Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I am a wheelchair user with specific dietary requirements, and I have to say that the staff were very cheerful and friendly. The room was spacious and clean, as was the bathroom. I had a few issues with heavy doors and raised lips over some thresholds, so I required some assistance at times. However, the staff were on hand and very helpful. We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant which was particularly good. The food was ample and delicious. We also had a walk around the grounds which are absolutely stunning!

Sunday lunch at Palm bar and restaurant Lydiard Park . Lovely surroundings at our local park which is only a short walk for us , thought we would try Sunday lunch there and opted for Belly Pork from the limited menu which we expected to be cut thick and the fat crispy , but nope , cut really thin and needed a magnifier glass to find any meat , mostly fat . … very small portion , very disappointing , very poor . If you go there do not choose the Belly Pork . A very disappointing first visit and don’t really know if we will go back and hand over another £66 of our money for 2 meals , 2 glasses of wine , 1 coke and desert . You need to take Belly Pork off the menu before you lose anymore customers . It really is taking the Michael.

I have just stayed for the week and the service was first class, the premises spotless, staff perfect and the whole building kept warm and comfortable. Looking forward to the next business trip in February, might even get a walk in the park as the days become lighter.

I was there in December and stayed in room 6. The room was dirty! the toilet was dirty and has not been cleaned. the room was not vacuumed. the linen was dirty and turned on the inside. The lady at the reception behaved very nicely! I really don't understand what that crazy lady is doing there! Her name is July that's what I understood as she was named when she was talking to other people. She is a lady with blonde and long hair. She had no patience at all, behaved badly and spoke very badly, disrespecting me because I was older. The rooms are nice, but they need to be cleaned, that's clear. The food was good, but the fact that that lady behaved very badly with me and spoke very badly to me, I can't give more than one star!

Visited for family Christmas dinner for eight with a baby and dog. Lovely, relaxed setting, with great facilities. Christmas dinner was good, however the puddings were below average. Especially the stollen with custard; more like baked, dried out scone with custard - had to use a knife and fork to eat it! Overall, a great venue for a relaxed lunch with reasonably priced food in a nice setting. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Fantastic Sunday Lunch at the new Palm Bar and Restaurant. I’ve used the conference centre for many years for work but recent improvements have created a fantastic new venue in the local community. Pre lunch pint (Arkell’s Hurricane) and cocktail were lovely in the lounge area and then we had a fantastic meal. The food could not be faulted and the staff were even better 🍺🍸🍷🍽️

New Palm Bar is nicely decorated and staff very friendly. We went for Sunday lunch and were told when booking I could not have 12.30 pm .........choices were only 12.00 , 2.30 pm or 5.00 pm. However we had to wait 40 mins for the food. Two couples arrived with babies for their reserved table at 12.45 ? ! Food .......meat sides had 2 roasted sticks of carrot and parsnip and 2 potatoes. As friendly as they are the staff need more training. Sauces brought very late with no spoon to serve. Toddler meal brought after the adults. Overall the place has potential but needs more work.

We had our Daughter’s Wedding reception at Lydiard House last Saturday. What a fantastic venue. Alex, the Manager was so helpful and approachable. Marcus, the Chef, along with the kitchen staff cooked a superb Wedding breakfast and evening barbecue. The Bar Staff, receptionists and the rest of the staff were so friendly, it felt like one big happy family. Many of us stayed at Lydiard House. The bedrooms are modern and comfortable with great touches, such as a Bluetooth speaker and great shower. Thank you all so much for making the day unforgettable.

Never judge a book by its cover is very apt with this hotel. Although it is not the most aesthetically pleasing from the outside, that all changes the moment you step inside. The decor throughout is really lovely. The room was very clean and well set out with an excellent accessible bathroom and an extremely comfortable bed. The food is absolutely delicious, including the full english. We ate in the restaurant on both evenings and were blown away by every course. The staff are very attentive, friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. A couple of minor things to note is that there are a few thresholds to navigate and the doors are very heavy, so when in a wheelchair you may require some assistance. Also, when closing any of the doors, they bang heavily which can be loud. Other than these minor points, we cannot fault this hotel and it's staff. We would highly recommend the Lydiard Park Hotel to anyone and we will definitely be back. I have to finish with the well known saying "you get what you pay for" which in the case of the Lydiard Park Hotel couldn't be farther from the truth! You get so much more than you pay for here! Thank you for making our Anniversary extra special. We look forward to seeing you all again soon.
