Great little hotel room, we stayed in the family room and had ensuite bathroom/toilet. We had a double and a single, wardrobe, dressing table, kettle and tea/coffee supplies and a TV.
Towels were provided too.

On arrival we had a lovely welcome by one of the barmen. Check in wasnt until 3 but we had a wedding to get to and they arranged for the room to be available earlier.

This was the cheapest local room to the wedding venue and it was fine and parking was available too. It did what it said on the tin. We would return if we were visiting the area again.

In regards to getting into town, its about £7 in a taxi, there aren't any local uber drivers in that area so you're better calling a local firm. (Alpha or Micks Cabs)

First time I have eaten here and have to say the food was delicious and well priced. Traditional food well cooked and a good menu choice. We had lamb casserole and steak and ale pie.both were very generous portions . Well worth a visit. Pub / dining area could do with a bit if refresh but pleasant lunch. Would definitely recommend.

We were staying here for one night as attending a party.
We were given the choice if rooms.
Staff were very accommodating and helpful.
The bar area was lovely, clean and welcoming.
The rooms were perfect for what we needed. We were out all Saturday night so can't comment on noice level, but to be fair u would have expected noice as description is accurate - I mean you are above the pub! - so honestly wouldn't have bothered me.
We had a lovely meal and breakfast was good too.
It is obviously well used by local community because it got very busy for meals as the night went on, which I think is recommendation in it's self.
Would definately recommend and would go back again..

No breakfast available even though the website I booked through stated there is a full English breakfast available every day for guests. Twin room was incredibly tired and shabby with very little furniture. Window in bedroom did not close, so cold winter wind was blowing in. Bathroom was tiny. No evening meal available upon arrival as chef had gone home.
Decided not to stay even though we had paid in full. Found a much better hotel for £1 more, with newly decorated rooms, breakfast available and an evening meal. Definitely made the right choice not to stay.

Definitely would not recommend…. The pub itself was ok. But the rooms were awful. The smell in the corridors were absolutely dreadful. And the rooms not much better. This should not be advertised for people to actually stay in. My daughter has stayed in youth hostels 100% better than this. The gaps in the windows were so bad we had to use all the towels to try and keep the wind out. It was freezing, we couldn’t get toilet paper out of the holder. There was less than a cm worth of hand soap to wash your hands. As the pub looked ok thought we would eat there (before we had seen the rooms) but although they advertise food it was not available on that day, which meant we had to walk somewhere else in the cold when I booked knowing we didn’t have a car.

This is possibly the worst hotel I’ve stayed in for about 10 years.

As well as a chugging radiator, the worlds flattest mattress, stained bedding and minging carpets, the bin was still full from the last guests.

There was one cup and glass between the two of us and no spoons just a used plastic fork with stains on it. I’ve never had ketchup and mayo as an option in my tea tray either.

I wrapped a towel round my pillow as I couldn’t fathom putting my face directly on theirs.

I couldn’t even have a drink of water or a cuppa tea as it came out the tap like this!

There was no one around to complain to as it was late when we got to our room and we left before anybody turned up in the morning

What a dump

Called in a few times lately as we are locals.
A great atmosphere the new owners are creating, as this pub has been souless in the past.
Last week we noticed a couple of ladies Christmas parties going on, and they had nothing but praise for the establishment.
Well done on revamping the venue and bringing some soul to a good old English pub.
Keep up the good work. 👍

Arrived to find one carparking space free. The rest were taken up by Bodgit and Scarper Builders. Managed to squeeze in between 2 vans that were valet parked by Stevie Wonder.
Struggled throigh a packed bar and were greeted by a very amenable chap who gave us valuable info on the area as we were house hunting. Learnt that Penistone had a completely different pronunciation than expected. Eventually got shown to the Honeymoon Suite overlooking a yard full of beer barrels
Just right for two lasses looking for a good time. Discovered the loo hiding behind the bidet. Oh hang on....the shower. The decor was interesting. The stains on the floor matched nicely with the wallpaper. Lots of strange noises. Think they were either the trio of plumbers next door checking out each others u bends or a colony of cockroaches making a bid for freedom.
There was a pube in the sink and a toenail nestled in the carpet. The wardrobe consisted of 10 assorted hangers of varying sizes. Most appropriate was 18 STD..Lets hope it wasn't an omen as the local pharmacy was shut the following morning. The bed was small and uncomfortable. Much like the haemorrhoid I developed due to being wedged on the loo for 2 hours.
No breakfast offered so we were forced to eat at the local Carvery where the service was frostier than Rudolph's plums.
Having said all that we had an amusing stay. We haven't laughed so much since we accidentally booked into a brothel in Russia.
No disrespect to the staff. They were lovely. And at £45 a night....hey ho.
🤣🤣🤣

Ok here goes, room very small, headboard bangs against wall at every movement.
Bathroom tiny, very cold on arrival until heating came on around 6pm.
Noisy, if you like banging doors and voices from next bedroom then you'll love it.
Grubby carpets, towel holder fell off wall and bedside drawer fell out on the floor when opened.
Double room was £49.95 it wasn't even worth that.
Food we had steaks very poor quality, no salad just chips and peas even though I asked for no chips and salad only, £12.95 I've had better from asda for £3.50.
Entertainment is loud goes on till late, they only tell you that after you've paid. If you like karaoke you will enjoy it.
Group of 4 adults none of us would return.

My dad and I decided we wanted to go somewhere nice and quiet for a roast dinner, having been there in the past we both agreed there Sunday dinners were nice so decided to go there. Well I wish we hadn't! We walked in to a pub full of drunks, the music was so loud you felt like being in a pub in the town centre. They had
Table football in the back room which massively makes the place look awful, and the place was full of drunks. Me and my dad ordered food (it wasn't the best) we could hardly hear ourselves talk the music was so loud and we had a drunk man coming up to our table he didn't even no what planet he was on never lone which pub he was in!! The only nice thing about that place was the lovey lady behind the bar! Who told us she used to do the Sunday roast dinners, a message to you is I would take yourself to a new pub where your skills can be of use and appreciated. Who ever owns that place now really need to sort it out quick or its going under which quite frankly at the moment I don't think anyone would miss it!

Yes, no problem. Your room key has a key to the hotel side entrance. You can come and go freely at any hour. Kind regards.
