Staff, facilities and views were all great. In fact there were magnificent views from every window in the hotel. This is a good location for a break - even for non-golfers! We were surprised that there was no lift available when you are on the 3rd floor. Even though you could ask for help with suitcases, it wasn't volunteered at check-in - and you still have the stairs to contend with several times each day (NB we don't have mobility issues and are reasonably fit - more of a convenience thing for us). Also a bit disappointed with the very limited choices on the set evening meal menu (eg only six main courses, two of which were veggie, two meat and two fish), AND the menu did not change during our stay (not even with added "specials"). This meant that for stays of more than a couple of days you are running out of choices. Menu was also same as the sample on the website when we booked, so we don't know how often this is changed .…
Beautiful setting, with stunning views. The hotel is beautifully decorated and furnished in the communal areas, and the bedroom was comfortable and clean. I was surprised to find no soap supplied in the bathroom - perhaps I could have requested it, but it feels like a strange decision not to provide as standard given the pandemic. Also no information in the room about the hotel and the facilities, for example breakfast times or details of the spa, which was a shame. Again, I probably could have gone back to reception to find some, but it was a little frustrating.
Lunch in the piano bar. Had to wait a long time. Apart from a waiter, behind the bar, who was very helpful, service was awful. Would not recommend. Pity because the furnishings are lovely but better management needs to be put in place
The hotel itself is very smart with lovely grounds and the golf course. The room was pleasant with a lovely terrace. Unfortunately though the golfers passed by a little too close for comfort. We had asked for assistance with our bags but the receptionist was the only person available. The menu was limited and the food was bland. Breakfast unimaginative and the dining room staff all seemed to be part way through their training.
Where do i start with how fabulous this place is! ..from the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty! This venue is actually quite local to me and my husband, and we were looking for a luxury but local getaway, as we need to stay close to home due to family commitments/issues. ...and what a special stay it was! We had the most beautiful suite, immaculate and luxurious in every way (inclusive of a stunning copper bath) with views to dream of! The weather was perfect, so we were lucky to enjoy a delicious lunch and drinks in the garden watching people having fun playing croquet on the lawn and others playing golf on the breath-taking course they have! (we are not golf players, but still great to watch with a glass of wine or two!) Dinner was totally above expectations, including Scallops cooked to perfection, divine Ox Cheek, the finest fillet steak, superb local Bibury trout, and the desserts were of the highest class in presentation and taste! And breakfast was of equal excellence. But last but definitely not least, the staff are what i can only call a 'dream team' ….a perfect mix of total professionalism, care and grace, along with great humour and a very obvious love and respect for the wonderful venue they work at and clear honour for the family based company they work for. ...all in all a 5 star stay (within 20 minutes from my home)! ..i cannot recommend this venue enough, thank you for the perfect stay! We will see you soon, and bring along our little cockerpoo next time, as we didn’t realise that you are also dog friendly, and hopefully have time to make use of your beautiful SPA 😊 Love and best wishes to you for a great summer Jenny & Greg…
We received a warm welcome on arrival and we were msde to feel that way throughout our whole visit. Our room was spotless shoeer and bed teally good. Alk topped off with lovely views we shall DEFINITELY be returning sdso.
Golf trip with mates. Excellent all round. Comfortable rooms. Excellent choice for breakfast. Bed breakfast evening meal 3 rounds golf and buggies deal - excellent value. Evening meal was outstanding. Whilst my golf was not brilliant the course was very good (long for high handicapper) with some tremendous views
Hi, we get respite, one night away, maybe 6 a year in total. So they are very valuable to us. We also see a lot of different pubs/hotels etc. We book via: Off Peak Luxury, Booking.com and also directly with pubs and Hotels. We booked a one night stay via OPL back in March, and had to cancel as our Son's carer had Covid, TP and OPL rescheduled our visit, and we subsequently had to cancel that to, again as our sons's carer inadvertently second booked us with a wedding he had promised to attend that was cancelled because of Covid the year before! So rearranged yet again for Sunday 1st May. Exemplary goodwill gesture from the Hotel and OPL for the second cancellation. So third time lucky we arrived yesterday for our pre paid break. This is a very constructive review of our stay and we hope that the owners will take the following comments as good positive feedback for the future. We arrived 2 p.m. our room was ready, bottle of Prosecco chilling. Lovely. Enjoyed our afternoon swim. Returned to our room, fancied a little afternoon snooze and the bed was not made up correctly, ie. the superking quilt was not positioned correctly within the duvet cover. Ie. all sheet and no duvet? Rang reception and housekeeping and I, between us laughed and tried to put right... not easy and was still not right. Getting dressed for Dinner, the dressing table light didn't work, not enough light to do my face!!! AAH. Rang Reception to advise. Later put the TV on ... didn't work... battery life in remote was zero what we expected. Reception promised to put right whilst we were at dinner. We came down for pre dinner drinks, but were disappointed that all of the amazing candles were not lit... limited attention to detail, if they were, then the whole ambience of the hotel and our experience, would have been amazing. Or evening meal was amazing and couldn't fault the food, the waiting staff oozed personality, unfortunately the welcome from the Restaurant Manager sadly lacked the same enthusiam. Couldnt eat all my steak and the lovely waitress boxed it up as requested ... "for the lovely cat" nice personal touch. Arrived back to our room, and everything was now working ..so batteries and light bulbs duly replaced. Suggestion: perhaps housekeeping staff could check things work whilst cleaning the room? We came down to breakfast and were met with the same grumpy Restaurant Manager, and were not offered the Smoked Salmon and Scrambled eggs that I would happily have paid the £4.95 supplement. So had the buffet offering instead. This is constructive feedback, we enjoyed our stay overall, but when you get limited time away for a treat, you want it to be right. I'm trouble shooting 24/7 so when I'm away I don't want to be troubleshooting what should be already taken care off. Best wishes.…
Can't speak highly enough of this venue. Just had a golf break for 28 and everything about it was absolutely first class. Right from the initial booking process it was a great experience. The food was superb, all the staff welcoming, friendly and efficient, the rooms were top notch and the course was in great condition. Full marks to everyone involved.
A really nice and unexpected hotel. the public areas are all updated ( a little overheated) and very nice to be in. The hotel certainly welcomes you in and makes you feel good about your choice. Rooms are also nice with lovely views though the walkways could do with a bit of a tidy. food was great and breakfast was one of the best we have had so would highly recommend and would definitely go back
