Just got back after week in the Noel arms second time of staying here location for our needs ideal. parking a slight issue as you need to park early if you don't want to park offsite reception staff friendly and check in swift rooms are a bit dated creaky floors etc but it's an old building showers superb and room cleaned and restocked every day. The bar is small but welcoming an ok range of beer and spirits bar staff as all staff friendly. Was surprised bar closed to residents after 11 although probably a godsend. Breakfast staff SUPERB warm welcoming and accommodating breakfast slightly small although you could ask for more dinner time is the selling point food is outstanding applause to the chefs but applause to ALL staff wonderfull no complaints and already booked for next year's festival to the management your staff are a credit

We were a family group meeting at the hotel for a two night stay. The communal areas were attractive with good attention to detail regarding COVID restrictions and maintaining guest /staff safety. Check-in was easy. We had a light lunch when we first arrived and all the food was very good. Our one evening meal at the hotel was good and service pleasant. Our breakfasts were very tasty and nicely presented.
It must be very stressful for staff to be so busy and yet have to adhere to so many new ways of working. There is outdoor terrace seating.
The downside - our room! Room number 1 at the front of the hotel, overlooking the high street. Although we had asked for two single beds (my sister and I were sharing the room) the first room allocated was a double. They agreed to move us to room 1 which they said was an upgrade. Heaven knows what the original room would have been like. Room 1 was a mix of old, well past its prime furniture which gave the room a gloomy feel. The windows only had curtains so there was no way to be slightly private, it was either open or closed. The windows were ill-fitting so traffic and other noise was more evident. In the bathroom, the overhead rain forest shower was a nice touch but the sink and toilet (and surrounding woodwork) were also in need of an update.
It is the kind of room you might expect in a slightly tired B & B rather than a 3 star hotel in the Cotswolds. A disappointment compared to the rest of the hotel.

Some may feel that the hotel is a little odd, it is certainly different. Reception desk offered us a great welcome and gave some advice on what we could expect during our stay. The hotels location is just perfect, the rooms varied and well scattered, throughout this ancient building, our four poster lacked for little, it was ideal with the exception of the bed and pillows. The bed was truly amazing, we never did establish when it was made but for certain it was not the sort that appears on the modern tv adverts. The posts, the sides and indeed the top which doubled as the ceiling were all beautifully hand carved. There was a need to make use of the convenient little footstool to assist in climbing aboard. Sleep was not to our liking the pillows were cement bags clad in pillow cases and indeed the bed itself was certainly on the firm side of comfortable. The room was warm, spacious and well equipped. The bathroom was also to our liking. We had reserved a table for dinner, a must in the busier months we were told although during our visit there was room for all. In truth the menu was not as inspiring as we had hoped or as shown on the sample we had viewed on the web site. It could best be described as average and the food was of the same standard. the same could not be said of the staff, they were both charming and efficient. It must be said that breakfast was excellent and there was little omitted from the the morning menu. The hotel has a pleasant bar and has no shortage of locations in which to sit in total comfort and enjoy the pre bedtime drinks.

As others have previously stated, all shabby and no chic. Even the booking Manager described the establishment as "Tired".

They wanted £199 for 1 night dinner bed and breakfast in room 28, facing the terrace where the outdoor drinking and eating takes place. This meant that room 28 occupants need to keep the curtains closed permanently as the public can see right into the bedroom. The windows are grubby and paint is peeling off throughout the establishment. There was a strange coloured stain on the window of room 28.

We did arrive early and were told we couldn't have the room yet as it wasn't ready. We sat on the terrace for more than an hour and no one was in the room cleaning. I asked again at 1.00 pm and was told the same story, no one went into the room. I asked again at 2.00 pm, there was still no movement in the room. (Don't forget you can see straight into the room and the bed is in view.) When we were finally told at 3.00 pm we would be given room 28, we objected and declined.
We were offered a second "Superior" room on the first floor, which consisted of a bed, a chair and two second hand brown bedside tables. Hardly "Superior " I would have paid £60 a night for it.

The bar staff and waiting staff were great. The receptionist was stuffy and unfriendly. This establishment is in dire need of a makeover in all departments.

We visited the hotel approximately 20 years ago and we’d always hoped to go back .My partner booked a surprise night away as we’d had to cancel a trip to Glasgow to see our daughter due to COVID restrictions in Scotland .
We had room 1657 which has a beautiful carved 4 poster bed it’s quite high but there’s a little step either side if you need it .
It’s a good sized room which faces onto the Main Street , the bathroom is up a few steps (very quirky )lovely deep bath and spotlessly clean . Yes the hotel needs a lick of paint in places but don’t be put off .
The staff are all friendly and professional in both hotel and restaurant .
The food was superb we both opted for curries as we seen such good reviews and they were perfect.
Breakfast was really tasty you have to pre order but I didn’t find this an issue .
The hotel had a car park on site which is a bonus .
Well done to all the staff it can’t be easy at the present time .
I look for to a 3rd visit in the future .

This place was great, really great food and customer service (really friendly a* staff). The only reason I did not give a 5/5 was In The rooms there are roller blinds but the glass is not frosted in bathroom and our room looked over to conservatory so you had to have them down and that makes it dark - that is my only negative though. Loved the quirky lay out and dogs are allowed, lots of areas to chill in and if available access to the spa is great value.

This review relates to the bar rather than the hotel.

We visited the Noel Arms a couple of times over a New Years stay, and were never less than impressed.

Located on the main high street in the town, everything about this great local pub was welcoming and hospitable.

Service was unfailingly friendly, right down to providing some unexpected treats for our dog, and (aside from not having an IPA on draft!) our experience experience was in truth pretty hard to fault.

The meals we had were very tasty and generously-portioned (and reasonably-priced).

Well worth a visit.

Stayed for a night at the Noel Arms and have returned home with mixed feelings. On the plus side the welcome was good and we were shown to our rooms before they were supposed to be ready. When one room was a double instead of a twin the response was immediate and housekeeping separating the beds quickly and efficiently.
However the rooms themselves were basic with a broken set of drawers and staining on the bathroom floor.
We ate a delicious meal in the hotel although portion sizes could have been bigger. Breakfast, although very tasty, took a very long time to be served. Not only were there not enough waiting staff they also seemed to get our order wrong meaning that all the breakfasts were very late and all juices etc had been cleared away before we had received any food.
The position of the hotel was ideal in the middle of the high street but if I were to go back to the area I would probably look at other options.

Response from Reception Manager, Guest Services / Front Office at Noel Arms Hotel
Responded 23 Feb 2022
Dear Lkbbkl, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent visit here and on Google. Service charge is added to the bill, as is the industry standard, but we always ask if you wish for this to be removed from the bill, as we did on your departure. I have passed your comments onto the kitchen and front of house teams for improvement. I am sorry to hear that you did not join us for dinner, but hope that you enjoyed your visit to Chipping Campden.

Little bit tired but only the bedrooms, the public areas are good. Very nice staff. Be sure to book your parking space. You can either eat in the dining room or the adjoining conservatory. The breakfasts are very good. As the chef is Asian there is an Indian special ( yum ). Full English is excellent as is smoked salmon and the kippers. There is a good a la carte evening menu which also features some Asian dishes as well as European food. Location is bang in the centre and the start of The Cotswold Way is a 5 minute walk. The hotel has a good selection of local walking maps.

Not in the rooms, it's a very old listed building and they can't make many modifications. However, the thick exterior walls kept our room warm even on a cool day..
