On arrival we were met with a very warm welcome from Alex (manager). We were shown our pods and our added extras were already inside (firewood pack and S’mores kit). At 5.30, Alex walked around each pod to let everyone know that it was feeding time for the sheep and chickens, which both children and adults took part in and really enjoyed.
The site is lovely, relaxed, friendly and peaceful. The pods are nicely spaced out and there is space in front of and to the side where you can sit outside.
The lodge is a shared space where there is a kitchen area, vending machines, seating and some toilets. There is a one way system in place and plenty of hand sanitiser and wipes for cleaning touch points, so it felt covid secure.
As dusk set in, the fire pits outside the pods were set alight and it just looked and felt so wonderful, such a lovely atmosphere!
The lake was popular and although we didn’t do any fishing this time, we are certainly going to give it a go next time.
The guests all respected the 9.30pm and 11pm noise/sitting outside cut off points so everyone could get a good nights rest.
This was a perfect antidote to working from home and teenagers being on the xbox / phones etc. and we are definitely looking forward to returning.

My partner and I absolutely love it here. We have visited 3 times now, twice in autumn and once in spring. Excellent value for money! The autumn visits were lovely and cozy in our heated pod. We had dry weather and clear skies, so when sat out around the campfire at night we could see all the stars. The fishing lake is really pretty and you can enjoy a nice peaceful evening or morning walk around it. Our recent spring visit was lovely, it was busier with families than our autumn visits, and we didn't need a heated pod this time so we were able to camp at what seemed to be the quieter end of the field.

What's available -

If you are on a budget the basic pods are perfect, unless in the autumn where it may be worth paying that bit extra for the heated ones. Some of these have views of the lake and we were lucky to be in one of these on our first two visits.

There are some basic trailer toilets and showers by the lake, next to the car park and right near the pods.

There is a lovely cozy cabin with seating areas and vending machines. Also, a kitchen with sink, kettle, fridge, hobs and microwave (all free to use). There are large shower/toilet rooms in here too which are warmer than the trailer ones.

There is a little shop that sells bits and bobs to keep the kids happy. When we went this May There was a gourmet burger van on site which was brilliant! Although if you prefer you can bring your own BBQ and cook outside of your pod. Each pod also has a campfire you can put your own wood in. Don't forget your camp chairs!

There are two single beds with mattresses in each pod which can be pushed into a double and you can squeeze 2 small blow up beds in for young children, but there won't be much floor space left if you do. Again cozy! There is a small battery powered night light hung in each pod too, and you can pay extra for different little touches such as fairy lights.

None of these pods are electric but you can charge things in the large cabin, and maybe take a few games to play while you wait.

They also have bell tents and a few pods with hot tubs now which look nice... I'd take a wind breaker for a little extra privacy if you stay in a hot tub pod (if you are bothered by people walking around the lake seeing you).

Hygiene overall is good for camping, they were never short of soap or toilet roll for example! The bathrooms obviously aren't going to be that of a five star hotel, but they were clean and I was happy to use them.

And last but not least, the owners are brilliant! The man walks around each night before going home to check everyone if okay. He also comes over in the day to see if any families want to help with feeding the sheep and chickens which I thought was a lovely and thoughtful touch.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay and it was absolutely perfect.
We had a friendly greeting and the staff don't stop all day constantly cleaning and making sure everyone is happy.
The pods were clean and i was surprised at how comfy the beds are.
The kids loved meeting the new lambs that have just arrived and getting to feed those and the chickens.
The facilities were clean and felt safe using in the current circumstances.
We will definitely be returning.

Wow! I am surprised this place had availability. We booked at the last minute, pretty unsure on where or what we were heading to. We were not disappointed one bit.
Greated with a warm welcome and the stay just got better. From entering the site we know it was going to be good.
Pods are compact, 2 adults 1 child and 2 border collie dogs made for a very cosy stay, but it absolutely works. We had the weather on side and took advantage of the fire package. All facilities were clean and well presented. No awful smells that sometimes creep in throughout the day on a campsite, the lodge or shack as my son like to call it had excellent facilities. Again clean and comfortable.
We spent the day fishing and the guy on shift that day again was friendly polite and just so welcoming. Fishing was fantastic I got my personal best and the hubby was a little miffed but hey ho! Beginners luck I'd say. Every carp we caught was clean and of a good weight. Hubby recommends heavier line than 6lb as they put up a good fight.
I genuinely have no criticism, go and enjoy the outdoors. Oh one thing our mobiles died and we never charged them as didn't want to waste time sitting with them in the lodge waiting. We never needed them or the Internet so unfortunately no pics. But that's our fault. Was lovely to talk and be together as a family 👪

We were recommended Stanley villa by a colleague and what a recommendation it was! We arrived at around 16:00 and were met by 2 lovely staff members who were very welcoming and very informative. We were given all the information we needed for our stay and then shown which our camping pod was. They have carts which can be used to take things to your pod from the car which made life a lot easier! There are plenty of showers and toilets and also plenty of fridge/freezer space, a kitchen that can be used by guests and washing up facilities.
The on site shop has everything you could think of from pot noodles and chocolate bars to disposable BBQ’s and lighters.
The atmosphere was perfect, everybody was very chatty and very welcoming. The staff came round before they left on an evening to check if we needed anything before we left.
We would definitely recommend Stanley villa to anybody and we will definitely be visiting ourselves again.

What a beautiful setting, well kept with plenty of communal space, ideal for small family or couples short getaway.
The huts are well kept and have enough space between them for you to secluded yourself from other visitors or indeed socialise, the rules are straightforward and fair no noise after 930 pm and no sitting outside after 11pm (this was adhered to by all) and helped with the tranquility of the venue.

If you decide to take a rod and fish the lake a word of warning make sure your gear is up to it as there are some units in the lake that know how to snap you off (3 lost fish, 3 x 6lb guru qm2 hooklengths and one method feeder later), this however did not put me off and eventually I pulled a lovely 14 - 15 lb common out.

The lake is well stocked and the fish that I managed to wrestle out were in good order and of a good stamp with a few showing spawning marks (normal for this time of year).

I would advise no less than 10lb line with 8/9lb hooklengths if fishing as a pleasure angler, if you are a carp hunter with all the gear you should do just fine.

The on site team were extremely helpful and the facilities are perfect.

All in all a fantastic stay and would definately visit again.

We came here with our friends who had already been before.
The pods were spotless with 2 nice comfy single beds in there.
The facilities on site are great, a lodge type building with sofas and tables. We spent our night in there playing cards and having a couple of drinks. Fridges are also provided in the ‘lodge’ to keep food cold. Plenty of toilets on site and showers.
Handy shop for the basics, toiletries, eggs butter etc.
Alex was great, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
We will definitely be booking to return again soon.

We have just returned from a lovely stay here. The site is lovely, very peaceful. It is kept very clean, the lodge with all the facilities is spotless and very warm, you can make tea snd coffee and sit in if the weather turns. The showers were very warm and clean. The pod itself was clean and very cosy. I would suggest if you have teens 2 pods would be better...we were a family of 4 and it was a bit of a squeeze but apart from that I could not fault the site. The owners were very friendly and the shop is well stocked.

Has a first time camper/glamper i was so worried i would hate it but this place has really changed my mind on the whole out doors thing the pod was just so cosy smaller than I thought it would be but that just made it feel more cosy the camp fire was amazing you just can't beat that crackle from a camp fire we sat with no phones no TV and just talked and got back to basics it was so lovley.
The club house cabin was really spacious big shower/toilet rooms plenty of seats and the sofas were sooooo comfy plus 2 vending machines if u need that sugar kick and the there is also a self serving kitchen kettles microwave etc.
I'm a home body who hates the cold and not a big fan of nature but this was just amazing and I will 100% recommend to anyone who is looking for a diffrent kind of place to stay.
We took our pooch and the guy at reception I think he was called Wayne helped us out with a peg for his lead so he could have a bit of freedom he was also so friendly and im sure I could have asked him for anything and he would have helped I was expecting a farmer type guy with a attitude haha but he couldn't do enough for the people there.
There is a lovley fishing lake we went for a walk round it and got soooo muddy but that just added to the experience 😀 the night sky was so bright with stars something you just don't get to see were I live and you can hear the animals at night.
The pod was just what you expect for a back to nature and basics stay in the colder months I would recommend fluffy socks and blankets haha.
There are plenty of extras you can add like table and chair hire and little packages like stores and birthdays stuff the fire package was brilliant it litrally had everything you need to make a little camp fire to sit by and just be at one with yourself.
I have quite a high intensity job and get stressed out from it all but iv come home feeling so stress free and chilled out the only thing that could be changed for me is the mattresses are a bit to thin for me but I suffer with a bad back anyway from a previous injury but I no this for my next visit now so I will take a mattress topper also I would have loved an actual double bed rather then 2 singles has im a snuggler at night and the mattresses moved when I did but I can live with that and sure my husband was happy for a peicfull night hah
Thank you so much for anlovley experience

The best time as always, returned many of times before.
Could not recommend this place enough. Lovely to get away with the family and have a little time without technology getting in the way. Took our dog as we stayed in a heated pod.
There was a food wagon (Penny Farthing) visiting the site which was a nice change to us usually taking and cooking bbq food. Alex emailed a couple of days before to let us know and attached the menu. The food was absolutely delightful and reasonably priced, we had hot dog, chicken burgers and dirty nachos. The nachos were delightful and I’ll be tracking him down for more in the future.
The lodge was all decorated for Halloween and Alex even did a Halloween pumpkin Hunt around the grounds which was lovely, the kids got a cup of sweets for completing it.
Facilities all clean and tidy no complaints there.
On site shop great everything you could possibly need and very reasonable prices.

Honestly it’s our favourite local night away and I’ll be returning until my son is too cool to come with us.
Thank you Alex you do a fantastic job!!!!!

Hi, We can allocate you a pod close to the facilities, if you email us with your booking details we can then make a note on your booking. The facilities are then just a minutes walk from the nearest Pod. Many thanks.

Answer from Green4lynn
Hello - you just bring airbeds with you (or we hire them on site if it's easier). Many thanks, Alex
Answer from AlexYoung123
Blackpool, England, United Kingdom32 contributions
Hello, Thanks for your message. From 12th April 2021 to 17th May - we're not allowed 'communal facilities' - so the main lodge that has electricity is closed. However you can give us your airbed to inflate for you (or we hire them for £3 if you need one). In terms of Dogs left in Pods - this is a no. It would be similar to leaving them in a hot car for the day and potentially dangerous for the dog. After 17th May - you can charge your items in the Lodge again (pending restrictions being lifted). Until then - you can either charge it in your car - or we hire out battery packs for £5. Hope this helps - Many thanks

Hello - full fishing rules on our campingbugs website. In terms of the best bait - it really varies depending on many factors - but house pellets and boilies always do well. These can be purchased on the day. Many thanks
