We booked a nights stay and parking for the weekend. Well, took us 25 mins to find the room, the numbers on the wall stated they didn’t go high enough for our room to be there however the staff eventually told us that the numbers on the wall are wrong and we were in actual fact in a room at the end of the corridor and they didn’t know why the signs were so wrong. Also, the staff member looked at the map on the wall of the hotel and then said it was wrong and of the opposite side of the hotel, this concerned me as the purpose of this map was pointing out the fire exits. Advertised as having a pool but doesn’t mention this will costs you extra, cost us £10 for me and my partner and daughter. On walking round the the pool we were greeted with a load of hotel beds just dumped in the grounds. Tv in room didn’t work, carpets grubby, mould in bathroom, window in room not secure and the most uncomfortable beds we’ve ever slept on. Even my 4 year old daughter commented on how uncomfortable her bed was. The whole place is in need of a refurb, didn’t try the food there as restaurant was closed but judging by the rest of the place I don’t think we would’ve wanted to eat there. expect a 1/2 star stay, we would not recommend or return, it was actually comical. They advertised that they hold weddings there, I think you’d be very disappointed having your wedding there, Id be embarrassed to invite guests to this hotel

We arrived at the hotel later than expected at approximately 6:15pm so we were instructed to check in, put our luggage in the room and go straight to the dining room with no time to wash or change, bearing in mind, we had been sat on a coach for 9 hours (plus a couple of hours stop offs).

The food in the hotel was bearly edible. the meat was dry, the vegetables looked as if they had been kept warm for a long time and the salad didn't taste fresh.
As a consequence. we hardly touched our evening meal.

When we went back to the room and had a chance to take it in, what we found was disgusting! First of all, I pulled the duvet back on one of the twin beds just to check that the bedding was clean as the room had a very old, musty smell, which seemed to be the same in the corridors, which could have been a problem as I am asthmatic and need to use an inhaler on a regular basis. The window had been left open (ground floor, French doors). I pulled the curtain back to close the window and found that the lock had been forced off at some point as there was a huge chunk of wood missing from the window frame, and the retainer was hanging loose from one door! To make matters worse, there were blood stains on the curtain lining!

I immediately went to reception to complain and the manager told us that there were no other rooms available and that all rooms smelled the same due to the age of the building. She said that the marks on the curtains might just have been food (they were definitely blood), even if they were food stains they shouldn't have been there! I informed her that I felt uneasy having to sleep in the room with a broken window lock. The manager was extremely patronising and flippant about my concerns. She had a 'couldn't care less' attitude. She told us that we had used the room! Ridiculous! She saw us check in less than an hour previously!

When I returned to the room, I discovered stains on the easy chairs, dust all over the furniture, the bathroom basin had a very bad crack across it, there was black mould round the bath, the bath sealant had disintigrated, there was a suspicious looking brown stain on one of the hand towels which looked like poo, and we later found that the shower didn't turn off properly without straining a muscle!

Worst of all, when my daughter pulled the duvet back on her bed, it was crawling with ants!

We didn't feel able to complain again as we had been treated so poorly the first time. I sat on the bed and cried. I just wanted to go home because the hotel was so bad. We considered getting the train in to London with our belongings and finding somewhere else to stay, but at such short notice it wasn't possible.

The whole trip was completely spoiled, and as a single parent who hasn't had a holiday for 12 years, my daughter and I had been really looking forward to our little break. We ended up spending as little time as possible in the room, and when we went to bed we had to fasten the handles together with a hair bobble in order to feel less vulnerable.

I didn't expect anything fancy as it was advertised as a budget hotel, what we got was atrocious!

Upon arriving at the hotel at 14:30 unaware of a 4 pm check in, the reception staff were rude and unprofessional totally ignoring me for 20 minutes. When they finally acknowledged me they were unimpressed I was checking in early. I offered to wait if I could buy a coffee to be informed there was no bar or coffee facilities available. The room was a very basic room in need of modernisation, the shower head was broken and dripping all night. The hotel offered free wi-fi on their website for a maximum of 20 minutes if you require more it will cost a further £7:00. There was no meals or bar facilities offered, one highlight there is a very nice friendly public house within a short walking distance which offers free Wi-Fi and good choices of refreshments and food. Next morning awoken at 06:40 by a member of staff offering a brown bag with breakfast items bought cheap from a local well known supermarket. The contents consisted of a instant porridge pot and a yogurt minus any cutlery to use. We were lucky our company were able to offer a very respectable alternative hotel. A feedback report has been submitted recommending the company remove the hotel from their databases.

We have used this hotel a few times. Stay there and enjoy your trip back into the 70's and 80's! If you want a comfortable bed, secure on site parking and a remarkable price (including the bar prices) you cannot go wrong with The Europa. If you are staying there for 'a hotel holiday' - best go to somewhere else.

It’s not 5 star luxury but I didn’t expect 5 star. Some reviews on here are harsh. To be fair, they are running this place on a skeleton front of house team. They do the best they can but suffer from lack of personnel post pandemic. Probably a mix of no good candidates and the bean counters not wanting to invest.
I paid £100 for 4 including g breakfast, so I cannot expect any trimmings.
A blitz with a duster, vacuum cleaner and a lick of paint would be ideal.
Bar is a bit slow but has a reasonable choice.
Room was fine, no issues, just basic.
Breakfast was superb.
Plenty of parking on site.
If you want luxury and to feel special; look elsewhere.
If you want somewhere basic to stay a night, then this is fine.
WiFi is prehistoric so dont anticipate doing anything online.

Our first break since lockdown. Arrived at hotel and found our room to not have the beds made or be cleaned. Hotel was badly understaffed and had to wait in our other room while they sorted things out. They brought us complimentary drinks for the trouble although forgetting one for one of our children. No phone reception anywhere in the hotel, it’s like it’s walls are made of lead. Really intermittent WiFi coverage and £7 per device for 24hours of WiFi. Shower broke and wouldn’t turn off in the morning. I spoke to reception and they said they’d fix it. I also complained about the patchy WiFi and said that I shouldn’t have to pay £7 for each of us (5 in total) couldn’t hotspot though as it wouldn’t allow me to share it. They said they would sort me out 5 complimentary vouchers. We went out for the day, on our return l checked with the desk for the vouchers and they wanted to charge me £35. I told them that they were supposed to be complimentary but they weren’t having it so I told them to forget it. They had stopped the shower but hadn’t made up our rooms or emptied the bins so we made all our beds. We couldn’t watch the family movie we wanted to due to the poor internet. We also wanted to swim and booked the hotel due to the pool, we were told when we checked in that we needed to book the pool due to COVID. We tried to call the number provided but had no signal. When I finally got through to them at 7.30am on Saturday I was told they were fully booked all day and closed Sunday. Pool was also an additional charge.
Also not major issue but drawings of naked women all over the walls of family rooms which created interesting conversation with the kids. Broken wardrobe door.
I thought hotels stopped charging for WiFi years ago when everyone realised it was a dick move. This hotel didn’t spend any time during lockdown decorating or preparing for things to start up again. It’s old and tired and one to avoid.

No stars. Poor service. Filthy room filthy bathroom. Staying with a 20 month old told no one available to clean it at all during our overnight stay so she cannot have a bath. It shows there is no cleaner as it doesn’t look like it has been recently cleaned! An hour wait for food to be told it hasn’t even gone through to the kitchen yet and no idea of when it would arrive. Tired looking hotel which I could accept if it was clean - it’s disgusting. The staff clearly receive a lot of complaints as when you complain or even ask a question they are extremely rude!

My partner and I decided to stay in a hotel prior to an early morning flight. The booking page advertised a special deal and close proximity to the hotel. The photos looked appealing and looked good in photos for the value of we were offered. However, upon arrival, at 10pm, we noticed it was very drab and in need of TLC.

The staff in reception were friendly but I could tell the facilities were a bit dated. We were given our room key and walked along to our room, trying to keep an open mind. The room was dire - their was mould in the grout in the bathroom tiles, the room was basic and very, very dated, their was a funny smell, left over bar of soap in the shower. The bed was uncomfortable. We left feeling a bit gross. It had the vibe of a cheap motel.

We checked out at 3.15 in the morning. To have stayed there for a few hours and be this disappointed says a lot; especially when we kept an open mind due to the value of the room. We weren’t expecting the ritz but the hotel was drab and needs serious renovating. The lack of care in cleaning the rooms is apparent.

I wouldn’t typically write such a negative review, and the staff we encountered were friendly and polite. We just feel that for such an ideal location and a promising set up of the hotel, there should be better facilities and nicer rooms.

Was very pleased with our stay at europa after reading reveiws. Hotel was alittle tired but clean. There was work going on to upgrade the restaurant conservatory which over looks the court yard. But didnt disturb our stay. Staff where friendly and very helpful. Room was large and clean. Bed was very comfortable and we slept well. room was very hot when we arrived but able to turn radiator down. Food was buffet plenty of choice and HOT. But bar served food if buffet not suitable. Downsides where ....stairs to get to restaurant not suitable for disabled people or elderly. Some of the sofas in bar where worn and ripped...just replace them. There was loads of sockets but none close to the bed i had to move bedside cabinet closer to charge mobile to keep it off floor as i used as an alarm for morning. A few of our party did have problems with rooms but they where moved staff where happy to sort problems when told.
A good place if going to airport as you can keep car there while away as well.
We enjoyed our time thank you europa.

Britannia group hotel . Well used but still usable hotel . Cheap stay for airport hops . Rooms are acceptable but lacks free wi fi in the rooms that you get in other hotels , in this day and age now you would expect it for free in the rooms not just the lobby .
Great to have a pool and jacuzzi to chill in , but i still find after going for a few years its still lacking that coat of paint and tlc everywhere . Food is acceptable and again normal Britannia hotel breakfast buffet or carvery , works for me . Hotel has taxi service it works with but budget 20 quid return in your costings to see if its worth it , plus extra for the pool gym and ofcourse wi fi .
