Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well… where to start! Paid nearly £300 for two nights in a family room, family room is actually a normal room with two extra single beds crammed in! Before my visit I received a “confirmed booking” email with a price £150 more than I had booked for. The check in when you arrive is awful, mostly computer based, no human touch. The restaurant… 12 of us on a table, they wouldn’t come and take our order, I had to write down the meals then take our order, same with the drinks, we ordered and had to collect from the bar. Poor when you are spending so much money! The food took 45 minutes to arrive, as did the desserts! The place is shambolic, can barely wait for breakfast!!!! Part of a wedding party so the place has made a lot of money from us yet service is awful. Even had to carry our own dinner plates off the table!!!!

I stayed in room 186, the room was the dirtiest room I have ever stayed in, that is saying a lot as I travel world wide. The window had black Mould on and the walls have marks from a long time ago, I spoke with reception on the way out, she was shocked at my photos and said they have an issue with the cleaning team!! I was due to be staying 3 nights per week for 6 months, I have since chosen a different hotel, the place is unloved and dirty.. on a positive note, the food was of good quality and the bar area and staff were excellent.

Dreadful rude service from reception staff and pub and grill, rooms could be better, not enough towels, nowhere to hang wet towels, bathroom fan not working, bad lighting no extra pillows. Pub and grill service dreadful, loud noisy football on 5 tv’s! and loud supporters sitting at bar, could be cleaner and service was awful, couldn’t wait to leave although the food was nice. Breakfast very good and lovely ladies serving.

First time visiting a Village hotel. Very excited to be able to stay and use facilities like pool and gym. But disappointed that we had to share with outside members. Missed the swim Saturday morning due to kids coming in at 9am no time for swim and breakfast. Pub and grill was lovely bit quiet no music playing though so left early. Overall stay was lovely requested a bath for our room which was nice.

Ben in the Bar Restaurant was really good... gave table service for my group and I and made sure we were well looked after. Aneta on reception check-in always very helpful and director of sales Kelly has made sure we were well looked after on previous visits as well. Thanks to the team...

Needs aircon and more veggie options. The room was far too hot and bathroom water pressure left a lot to be desired. The restaurant was full of over powered spice but not much else and and lacking in veggie options. The Staff were all very helpful and pleasant.

The family room we booked was dirty and I don’t think I’ve seen that much rubbish under the bed . The cups looked as if they had been wiped with the bathroom towel. The receptionist didn’t smile at all on arrival and looked unhappy. None of the children’s tv channels don’t work.

The room temperature was 35 degrees. Completely unacceptable. I complained and was told to sleep with the window open, even though I was at street level. I was also told to put the fans on.. which they supplied because they already knew the room is above the sauna and extremely hot. I asked to move rooms and was told the hotel was fully booked (I doubt it was!). I got two hours sleep. Awful. Avoid. I also received no goodwill gesture or refund as the place is run by young inexperienced staff.

I’ve been to the Village hotel in Maidstone several times with work now and Aneta on Front Of House is an absolute angel, very welcoming , and would also class as a friend now, she definitely deserves some praise from work if she hasn’t done already!
