Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited on the off chance for lunch. Waitress was friendly and attentive. There was a lot of choice on the menu, probably a bit too much of a mixture, but no one could say that they couldn’t find something for them to try. We opted for lasagne and pie. They were both homemade and delicious. Proper chips and good portion sizes. We were very happy with our food but had no room for desert! Would visit again when it’s not such a flying visit as would like to try more dishes!

We attended here for early Mother’s Day and upon arrival greater by what I can only assume is the owner. We sat near the bar area and the waitress took our drinks ordered quickly. The menu is massive with loads of options. To summarise, proper food, proper chips, plenty of food as well. I’ve uploaded an image of what I had, chicken, ham and leek pie! We will definitely return!

Lovely food great attentive staff. Saxophonist , chocolates, roses...what more xan you ask for! Hosting was lively and the food was ordered but checked again so we had the option to change, really nice atmosphere, wasnt contrived and plastic, like some valentines events X

Went today for a carvery, found some good reviews on Facebook locally and decided to give it a go. Walk ins only so probably best to get there earlier. We arrived about 1 and got seated straight away but as we left just over an hour later there were people having to wait for tables Gentleman at the front of house (owner I think) was really welcoming, ordered at the bar, then carvery time. Great choice between Turkey, pork, gammon, beef and lamb. Loads of other options on the main menu board too! Slight minus from me is no parsnips but the food on offer is really top quality! £14 a plate is cracking value. Will be returning!

No booking on a Sunday so turned up at about 12 never visited before so did no what to expect Was shown to a table you pick meals from a board or carvery we all went for the carvery we pre paid at the bar and made are way to get our carvery The person who served us must be the owner and chef my god he definitely knows how to run a pub and carvery the food I’m not exaggerating is probably the best I tasted in a long time and would say all home cooked the effort that’s gone into the meal is a credit to him The staff are very helpful and polite nothing to much trouble The chef even had time and I don’t no how to pop round the tables and have a chat with you what a fantastic place from food to the staff I could not even try to fault this place in anyway what so ever

Have been driving passed since it reopened, called to try a pint and have a nosey The decor and furniture is all geared towards eating so no comfy pub seats just dining tables, now to my beer it was below par it was a pint of London pride and it was horrible,it was just under a fiver too,so to sum up it's expensive rubbish for drinkers

New Owner comes a wonderful dining experience- wow Going to this venue now is a joy not only for the superb service and fabulous hospitality the food is amazing. A visit at Christmas time is magical so much time and effort goes into transforming the Mayflower into Santa’s Grotto it’s a fantasy to behold the children would be mesmerized all credit to Chris, Jade and their excellent team of elf’s Highly recommend at any time of year……

Had a superb evening at The Mayflower last evening. Chris, Jade and all the staff and super and very welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious, sticky chicken is not to be missed and the Tyson burger is definitely unforgettable and my husband's favourite. The whole place has a great atmosphere too, perfect for a date night, friends get together or family night out. I would say book a table and go, you will have a brilliant time x
