I cant begin to describe to you how good it was celebrating my 30th Birthday at the Velvet. I met with Kim the owner a few months ago after many recommendations, and we instantly clicked & I fell in love with the hotel and all its amenities. I celebrated my 30th in the Brasserie as a private function and it was the best night from start to finish. The food, the staff, the service, the atmosphere was just fabulous the whole night! A special thank you to Kim, Steve, Tess, James & Natasha who looked after me & all my guest throughout the day & Night. I think the fact I got to know all the staff mentioned above say's a lot in itself. The hotel is a dream. Classy, stylish, clean and unbelievably gorgeous - I recommend a Duplex apartment as you wont be disappointed! The Food was ridiculously good - ALL my guests commented on how nice it was & Tasty! I cannot fault one thing, and if your thinking of doing a celebration here you will NOT be disappointed. Thank you all for making my 30th Birthday one I will never forget! My favourite spot in Manchester and now my go to, I will be back very soon! Lots of Love Hannah & Matt x

Me and my Wife stayed there for 1 night on 15th September 2021 for our Wedding Anniversary and we had a fantastic stay at the Velvet. The staff where so welcoming and helpful to us and prepared the room with flowers and Rose Petals spelling the word Love on the Bed & gifts etc it was so lovely and made us feel so special. I want to say a special thanks to Tess on Reception who was fantastic. We will definitely stay there again and will recommend to friends also. It was also a great location 😊🙏🏽

We were served cocktails that the bar staff were not trained to make. To be clear, this is not their fault, this is management’s fault for not staffing the bar properly. Basically ended up with a champagne flute of lemon juice with a blueberry in it and second drink a glass of ice chips (they didn’t even know that was just to cool the glass and to top the ice out) a measure of scotch (it was a bourbon cocktail) with far too much Angostura bitters on top. Completely undrinkable, and costing around £9.50 each. Please make sure that you train your staff how to make cocktails before putting them on shift, it’s really not fair on them or the customer. This is not the employee’s fault, but poor management. It was a Friday night and you had no one on who could make cocktails?

I stayed with my Partner at this hotel in late August 2021. It’s on Canal Street in the Gay Village, we stayed ostensibly because the kitchen fitters were installing a new kitchen in our flat nearby. Main room could not be faulted, lovely bed and despite the location excellent table glazing sound proofed windows and air conditioning. Bathroom had the look of ‘they must have run out of money’, basic New England style panelling and a step over bath in order to use the shower. So far, so OK. Next morning, I went off to meet the kitchen fitters, my Partner slept a little later, he returned to the flat and much later i asked where my iPad was as I assumed he had packed it as I left without it and in a hurry. Long story short, called the hotel, no idea what i was talking about, no iPad found, blah blah blah. Switched on ‘find my iPad’ technology, IPad was still in the hotel, checked again next morning and iPad was in Crumpsall (Manchester). E mailed the hotel to inform and received a reply many days later from a Mr Burns that he took the matter very seriously - never heard from Mr Burns again. Then received a phone call from the hotel owner 10 days after the iPad was ‘lost’ , the iPad had been ‘found’ apparently it got into the laundry, seemingly it leapt from the side of the bed on the floor where i had left it onto the bedding. I have the iPad back now so I’m not £1300 lighter thankfully. The velvet hotel is currently priced at £189 for one night for the same superior room I booked, the Malmaison around the corner which I stayed in last week is priced at £179, to be fair both are overpriced, however my ipad was safe and sound at the Malmaison so make your own judgement.

Great place to stay, eat and have a drink. Service in the restaurant on two night be Jan R was great. Very friendly guy with great attitude and attention to customer. Food is great, especially their burgers - among the best I've tasted. We'll be back!
