Absolutely brilliant experience considering the price! We knew we were going to be late to check in when stuck in traffic so called up to let them know and they said they hoped we were okay and wished us a safe journey - so kind! Staff were super friendly and welcoming which was lovely!
The bar was closing as we arrived but we still managed to get a drink before heading to the rooms. They were in a separate building to the pub. Although the shop across the road had an alarm going off, you couldn’t hear anything at all from the rooms! Really nice touches having glasses as well as mugs, tea coffee and biscuits, really impressed for a budget hotel… and it was spacious, clean, comfy with air con that worked. Key card entry to the building and security at the main doors also helped things feel safe for us two ladies!
We also ate food the following evening in the pub which was super quick, really hot and tasty as well as reasonable.
Overall, never been so happy with value for money at a budget hotel within a good distance from amenities and a short drive from the racecourse, really chuffed - thank you! :)

We've used this hotel for 3 years running now to stay over before and after the last leg of our holiday journey to Whitby. Very convenient just of the motorway. Easy check-in which is located in the restaurant. Excellent customer service staff in the restaurant are wonderful and welcoming. Other eating places on the retail park are McDonald's, KFC & Taco Bell. Nice touch with the tea, coffee and biscuits as other chains have stopped doing this. In my opinion both the rooms we stayed in could do with a small paint touch up it did make the bathrooms look tired but only minor. Also just to mention that we requested a travel cot in the notes on both bookings and this was missed both stays. As far as I'm aware there's no option to 'choose' a travel cot on booking? Just something to flag going forward re taking in to consideration what's in the notes as one of the chamber maids wasn't impressed with our 'late' request for a travel cot but it was definitely very clearly within notes of both our bookings. As I say only minor suggestions and we will be sure to stay on our travels next year.

Stayed two nights whilst visiting friends locally. First time in a Marston's establishment and we were very satisfied with our stay.
Easy and quick check in ... or this could be done online in advance. The accommodation felt safe and secure and is keycard operated.
The accommodation was really nice, simple, clean and fresh, comfy bed, opening window for fresh air which is always a plus for us. The lighting choice in the room was good, both overhead and bedside.
The air con was working well in our room on this very hot August weekend, which was a bonus.
The bathroom was clean, the towels fluffy, soft and the shower hot. The handwash and shower gel were good quality.
Rooms are in a separate block to the pub which is great as it made for a lovely, quiet night's sleep. The rooms are on the edge of a retail park but that didn't affect our sleep in the slightest on The Saturday and Sunday we stayed.
We will definitely stay there again when next in the area.

We stayed at this hotel on sat 12th Aug and it is honestly the worst hotel we have ever stayed in!

We arrived late on Saturday night, no issues with checking in. Lady at the desk was helpful.

However, when we entered the room it just went from bad to worse. It was dirty and outdated. There were stains in the toilet, walls were dirty with questionable substances, floor was thick of dust, bath floor dirty also with huge chip and lots of stray hairs.

We did make our concerns known to the evening staff who couldn’t have been more helpful and they did offer to clean to the room for us. However this was approx 10pm at night. We did agree and when we went back to our room there was a male in there attempting to clean the toilet, to which he removed his ungloved hand from the toilet and let the dirty toilet water drip on the floor and then used the same hand over the door handles.

Needless to say, if it had of been any early in the evening we would have left and gone to a completely different hotel. However, with a 7 year old in tow who was falling asleep in the chair waiting this was not an option.

Such a shame as we had read lots of reviews saying how clean this hotel was but this was the complete opposite of what we encountered.

Rooms are pretty basic and reminiscent of a Travelodge but they are clean and functional and the beds are incredibly comfy. Reception is in the pub (and not particularly well sign-posted); we headed towards the beer garden, only to find you should left from the car park but had missed the small directional sign.

The staff in the pub are very nice and you will receive a discount on main meals if you are a hotel guest.

The breakfast was probably the best one I've had in a UK hotel for years. Everything is freshly prepared and cooked to order. None of this sitting around stewing or in rivers of grease. I tend to gauge the kitchen staff's ability on their presentation of eggs and black pudding - both of which were done to perfection. The self-service croissants and bread were also fresh and delicious.

Thank you so much for your review. With the hotel being built after the pub, we have tried our best to sign post where hotel guests need to check in. We have updated this just recently as well and we are working on updating the automated email to also include directions for check in. We are so glad to hear you loved our breakfast, can’t beat a well cooked breakfast. We do hope to welcome you back soon

Whilst waiting for our house purchase in Thorne to complete, we stayed at the Kings Chamber for 9 nights.
At £50 per weekday night, this was excellent value for a family sized room.
All tea, coffee and biscuits were available.
The beds were comfortable, which led to a good nights sleep.
What more could you ask for!

Stayed here recently in one of the family rooms. Exceptionally clean and very well equipped, with complimentary tea coffee and biscuits. Shower was very nice and clean white fluffy towels.
Went across to the pub for our evening meal. Absolutely fab staff could do more for you, Shannon and Kerry thank you. Food was very well presented, piping hot and very tasty.
Would highly recommend a stay here.
Well worth the price.

Had a great night, good food, decent room, clean and well presented. The staff were very friendly, especially Rhianna who went out of her way to help sort our room out on arrival after finding it had been set up as one bed and not two. Will definitely return!
