Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Thought we’d nip over to Doncaster, because, why not? We live in Lincolnshire, so a day out is never a bad thing. The Red lion beckoned us like a Wetherspoons beckons a hungry traveler. We were peckish, certainly. It was 8:am after all. But travelers? We’d been on the road for all of 40 minutes, so possibly. The Lion is a hotel and so the bar is ready and waiting at 8. It’s been open for an hour at that time in the morning. The kitchen was buzzing, food was cooking, plates were already hot as furnaces. A very good job really, because including myself and my wife, there were two people in there. Two. Two traditional breakfasts were ordered quickly, and coffees were poured while we waited for the banquet to arrive. Duly, it did just that. And it was very acceptable indeed. It was prepared nicely, all of it. The eggs were just on the right side of cooked, runny yolks and cooked whites. Perfect. Eggs are always a bone of contention in a Wetherspoons. There is no set formula for cooking eggs, seemingly. No rhyme nor reason behind what appears on your plate. From the fried eggs that are so burnt they have razor sharp black edges and yolk like a child’s rubber ball, right through to the snotty poached eggs that look like they’ve just been removed from a used handkerchief. But that offering was right on the money. And the bacon, hash browns and sausage were similarly delicious. Nice food, cooked just as it should be.

Really good stay and got a good night sleep it was very quiet on the second floor. Room was big with a nice comfy mattress. Tea and coffee plus biscuits and water for guests . Room was clean and bathroom was spotless. Fantastic location right in the centre of Doncaster. Pub is good too does the usual spoons fare with cheap beer

Last minute booking has we was travelling to Yorkshire Didn’t expect much being a Wetherspoons but was shocked. Room was Very clean Fantastic shower For a budget hotel I can only mark it down for bedding. Quilt did not fit quilt cover correctly and could do with better pillows but overall very good.

I have stayed here several times now and I never been disappointed. Room was spacious and clean and the bed comfortable. I did have a problem with the card key when going back to my room. The batteries had packed in, on the door pad. The two engineers did a great job on sorting the issue out. Tea and coffee were decent ones. Free bottles of water too.

Meet here quite often. Around 10 of us. Some eat some don't. Although I know there's a product issue from time to time, maybe a bad batch of steak in this case. Sent back by a friend the same old food came out with a fresh steak. It wasn't great. That wasn't the main issue, the " manager" named kasia I believe, was very rude and dismissive. When told her attitude was wrong told a member of the party to shut up. Very unnecessary it's nice to be nice!

On arrival I was early to check in with my 10 year old daughter amd didn't realise the time, as I was talking to a member of staff the manager walked past and abruptly told me its 2 o'clock check in. I understand I was 30 mins early but being polite costs nothing, even one of the bar staff pulled a face at how rude he was. The room was OK the bedding had black marks all over the fitted sheet and the window wouldn't shut

First time staying in a Wetherspoon’s hotel- excellent experience & not just from the 1 minute walk from room to bar!! Room very adequate-clean & pleasantly compact. Bathroom with an excellent large separate shower looked newly installed. What made this stay stand out was the friendly staff who couldn’t have offered better service & help -they even let us leave our case & bags in our room as we went off to a wedding & let us back in to collect them 90 minutes after official checkout time. First visit & certainly won’t be our last -highly recommend

Had a great stay. 4 was for the exceptional noise outside our window, but not the hotels fault its a very busy pub and an even busier area at the weekend . Ate twice - one lun h, one breakfast - both excellent and friendly staff too. Will return. Recommended

I have stayed at this Wetherspoons 3-4 times now and I have never been let down. It took a little while to get our room at the reception as the bar was very busy at the time we had arrived on Saturday afternoon 2pmish. Good sized room comfortable beds and a good shower is what you need after a night out at a Soul weekender that we had attended. Good choice of teas and coffees in the room and free bottles of water. Yes we will come and stay here again. You cannot fault this Hotel.
