We booked the Littleover Lodge way back in March so we could attend a relative's wedding. We booked through a well known booking site. Whilst we had all the booking details and confirmations, I rang to confirm arrangements earlier in the week to be on the safe side. The staff I spoke to were professional and courteous and more than happy to confirm the booking. One aspect that drew us to the lodge was that they had a check in time of 1pm, ideal for us as the wedding was at 3pm. Upon arrival, bearing in mind we had actually booked 3 rooms, we were presented with the paper work by the receptionist and were presented with 3 sets of keys, the whole checkin process took less than 5 minutes.
The rooms were all clean and fairly simple but given some of the reviews on this site, there you no issues that caused major concern and I have stayed in much worse accommodation.
On Saturday evening after we had returned from the wedding, there was a fracas outside in the car park with quite a lot of shouting causing a disturbance.
However despite that we all had a good nights sleep, just not enough of it but that was due to a long day a few drinks at the wedding.
We then came to breakfast and Keith was hosting breakfast and quickly pointed out that the cooked breakfast had an additional charge, something we had been informed of by reception on checkin. 5 cooked breakfasts were duly ordered and when they arrived we found them to be tasty and considered to be a good standard.
Overall the Littleover Lodge is a nice small hotel that certainly served our needs this weekend. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. I would without hesitation return to stay here again and I would like to thank Sean and the team for looking after us so well for our brief stay.

Tired looking bedroom/bathroom. Wobbly tap in our room. Our bed was comfy, but our daughter said hers was very uncomfortable.
Had lovely pizzas in the restaurant. Disappointed that "Breakfast included" was only a continental breakfast. This should have been stated on the website. We could have upgraded for an extra £6.50 per person.
Lovely staff, breakfast was served quickly and efficiently.

The rooms need a total revamp. They’re very tired looking, basic rooms, the beds had no headboards so there were dirty marks on the walls where people obviously rest their heads, the vertical blinds were broken so not hanging correctly therefore letting light in at night. The bathroom is very dated however the shower was good.
The doors and windows let in so much noise, whether it being car engines or people sitting having a drink or walking past - the bar is situated behind the rooms so people have to walk past to get to the bar. The windows really could do with being double glazed. The noise does die down after the bar closes at midnight but ear plugs should be provided! If you’re a light sleeper it won’t be the place for you.
The bar was nice, lovely food for dinner and the continental breakfast was great, the staff were friendly.
Plenty of free parking.

Overall good price but it’s reflected in the run down rooms.

My mother and I had booked for 2 nights as we were attending an event nearby. Staff are really friendly however, the rooms were not clean and there were damages that should have been repaired or at least hidden. Beds were really uncomfortable and the sheets didn’t look ironed.

I understand that for the price I should have not expected too much but cleanliness is a MASSIVE basic for me. You could tell that the bathrooms had had a once over but had not had a deep clean in god knows how long I.e bathroom floors had deep set dirt which could be avoided through regular thorougher cleans.

We had a drink in the bar on the first night. We asked for a jug of pimms which we had to return as it tasted horrid (the waitress said that the drink was made wrong as the bar tender tasted it and agreed) Staff offered us a different drink which was nice of them however the mojito they offered was not much better.

We attended breakfast in the morning as it was part of the package. The coffee machine wasn’t working and a man who was also staying said that the machine had not been working the last time he stayed (we had to pull down the front of the machine to select the option which in hindsight was not the safest of options). They should just offer standard tea and coffee and bring it out ready made if their machine doesn’t work.. save themselves the embarrassment. My mums cereal was also out of date and had to be switched.

My mother and I did not sleep AT ALL as other guests were extremely loud (including their dog). We understand that this is not the hotels fault but just thought it’s worth a mention as you can hear EVERYTHING. So if you are a light sleeper avoid.

We ended up checking out after the first night and moved to another nearby hotel. The manger didn’t charge us for the night we didn’t stay and did apologise.

I do want to make it clear that the staff were lovely and were very apologetic. I did question myself about writing a review because of this. However, times are hard and if guests are spending their pennies I believe it is important that they are warned.

3 night stay, 2 adults, 1 dog (room 4). 3 evening meals. Drinks in the bar
Covid-19 restrictions were well designed and implemented. Staff worked well as a team to provide Covid-19 safe service whilst still being efficient and very pleasant, even on the busy Friday evening
Rooms are motel style so no shared corridors, lifts, doors etc. to worry about. Room fine: clean, good size, quiet (although very convenient for the A38), electric shower had good flow, mattress for those who prefer them on the softer end of the scale.
All 3 evening meals were good quality and excellent value. Tried different items each time but really liked the smoked Haddock fish cake starter, Caesar salad with chicken Tikka skewers, and homemade lasagna. A couple of cask beers, Pedigree + 1 local, Aspall’s cider on draught.

Check in was ok, but reception was unmanned when we arrived half an hour later than we had planned. It was only the second day after lockdown, so staffing issues expected. We found someone in the bar area and they came over to check us in, albeit without much friendliness.
The hotel is almost perfect to minimise Covid infection risk with the perspex screen protected reception close to the main entrance and each room having an external access door (motel style) where you can park right outside. Thus no need to share corridors with other guests.
The room (superior suite) was spotless and looked like it had been recently decorated. There was evidence of past water penetration in the curved ceiling but that didn't trouble us.
The bathroom (heated by a very effective hot air blower) had no bath, but a large shower and was also spotless. Minor niggles: noisy shower pump, no soap dish in the shower, small mirror immediately over the basin making shaving and make up application more difficult. A larger mirror on the other wall would have helped.
A complimentary breakfast was provided, which was an added bonus. Staff were very friendly and helpful with breakfast and checkout.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone nervous about using hotels after the end of lockdown.

We take my parents out every Friday and visited most places for a carvery, as we found this place during a Google search, we thought we would booked a table here. The reception we got was excellent, we were shown to our table, then went for our food, from the lady who cut the meat, the waiter who dealt with us at the table to the young lady who served our drinks, everyone was fantastic. The food was the best tasting food we have had for a very long time, the carvery was well priced at £6.50 (lunchtime Friday) the apple crumble was lovely too, the soft drinks we felt were expensive for the glass size. The dining room was spacious and well laid out. We will certainly return. We thought the waiter was superb and greeted everyone with a warm welcome. Thank you for a lovely experience.

This is a very nice place to stay for a night or two. The staff are very friendly and value your custom. Our suite was very comfortable and clean, yeas a couple of things may require a little updating but for around £84.00 per night it is excellent value. Plenty of free parking very easy access. Comfortable bed, the suite was over two floors, which could present a problem with access for some guests. The restaurant offers excellent food at very reasonable prices and the service was superb. Plenty of outside seating as well. The staff at breakfast offered were great as well very welcoming and friendly. We did not experience any noise issues, No hesitation in recommending this nice Lodge hotel

As a couple we have visited Littleover lodge for food on numerous occasions, whether it be for lunch on the way home from shopping in derby, or just as an outing for an evening meal. On this occasion we visited for an evening meal.

Being informed by one of the lovely waitress that that the establishment had a new chef we were both rather looking forward as to how it would be different. We had the cheesy garlic bread from the pizza oven to start which is always a big winner!! For mains my partner had the the lamb shank and I had the sea bass with which we were both very impressed by the quality and taste. For desert I had the brownie with pistachio ice cream 😋 and my partner had the white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake which she said was one of the nicest she has had!

Overall Littleover lodge is one of our favourite places for a quick lunch or a romantic candlelight dinner and we are never disappointed when we come away.
See you all soon and keep up the good work

I celebrated my 50th with a lovely lunch at Littleover Lodge. From start to finish, I was made to feel pampered and well-looked after. I was asked about my dessert preferences in advance, and then presented with a delicious selection of strawberry treats at the end of my meal. We all enjoyed the food, and given that my guest's ages ranged from 20 months to 81 years, that was no mean feat! Highly recommended.

It hasn't, The Lodge is owned by John Crooks of JC Hotels. He has owned The Lodge for 16 years however, this summer has seen a dramatic refurbishment along with the installation of an authentic Italian pizza oven
