Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Called into the "Swan" on the recommendation of a friend and I was not dissapointed.
I chose a fillet, and it was absolutely scrumptious!,and the best I've had since my last trip to Manhatten,New York, just perfect.
I predict a very busy restaurant here at the White Swan, and they deserve it.
The chef Mathew was most obliging ,and the Black Sheep beer is Top Class, trust me!

Drakeholes was originally called Dragon Holes, quietly situated just off the A631, 4 miles east of Bawtry, a few miles from Doncaster airport, The White Swan is a handsome building in a commanding position overlooking the Chesterfield Canal and the rolling countryside. The building clearly differs from the typical 18th century inn as it was originally designed as a folly. After the land closure of 1763, Jonathan Acklom, squire of Wiseton, rebuilt the hall and improved the estate his family had held since the reign of Charles II.
The hotel has 7 rooms, mine was well furnished with a comfortable bed, two windows overlooking the garden and a spacious bathroom with bath. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Public rooms were typical of an inn of that age. The sunny beer garden at the front overlooking the canal was popular in the evening. Food was freshly prepared, of good quality and reasonable cost. I would certainly go back and would recommend the White Swan to anybody looking for a short break in a picturesque location or quiet business accommodation to the south of Doncaster.

It seems the gamekeeper called in this morning with some game and rabbits !
By the time I arrived for dinner,Voila! Rabbit pie.

In an individual pot with a lovely light crisp pastry lid ,was a generous piping hot portion of tender meat.
.And together with a delightful selection of local veg,and a choice of Theakstons "Black Sheep"or Timothy Taylors "Landlord" what more could you ask for?.
I returned here to to make sure that last time I just got lucky, but no this venue is top class.
With London quality but with normal prices!, this is truly a great find.
Mine host is Stella, and together with the two top chefs Matthew and Gary ,you are guaranteed
satisfaction.
Pass me a spoon for this gravy please .

We have just returned from a one night stay at the white swan catching up with a few friends we'd not seen in a while. We received a lovely welcome when we arrived and after being shown our room proceeded to sit out in the sun in the lovely beer garden which has great views of the countryside and canal.
Our room was larger than the average b&b, the bathroom was lovely and clean and had a raised bath plus separate shower (again more than the average b&b), Stella told us she still had lots to do as she'd only been there for 6 months but we thought the place was still very tidy and well presented.
We had dinner later in the restaurant, the food was all lovely, a wide range on the menu and all meals were of great quality and accompanied by some excellent wine!
We also spent time relaxing in the lounge on comfy sofas which was lovely, it's great to see a real pub rather than the run of the mill chain pubs found in most villages now.
Breakfast also great, service good and all staff were very friendly, we'd definitely recommend this pub to anyone, a great find, good luck for the future Stella, hopefully we'll be back soon!

(We have only eaten here, not stayed.)
This Pub/restaurant/hotel has recently had a change of management and we were very pleased with the changes that have been made. The landlady is very welcoming and the food is excellent. The steaks are really good and the value for money is brilliant given the portion sizes. The veg is fresh and well cooked and the chips are home made.
There is a roaring open fire in the main room on cold days and a quaint and restful separate sitting room to relax in.
Walkers and boaters from the Chesterfield canal are welcomed too.
The setting is idyllic with great views from the pub garden out front with lovely walks along the canal just over the road.
Give it a try!

Had an excellent fillet steak just after Christmas. Best steak we have had in the UK! We live locally so would not stay but the staff were very welcoming and the place is a very charming old country inn property with lovely views of the surrounding countryside but is still easily accessible from the A1.

We enjoyed our stay at The White Swan after making a last minute booking. On arrival we were told we had been upgraded and were shown into a huge room with four poster bed and lovely big bathroom with views from the imposing front of the hotel out onto the pond and farmland. B and B of this standard for £50 is great. Highly recommended.

I was sent to Scunthorpe to do a stocktake and asked to be booked into a hotel overnight. They put me in a hotel approximately 6miles from where I was working. I used my sat nav to get to the hotel and whilst driving there was directed through some beautiful villages and countryside. I made a right hand turn and crossed a stream with swans and ducks swimming about, did another turn and entered the hotel car park. What a fantastic place. The rooms were beautiful, very fresh and clean. The staff were very jolly and courteous and the food was excellent. I would recommend this hotel to anybody.
