Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not particularly friendly or welcoming. We asked if they did bacon sandwiches or anything similar, lady behind bar said no, we later found out they did hot baguettes. We ordered coffees which took ages (they weren't busy) and were mediocre. The toilets need maintenance, no lock on one of ladies cubicle, then door got stuck with no handle to pull on. Won't be visiting again.

Fantastic visit. Had a superb meal in the restaurant and stayed over in one of their rooms. The steak and lobster grill was magnificent. The room was spotless, design is superb and very comfortable bed. Highly recommended place to eat and stay.

Went for a family meal, woman behind the bar seemed very uninterested, no warm welcome or even a smile. Ordered our food which when came out was below average, chips were dry and hard, frozen onion rings and the most disgusting blue cheese sauce which was more like vinegar and very gelatinous!! Thankfully my steak was ok. Daughters burger was overcooked and grisily, she didn't finish it. Young lad serving was very good but seemed to be rushing around doing everything while there was another waitress on, who seemed to be on go slow. We won't be returning.

Visited for the first time with friends. Serving staff were very pleasant and helpful, especially the young man. Food was ordered and served quickly. Unfortunately, when it arrived it was mediocre at best. One of our party found a hair under the meat on her plate - (young server apologised but nothing more was said). Atmosphere wasn't brilliant with only one other table of 2 people dining on a Saturday evening. The pub is dog friendly which is no issue at all to us but I take exception to dogs being allowed to sit and eat on upholstered furniture where people will sit not to mention eating from a table! I doubt if we will be making a return visit. Hope management take note of comments and act accordingly as this is a very nice establishment and could be so much better.

We have visited this pub, a favourite of ours for the last 40 years under different owners, many many times over those years. It was a very sad time when it closed but hugely exciting when it reopened in 2021. However having visited more or less weekly during the winter months for drinks, there was absolutely no warm welcome or greeting. Very off putting and uncomfortable. The atmosphere is not as it once was. Certainly not encouraged to visit to eat with or without family. So sad. The second star given only because when we were there last time the sun came out and cheered the gloomy atmosphere.

We hadn't been to the Blacksmith's for a long time and decided to visit with some friends who didn't know the place at all. The atmosphere was really good, the staff were friendly and the pub was fairly busy so we were quite optimistic about the meal. We all had fish and chips and were all really disappointed. The food tasted as if it had been cooked earlier and then kept warm. The chips were overcooked and hard and the fish was rather dry with soggy batter. Mushy peas (served in a gravy boat) were obviously tinned ones and the tartare sauce was out of a jar. Although I made a small remark to the waiter about the general standard, I didn't pursue it as I would have done if my husband and I had been alone - maybe with hindsight I should have done. All in all I don't think we will visit again.

Visited with the ‘eat out to help out’ offer, they managed to fit 3 of us in last minute and we were so glad they did. Staff gave a nice welcome, very friendly and our business felt appreciated. Good selection of drinks on tap, 3 lagers and several ales. The menu was good but I assume limited due to lack of starters but this wasn’t a problem considering the ongoing issues worldwide. Between us we had the burger, fish and chips and the gammon and egg. Portions were very generous especially the fish and chips, we all commented how nice our meals were and I managed to squeeze the sticky toffee pudding in before we paid. Overall very nice food, lovely staff and highly recommended.

Had a excellent Sunday lunch here. Would thoroughly recommend this tucked away pub in Everton. Couldn’t fault the meal at all and very reasonably priced. We shall definitely be back when we next visit family in Everton
