Popped into Wagon and Horses for lunch for the first time, very wet day but pub was warm and cosy with log burner going. Staff were very friendly and the sandwiches were exceptional. My friend and myself felt it was a really relaxing pub with character. Many thanks

We had 48 hours. What would we do? We chose Lancaster and used Trip Advisor to locate good tourist venues and a place to stay. Other people's reviews led us to the Wagon & Horses and it lived up to all the praise: friendly welcome, excellent food, comfortable room, view of the river and a short walk into the city... More

The food here gets better and better! The menu includes lots of things I've never tried before but everything is fantastic - full of flavour, presented beautifully and served by cheerful staff. I like everything about this pub - the drinks, the music, the furniture, even the loos! It's a friendly and welcoming pub but still feels like a place... More

We stayed for one night last year, and liked the place so much we returned this year. Such a nice welcome at this pub/hotel, the owners and all the staff we met at lunchtime, evening and breakfast were friendly and efficient. The room we had was small but very comfortable and has more than one rock star connection! All 3... More

We were heading off to the little island and as per usual we opted to stay the night close to Heysham to make life a little easier and avoid the panic of dragging ourselves across the country and trying to dodge traffic on the M62 and M6. On arrival we had some difficulties and frustrations getting parked as there was... More

Always one of our favourite places to eat but tonight was exceptional. The Surf and Turf starter is, quite honestly, the most exquisite food that I have ever experienced. Gammon rack was melt in the mouth delicious. Just wish we didn't live so close so that we could have an excuse to stay there overnight. What a wonderful way to... More

Stayed here last week and am sorry that it was only for 1 night. Lovely clean pub and accommodation with great fresh cooked food. A special mention for Charlotte who was a very charming host from the minute we arrived. Would definitely recommend this place and will be back to visit again

My first impression of the Wagon & Horses was a bit shocking, because I didn't know that the hotel was also a pub. And I thought: "wow, this is going to be really noisy". But that was not the case: apart from one day, when there was a jazz concert (which also didn't long until very late), I could not... More

Very friendly staff. Greeted us as soon as we walked in with smiles. We were served at the bar very quickly. Great atmosphere. Although we didn't eat at the pub, we were tempted by the lovely food that was being served and prepared. We'll be back again very soon.

Fairly typical of modern gastro pub raised by welcoming and helpful staff .Beers and cider on tap were well kept and food was well presented from an extensive menu .It is a place you could happily visit numerous times but somehow doesn't quite reach that extra special level.Maybe it is the location ?
