Travelodge Watford Central emerges as a mixed bag for discerning guests. While it's celebrated for its prime location conducive to exploring the city, the praise is occasionally tempered by complaints about noise. The hotel's service garners applause for staff friendliness, though some guests have experienced frustrating delays and breakfast hiccups. Rooms are generally viewed as clean with a hint of style, yet critics point out sporadic maintenance and cleanliness shortfalls. Despite these inconsistencies, many find the hotel to offer commendable value for money.

Stayed for 5 nights in June.
The room was purposely ventilated with open windows but with closed curtains - which is how it's supposed to be. I found it strange that you had to take out your duvet yourself and make the bed.
Eberything in room was good except for my nightlight which was very dim.
Wi Fi was excellent.
An advantage to Travelodge as opposed to Premium Inn is that there are windows that you can open.
There was a problem with noise at night from the street below but that's only to be expected in a hotel in the middle of town.
The food served in the evening was disappointing and I don't recommend it.
The main thing that bothered me was the lack of a service in the room itself. I had to take down my rubbish, (bag broke en route) wash the cups and ask for replenishments of the welcome tray.
When I pointed this out they claimed: "The cleaning staff are not allowed to enter your room for the first 3 days". Not allowed? By whom? By the hotel? By the government? By their union? On religious grounds? On the last 2 nights there was still no service in the room though I specifically requested so.
All in all it was really inexpensive so I guess one can't really complain.

Stayed two nights, two rooms, three generations off to Harry Potter World! Staff friendly, hotel clean. Rooms(family’s on third floor), had horrible smell of blocked toilets!! We did think the rooms were rather small for a family of four, compared to others in group. Beds clean, fresh and comfortable. One room’s toilet wouldn’t flush, had to empty kettles full of water down. Second room had loose and temperamental door handle. Smells were really quite strong at times. Breakfast usual good standard of Travelodge. Dining area small, with tables one behind the other like school, haphazard queuing and breakfast items stretched along a lengthy line. Lounging area of couple of sofas and tv was stuck in corner of room in full view of extremely busy light controlled crossroads outside, likened to sitting in a goldfish tank. Nowhere to sit comfortably with children. Evening meals same as all Travelodge menus but quality on second night was appalling. Hard, overcooked sausage, with mash so liquified a spoon would have been needed!! Chicken so dried and hard, was impossible to cut. Burgers cold and ‘claggy’. Chips and onion rings cold, rubbery and nasty. Plus side, the curry was good, as was the macaroni cheese. Refunded without question, but some of us went to bed hungry - a replacement meal offered, but was not a welcome idea. Travelodge please note - NOT everyone wants to go out into an unfamiliar area, with small children, looking for an alternative eating place!! You really could do better - you have lots of families staying because of Harry Potter!!! Staff more than helpful. Obviously an off night for kitchen staff as previous night had been acceptable. Hotel was handy for car parking in centre of town and not far from Harry Potter World. Stay in many Travelodge's up and down the country but not in this one again.

Great value for good-sized family room. Comfortable beds (2 put up beds for third adult or child)
Clean bedding including pillows and quilts. Outside noise loud from people and traffic with windows open so if hot wouldn’t choose this as no air con. Otherwise would recommend for all categories of people- 30 minute walk to train station with good links. If going to Harry Potter studios then shuttle bus next to station. We went into London so train took 30mins (but time varies depending which train you get). Parking- sort yourself two big nearby carparks both reasonable.
Had minor issue with marks on toilet seat but cleaned myself(always take antiseptic wipes for those things missed) but whole room very clean throughout so i was happy overall. Room fresh and clean on entering so top marks.

The corridors had a herbal smell, some may say it was marijuana .
Guests seem unable to traverse through the hotel without stamping there feet.
Guests seem unable to shut doors without the door slamming.
The room was boiling through the night, so upon opening the window i was met with the best obscenities being shouted all through the night.
Sleep facing away from the curtains as the light from the car park opposite lights up the room to a certain degree.
Good luck driving round the ring road that surrounds Watford town centre. If you miss the turning for the car park you have to drive round again.
The shower curtain needs to be longer to stop water from the shower going on the bathroom floor

The travelodge is in a really central location and is great for accessing the town centre and there is also discounted parking. The rooms were what you’d expect from a travelodge but light fixtures were broken, there was water over the bathroom floor and no soap in the dispenser. The assistant manger was quite rude to us on multiple occasions, both when leaving the hotel and coming back in at night. I stay in travelodges often with my work and I would not book that one again.

We stayed for two nights as part of our Mum's 60th birthday celebrations. We were visiting the Harry Potter Studio tour.
The hotel is about a straightforward ten minute walk from Watford Junction. To get to the studio tour, you can get a taxi there (which takes about 15 minutes and is very reasonable in price) or you could get one of the local buses (which we have yet to try). Not to mention, there are plentiful places to eat nearby, which you'd have no trouble finding somewhere to dine in the evening.
There was a lovely lady who welcomed us and took great interest in our stay. The rooms were lovely and clean and comfortable. The shower was absolutely perfect.

Breakfast was always consistently great! The cereals, fruit salad and quality natural yogurt was always a favourite. The full English breakfasts were consistently great. It was at this time we spoke to the manager who was so polite and he really took pride in his job: translating for European guests with great ease and chin wagging with ourselves with such humour.

Another young lady checked took our photographs before we went to the tour in costume, which was so kind.

Travelodge currently have an exceptional team of staff at Watford Junction that are a credit to the company. We felt really well looked after and know exactly where to stay if we are in Watford again. Thank you so much to everyone for making us feel so welcome!

Comfortable, convenient place in centre of Watford that will take dogs for a £20 charge. Booking online with them makes the room very cheap so even with the surcharge it was very reasonable. I would definitely stay at another Travelodge based on this experience

Overall an okay stay, you get what you pay for.

Staff are helpful and friendly we were checked in and out with ease.

Walked into our room and unfortunately we both weren’t too happy, the windows had been left open by the cleaners with the curtains closed. Felt a-bit like a prison cell, the room felt very dated, chairs all ripped and the tv a mile away from the bed over the other side of the room. A poor excuse for a kettle and some dirty mugs and no glasses for water.
lights at the side of the bed kept on flickering. the bed itself was not comfy at all, and no duvet was put onto our bed by the cleaners we had to get it out ourselves from a duffel bag that was in the wardrobe.

Horrible smell when we stepped out of our room on the night to use the stairs, and someone had left domino’s remains on the floor in the hallway.

The breakfast was okay, the warm food isn’t great. Only thing we were impressed with the most at the hotel is the USB charging ports!

Overall we are glad we only stayed one night, the staff are friendly but you unfortunately just get what you pay for. Also be prepared to park on the multi-storey car park next door to the hotel which will cost you £8 for 24 hours.

The room was basic as expected but the bathroom had no extractor fan and the electric radiator was not working (in winter). However as booked room for family of 4 were warm enough, cosy! The hotel only supplied towels/mugs for 3 guests as standard, you have to ask for 4th persons. Parking is in separate public car park next door to which we had prime view of from our bedroom window.

Stayed for 2nights in September. No air conditioning just a portable fan! It’s 2023 come on!! Nobody came to do a stay over clean on our room. Had to ask for fresh towels as they wasn’t enough for a family of 3 to start with and they don’t provide bath mats (which I find very strange especially for the amount you pay for these rooms) paid for breakfast for the first day we’re there and had to wait 20mins for any hot food to come out as it was empty when we arrived. Staff was ok but you can just tell their attitude is we ‘have what we have and there’s nothing we can do about it, so just deal with it’ location is really good as your right bang in the centre
