level. They assured me it would be cancelled, it hasn't and the court papers have arrived. That email address now auto-replies to tell me the hotel is closed, unfortunately just for Covid.

The location's dire, sandwiched between a busy roundabout on a dual carriageway and an industrial estate. Quite why anyone would want to stay there unless they had business on that industrial estate is beyond me.

Personally, I think this is a disgraceful way to treat customers. I've used Holiday Inns across Europe but I will not be back, it's not worth it for a week's stay let alone a meeting that was only hours long! I'll cut short my review here as I have to prepare my defence submission.

Stayed in quite a few holiday inn s usually really good
With the COVID problems you would think making people wear masks walking around in hotel areas would be a must but hear people are just walking around not caring and as the staff are wearing them they are not telling customers to . Hand sanitise is always run out at machines . My room is very out dated all desks and cupboards are chipped and old walls have marks all over them mould in bathroom staff are really nice that’s about the best thing in this hotel really let down with the rest tho

First impressions do count and these were good. Although there was a lot of upgrade work replacing paving stones outside the hotel there was always a safe, clean way to get into reception. At reception the welcome was warm and friendly, very professionally handled check-in and very helpful. In fact, every member of staff that we met seemed pleased to see us as a guest and went out of their way to ensure that we had a good stay.

The recently refurbished family room was very clean and tidy, it was large, had a very comfortable bed and pillows, plenty of clothes hanging space, a large screen Samsung TV with very good picture and sound plus a remote that was much more efficient than most hotels. Sound insulation between rooms worked well although you could hear people walking past in the passageway. This was not a problem.

The bathroom was smaller than expected for the room size but had everything that was needed including a bath/shower. Washbasin taps and shower controls were good quality Grohe and Hansgrohe products and there was an efficient extraction fan. Towels were very clean, large and soft. Night and day the hot water was of sufficiently high temperature to give me the very hot shower which I like.

Because of the refurbishment, the air conditioning upgrade had not been finished but the two, temporary oil filled radiators in the room were more than adequate to keep the room warm. I was also pleased to have an opening window as too many hotels nowadays do not have that.

Room service arrived in a reasonable time from ordering to make you fairly sure that the food was freshly prepared and not sitting waiting to be reheated and delivered. Food quality was more than acceptable and accompanied by a very pleasant bottle of wine. Breakfast was a fairly standard hot and cold buffet with a good range of options and above average hotel buffet quality apart from the fruit juice which seemed to have been diluted too much from a concentrate. There was good separation of tables.

Well located not far off the M5 for people who just want a good bed and some food for the night, it is also well situated for exploring the Gloucester area. The car park, even with some of it lost to refurbishment work, is a good size and parking was never a problem.

A hotel that we will use again if in the Gloucester area.

This place is a dump, don’t be fooled by the freshly painted reception once you head to the rooms they are worn out leaky showers worn out furnishings 10 year old tv. Worst of all is the banging doors that start about 5am no soft close on these doors I can promise you. Finally through out lock down ive stayed in hotels as I’m a key worker all have had to modify breakfast but now we are out of lockdown it’s time to provide better breakfast a paper bag with a few bits in it is using covid as an excuse to save money.
This hotel is circling the drain and I’m sure won’t be in business for much longer. You know it’s bad when Id prefer to be in a travel lodge to here.
