Stone Court House is a grand Georgian grade II* listed townhouse with parts dating back seven hundred years from the medieval period to the Tudor and early to late Georgian periods. Once the home of Lady Sackville of Knole House, Sevenoaks, top 5 National Trust and then the Crown Judges Lodgings for two hundred years, Stone Court House spans 1,100 sqm, offering guests the choice of six ensuite bedrooms, a two bedroom private apartment, four living rooms and a dining room with internal courtyard garden. All bedrooms are tastefully decorated with four-poster or sleigh beds, roll-top baths or showers, leather chesterfields and antique furniture throughout. The building recently underwent an extensive three year, multi-million pound restoration by its current owners, combing history with technology in luxury settings, guests can self check-in anytime after 2pm using our smart access systems/locks and can check in earlier upon request. We look forward to welcoming you to Stone Court House.

We had a lovely stay in this wonderful oasis of calm in Maidstone, located very centrally, which did mean there was some traffic noise, but with the very welcome fan in theroom (it was a hot one) we didn't notice it until outside the hotel. The room we had was lovely, clean and beautifully decorated. The little fridge with fresh milk and bottled water in one of the sitting rooms was a great idea. The owners are very welcoming and very helpful in advising good restaurants, places to visit - great hosts.

We really struck lucky with this amazing hotel in the centre of Maidstone. We considered the usual chain hotels but as we were going to a golden wedding party in the restaurant next door to Stone Court House we decided that for ease and convenience to opt for an overnight here. What a great decision!
From the moment we opened the massive street door we were struck by the beauty of the renovation. Photos really do not do it justice. It is simply stunning. The owners, Saban and Belinda have done a magnificent job of renovation, keeping historic features but adding tasteful aspects of luxury. They were very kind and helpful hosts.
We had booked the apartment suite to allow a room for my elderly mother. The apartment was massive. The sitting room had two huge comfortable chesterfields and other well appointed furniture that unbelievably still left loads of space to easily walk around. Our bedroom was large and had a 4 poster bed that wouldn’t have been out of place in a mediaeval castle. The main bathroom was large and luxurious with a marble floor and a roll top bath in the centre of the room. The second bedroom had a 6ft bed and en-suite with shower. The soft furnishings in every room were beautiful and tasteful as was the decor in each room. The attention to detail with colour and fabrics was just lovely.
The apartment was incredibly quiet and absolutely spotless.
The only slight area of concern I had was that there was on on site parking but I needn’t have worried. Saban had explained that parking was available just across the road. It was about a 3 minute walk away and my 87 year old mother had no problem walking from there to Stone Court House. The car park had cctv and my car was absolutely fine. I had prepaid on line.
We will definitely return to Stone Court House.

No sleep possible in this place!

869451510

We we arrived we were greeted with a door code which didn’t work the pad on the front door is faulty 1 double clicks when you press it. You are immediately invited to remove you foot wear… no slippers provided! The room was perfectly ok but satin sheets as standard were horrid changed by the hotel at no cost. The bed was a tiny double and floorboards creaked and we could hear the next door people in their room. Worryingly the welcome pack was full of rules and regulations and threats about what happened if you didn’t do this or that! It also mentioned that it could be very noisy at night because it was the middle of Maidstone! Ear plugs were provided. NOT in our room and boy was it noisy! Literally every vehicle Lorries and motorcycles mainly was if they were in our room. As a result we got virtually no sleep at all. My wife tried to sleep on the floor on cushions. But did not succeed. In the morning we left and asked for a refund due the appalling lack of sleep we suffered. We were refused and told that they would get the cleaners to refill the ear plugs in the room……. Never had a complaint about noise before. Why offer your guests ear plugs then? Any way sadly we did not enjoy our stay and the attitude of the owners left a huge amount to be desired. Needless to say we do not recommend Stone Court House if you want a good nights sleep in Maidstone!

Now for my side of the story. Firstly, the guest accessed the property without any difficulty and called me from his room to complain that the satin bedding was not good enough and wanted cotton bedding, which we changed. Then our doorbell rang and when I opened the door a lady, I assumed was the guests partner started swearing and shouting, no explanation just loads of F**king this, F**king that, very angry and abusive. I overlooked the behaviour but was obviously shocked as I was not told why this lady was so aggressive. The guest was standing close by but kept quiet. Then I got a call from the guest to say the smart tv did not work. I went upstairs and showed the guest how to work the tv, it was very simple and that was it. I went to bed woke up the next morning, no calls, no guest requests, no complaints. As I was seeing off another guest at our front door that morning, I spoke to both the guest and his partner and even offered them to take some chocolates from the bowl for their journey and wished them a nice day. There were no complaints. Then I received a rude and aggressive message stating that the guest wanted a full refund for both days because they had a terrible night's sleep. We have never had complaints of noise from our guests, this would be reflected on our review scores which is currently 219 positive reviews at 9.1 on Booking.com, 5 stars on Google Review and 4.5 on TripAdvisor since opening in June 2022. The vast majority understand and appreciate that the house is located in the centre of town. We sound-proofed secondary glazing installed at the front of house but to expect some noise. We provide all our guests ear plugs, as like any other hotel for guests that are light sleepers. All I can say about these guests is that they either had an argument between themselves and wanted to leave early with a full refund and/or they are just very angry people. Either way we would not recommend these guests to stay at your establishment unless you want complaints and agression towards your staff.

This hotel is fabulous and quirky. It felt a real treat to stay here. If you want boring / bland hotels go to your hotel chains, but if you want an experience of a lovingly restore period house treat yourself to Stone Court House.

Please read previous reviews so you are prepared for a different experience. Yes, ear plugs are needed at night as the windows have been lovingly restored so are not modern double glazing. However, I felt this was a small price to pay to admire a fantastically restored piece of history.

It’s central location is fabulous for any one visiting Maidstone for business or pleasure. Saban and Belinda are warm and caring hosts. Ignore the previous comments about strict rules - that’s ridiculous. There are gentle requests by the hosts to preserve the integrity of the building. The place is immaculate. There are many thoughtful touches from the host such as slippers, fresh milk, plenty of tea and coffee, chocolates in the main rooms. This is a family home and feels homely.

A hidden gem! Just prepare yourself for something out of the ordinary. Saban and Belinda are extremely open and approachable. Due to train cancellations I arrived after midnight and Saban had waited up for me - what more could you ask for. Five stars from me.

I had booked this beautiful home through a Facebook page, and was not disappointed. We used a code for the front entryway (which was sent to us beforehand), we were also given a code card to use for our room. As soon as you walked in the front door you were met by absolutely stunning views of a very grand home. The suit of Armour, the huge fireplace, the grand staircase, the fabulous dining room and lounge, the list goes on and on … it was all absolutely amazing! Saban and Belinda made us feel very welcome right from the start. The absolute grandeur of this home is breathtaking. I highly recommend staying here, just make sure to let them know ahead of time if you need parking (my mistake - oops!), but absolutely not a problem - car parks are nearby. Also they have an Nespresso machine, nespresso pods, tea, sugar available in the room; and there is milk and water available for you to use. They also supply necessities for the bathroom if needed. Loved it!! Thank you.

Amazing house very beautiful and everyone was so friendly , rooms were spacious, elegant and extremely clean!, provided us with fresh cold water bottles and milk aswell as a plenty of hit drinks. There was an abundance of drinks to choose from in the room we had a kettle and nespresso machine. Our room had its own lounge which was perfect for me and my friends to relax before going to our event in town.

They also provide you with shampoo ,conditioner, shower gel and not cheap stuff honestly the best place I have ever stayed and amazing experience i would definitely recommend to anyone .

As the title would suggest, this is arguably the best hotel I’ve stayed in in my life and I mean that. Came up for work thinking I’d been booked into an Ibis or Premier Inn and found myself in the most beautiful, historical hotel I’ve ever seen.
You walk into a reception room playing classical music, immediately relaxing you after a long day of work (or a short day, I don’t know your schedule). You must take your shoes off, understandably, to maintain the high quality interior.
I slept on silk sheets, had a stand alone bathtub with soaps and hair products provided and even a bottle of champagne gifted if you can believe it!!
The hosts were absolutely amazing and made us feel like royalty throughout the whole stay. And even that’s an understatement.

I truly cannot recommend this place enough. You have to come and see for yourself, you won’t regret it. Actually that’s a lie. The only regret you might have is that once you stay here, you’ll be ruined for other hotels for the rest of your days.

On entering the hotel you find yourself in a wonderfully sophisticated but relaxing environment.

The building is has been lovingly restored and has many fascinating features, including a full suit of armour, wide staircase, grand fireplaces and beautiful furniture.

It’s a treat to sleep in a four poster bed and although our room was smallish, there’s plenty of space to enjoy on the ground and first floor - comfy seats, chess, high ceilings and a grand, stately home ambience.

Generous toiletries are provided and face cloths. Fresh milk and jugs are available from a communal fridge if required and a good selection of coffee pods for the machine in the bedroom.

The location is perfect for Maidstone town centre, with a good selection of shops and multi story car park a few minutes walk away.

A bonus is the wonderful Italian restaurant next door to the Stone Court, which offers delicious food and good service for a reasonable price.

The hotel offers a tastefully decorated dining room with large table, if guests wish to eat takeaway food there - crockery and cutlery are provided. This is a kind and thoughtful provision.

Thanks to Belinda and Saban for being so welcoming and helpful.

This was our second visit and we cannot praise it enough. Stone Court House truly is a hidden gem. Despite its unpromising location on a busy road, once inside, guests are transported into a quieter, gracious time. Music plays in the hall (you can choose from a selection of cds or play your own) and guests are encouraged to make use of the varied spaces with comfy chairs and sofas, games and tvs, a large dining room and small patio garden. At present no meals are available but crockery and glasses are provided if you bring your own food. A wide range of drinks and snacks are available in room service. The bedrooms are attractively designed and furnished with antiques and period-style four poster beds, extremely comfortable with satin sheets. Future plans include providing breakfast and other meals, developing a microbrewery and possibly a pool, but for now, it offers an unique sense of peace and privacy that is in itself very appealing. Stone Court has been sensitively restored to reflect its 700 years of history and offers a warm welcome. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of experience. My husband and I love this place!
