We had an unexpected water emergency, that caused us to find alternative accommodation, late on a Friday evening.

Doing an internet research we found the Grange Moor Hotel. The hotel is approximately 10 minute drive from Maidstone Town Centre. There is ample parking space at the back of the hotel unlike near by hotels such as Premier Inn and Travel Lodge which are located in the Town centre.

Over the weekend, for 2 people, we paid £97.02 for 2 night, and £60.30 in the restaurant for a starter, main course, medium glass of wine and liquor. Also if you phone the hotel directly to book, rather than doing a reservation online you can save yourself £4 per night!

Charmaine who we think is the manager of the restaurant was very welcoming and accommodating. Actually, we found all staff members equally as welcoming. We would recommend without any hesitation for anyone to stay at this hotel.

Hi Mr & Mrs P, So glad to see you here and thank you so much for your comprehensive and kind review. You have introduced our hotel well and no doubt, it will benefit customers who may consider booking with us. We miss you here but very pleased that you are now back at home, hopefully, there is nothing too insurmountable to sort out after the water damage. We hope you will come back on some occasions to enjoy our restaurant as our menu changes frequently. Our chefs are very creative and active and believe every dish should all be cooked from fresh produce. Our carvery is competitively priced so would save you having to washup.

The Grange Moor Hotel was our choice of a place to stay during our two night visit to the area.
Upon arrival the large car park at the rear of the hotel was spacious ,clean ,tidy and for security CCTV cameras were present.Reception were polite and helpful .The small room included a shower , double bed etc and the temperature of the room could be adjusted up or down .The restaurant area was decorated with a modern influence. We thought the drinks in the bar were on the expensive side.Breakfast included a choice of hot dishes, cereals and fruit with drinks ,plentiful and well presented. The hotel is only a ten minute walk into maidstone. Recommended for a short stay.

Dear David, Thank you for the comprehensive true and fair introduction of the hotel and thank you for your recommendation to stay with us. I am sorry that you are of the view that our bar is on the expensive side. In fact, we have not increased our drink price for 14 months now. We thought £4 for a pint of Ale and £4.10 for a pint of lager in the southeast area is reasonable. Maybe it is cheaper up in the north as the cost of living there is less expensive. Did you try our food? Many thought our food is excellent and is inexpensive. We hope you will come and stay with us again if you are visiting the area again. Kind regards Hsaio Managing director

When we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome and everything explained thoroughly. The room was a little dated but very clean tidy and well presented, bathroom was very clean. We had a drink in the bar the young lady that served us was very pleasant and welcoming she arrange for us to have a table for an evening meal. The food was lovely my partner she had a pizza which was home made it was lovely I had the Gammon again that was lovely too good size portions and everything reasonably priced

I've had to stay at the hotel last year due to work commitments and ended up staying for a period of 3 weeks on and off to finish a major project.

And so I got to know the staff pretty well and they made me feel like family. I must admit I was quite demanding as I got back at awkward hours of the early morning but the staff always went out of their way to assist and made things as comfortable as possible for me.

Not sure if all the rooms are the same style but my room had a 4 poster bed and a similar hotel room in London would easily cost a minimum of £150 plus per night.

And so usually we either have Xmas lunch at home or on occasion in London but decided to get the extended family/in laws to travel from West London to the Grange Moor for lunch. It's great value for money and the food reminds you of a hearty home cooked meal with generous portion sizes. But most of all, I wanted my family to experience the family touch this hotel gives.

After all it's the festive season where you want to feel good. Needless to say, both families enjoyed the meal, experience and the warmth of the staff. A few new members were also great and it just goes to show the detailing in the training they have been given by management.

I can't believe I'm writing a review on new year's day but we had such a great time, I thought I'd better write this now before I forget in 2020 lol.

We booked a triple room for one night due to attending a wedding in the area, we knew it would be dated decor because we had seen the pictures but we hadn’t read the reviews before going - which now we know was a mistake! We paid for early checkin so we could get ourselves sorted before needing to go to the wedding but despite calling the day before to confirm, the room wasn’t ready on arrival. The staff were very friendly and offered a free drink which we accepted but when the time is ticking it didn’t help the fact we needed access to a room. When the room was ready we were told it was ‘down the road’ when asked where, it was repeated ‘down there on the left where the sign is’. We were shown by being taken out of the hotel and pointed towards the sign at the split site, no offer of assistance with bags or suggestion of moving our cars down to the site. When we walked up to the building it’s like looking at a half way house, unloved and no attention to detail particularly in relation to curb appeal, it was like walking into Fawlty Towers, but a lot worse! As soon as you walked up to the front door it felt dirty, the stench of stale smoke was over powering, it was embedded in the carpets, the doors and the walls, it was so disappointing. We were in room 110 which was top floor, but there was no lift, so we struggled up the stairs passed the linen which had been thrown out onto the stairwell; I don’t mean meaningfully placed, it was ‘thrown’ to obviously be as far down the stairs as possible and whilst it was in the corner it was a hazard to those climbing to their room! We were pleasantly surprised when we entered the room as it did smell clean and also looked clean too, so that was reassuring- the sheets were clean and the bathroom spotless although the shower was one where you had to run around to get wet, but it was hot so that can be forgiven (didn’t check the mattress as we perhaps should have done having now read some past concerns!) We stayed as we didn’t have time to find anywhere else and it was simply somewhere to lay our heads for the night & it was clean to the credit of housekeeping; otherwise we would have walked out. On leaving the next morning, we did feedback to reception who suggested we email the hotel, which we will; we did notice no telephone in the room and no fire alarm, we were told people use their mobiles and cover up the smoke alarms to be able to smoke. If this is the case then they need to reinforce the ‘no smoking’ policy as stated on the signs as you walk in as this is obviously a huge risk. It wouldn’t take much to consider deadheading the flowers in the tubs and baskets outside to assist curb appeal, giving a lick of paint to the doors and windows and I appreciate it’s not cheap to replace carpets, but to deep clean them would be beneficial. Even though on the surface the room was clean and the staff were friendly the question is would we stay again and would we recommend this hotel and unfortunately the answer is no. Advice would be to spend that little bit extra and stay somewhere else; some may say ‘you pay for what you get’ but this should not be an excuse for anything when paying for a service, if you pay for it it should be worth every penny and this was not. I hope they improve and turn it around.

We booked a night here last minute due to no other hotels being available when my husband had unfortunately made a mistake with our premier inn booking.

I will start with the only positive to this place ………Polite, friendly and helpful staff.

This hotel is in major need of either a deep clean and remodelling or failing that - demolition and a rebuild. The whole place is terribly dated, dirty and has a terrible smell to it as you walk in the door (a heady mix of old alcohol, cigarettes, cannabis and body odour) The room we were given first (room 28) was just appalling. On opening the door the smell of cigarettes and sweat hit you. The bathroom was filthy, there was hair everywhere and there was what I assumed to be coffee stains on the shelf from a previous guest that hadn’t been washed off. Bathroom smelt of urine. Shower was rusty and dirty. Dirt marks all over the walls. Very dated decor which didn’t bother me too much but the dirtiness is unacceptable. We complained to the reception staff about our room (which we were charged £77 a night for) and was moved to another room (room 36) . The staff were really nice and dealt with it very quickly for us. The next room was much better than the first as it was at least clean but sadly the bed was badly damaged and had a huge dip in the mattress and the furniture in the room was damaged too.

So after a sleepless / uncomfortable night Housekeeping staff knocked on our door at 9am on a Sunday morning asking if they can “tidy the room” which we found odd.

We sat in the “lounge” area on the night of our stay to have drinks . The net curtains were black with dirt. The dirty glasses were still there at 10am the next morning.

Guests smoke (cannabis included) all throughout the hotel even though there are “no smoking” signs everywhere and it seems to be allowed by the management. The smell of cannabis is very strong throughout the hotel.

This hotel is extremely overpriced and very disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. If it wasn’t for the fact we were meeting family who we don’t see often we would have insisted on a refund and gone home.

Taps didn’t work, no flow from the cold tap, no towels, shower was a mess and the valves were rusted. Walls are extremely thin, can hear people talking and/or being intimate from three separate walls. In the early morning you can hear people out front when our room was near the back. Beds are hard and difficult to sleep on, pillows are flat which provides no support, comfort or height. Room gets far too hot with a window that only opens an inch or two, carpets had a stain and the wall mounted lamps weren’t even wall mounted. Price was far too high for what it’s worth & bar was always looking dirty with staff behind it doing nothing. In total the photos do not match the hotel, the facilities don’t match the price and the physical hotel needs to be redone.

A quiet hotel just out of the bustle and bustle of the town centre. A lovely premium room (37) with a four-poster bed, a quality shower with plentiful supply of hot water, tea/coffee making facilities. A quiet room despite being at the front of the hotel with solid walls so no noise pollution from adjoining rooms. Warm friendly staff, good food and a range of beers and wines to suit all tastes. A++

Have just attended the New Years Eve dinner/dance at the Grangemoor and stayed overnight. The dinner of four courses was quite exceptional and well served allowing just the right time between courses. The overall service was superb as was the breakfast the following morning after a good nights sleep in the cosy and adequate bedroom. All in all, excellent value for an excellent function. I think we’ll be coming next year!

A very basic hotel which looks OK externally and internally when you check in. The outside tables are nice in reasonable weather and there's a pleasant garden.

We had two rooms. The double was adequate though the single was little more than a hole in the wall. Still, often you get what you pay for.

The problems were threefold.

1. The breakfast buffet. Never in any of my hotel stays around the world have I seen a sparser one.

Preserves? Two sachets of honey (which on opening proved to have coagulated in the heat) and a batch of Nutella. Not a single marmalade or jam.

I asked the young waiter for more and he replied simply: "We've run out of them." After I asked why someone couldn't just pop out to a shop and buy some, a few marmalade sachets appeared on Day 4 of a 5 night stay.

The menu mentioned a selection of fruit. There was one apple and a handful of oranges, No bread, rolls, croissants or pastries.

2. Staffing

The cooked breakfasts were mostly fine, but served by kids. Well meaning but kids with no management in evidence.

Our waiter turned out to be running reception and doing basic maintenance (He put my shower back on the wall from which it had been hanging, telling me the manager was supposed to have done it but forgot).

A plus point was the friendly young female staff who were very helpful serving us small meals in the evening.

3. Wedding noise

OK we should have checked in advance but my room was directly above a wedding reception disco. I asked politely if the volume could be turned down after 11 am but was told the licence ran until midnight and that was that. The earsplitting noise went on until 12.01 but guests were still congregating outside my window and chatting until 2 am when an array of cars and taxis arrived to collect them. It would be interesting to know if licensing laws were observed.
