First off I should say that my Micro room was very cheap (I think about £35 a night, bought in a sale) and I knew in advance it only had a shared bathroom. But even with that I still felt it wasn't a great experience.

The room itself was fine and the bed comfortable. I was surprised that there wasn't even a sink in the room however. The only window was frosted and when I opened it I found a fairly horrible view complete with a ton of rubbish outside including rotting food items.

Soundproofing isn't great and I could hear the 'ping' of phone notifications from an adjacent room.

The only bathroom on my floor was usually dirty whenever I visited, with muddy footprints on the floor (maybe from the builders who started traipsing noisily up and down the corridor from about 8am).

The only other shower I could find was on the floor below and was out of order. The only other male loo, also on the floor below, had no lock on the door.

The fire exit door in the corridor was usually propped open and revealed a fairly filthy looking room where the laundry seemed to be stored (I am hoping dirty rather than clean laundry...)

Luggage storage was done with no tags, so not particularly secure.

I think the micro room is significantly more expensive when not bought in a sale - if I'd bought without the discount I'd be a very unhappy customer indeed.

I was well prepared- earplugs and warm clothes needed! Selina looks pretty well decorated and the standard room was very spacious but it's a bit superficial. The bathroom wasn't that nice and floor seemed a little unclean. Luckily there are pharmacies near so I could get decent earplugs (a must), the building reverberates with traffic and noise from busy street outside. That eases a bit at night but starts again early. The room was absolutely freezing with only a tiny electric heater. Staff didn't seem particularly interested, at check in. They didn't mention any facilities on arrival, I had to pop back to front desk to ask, then was told about bar, the discount and kitchen. Not exactly the vibe I expected the place to have. The room was the same price as budget hotels with better facilities- maybe not as nice bar. I've stayed in a lot of hostels and I'd pass on this one to stay again.

Other reviews mention the nose because of the nearby bar. We found this fine…it closes at 2 shuts the outdoor space and then people slowly fade out of the inside from then onwards/ earplugs drown them out.

What kept us awake was the fact that the hostel lets people go into the outside smoking area at whatever time. We were awake listening to two people flirt (badly I was cringing for them that everyone in the hostel could probably hear) and smoke between 3-7am so got no sleep. Considering every room in the hostel backs onto the courtyard smoking area I would of thought they’d also close that after hours too.

Apart from that the staff were really lovely and room was good.

If I could give this place 0 stars i would. I wouldn’t recommend at all. Our room was like a sauna, we have a fan in our room which we had on our whole stay, we also had our window open constantly but nothing made our room cooler. Electric sockets our dodgy and not fitted properly. When showering the water will go from warm to cold so you cannot enjoy your shower. No storage to put clothes. There is a green emergency light in every room, which when you’re trying to go to sleep is really irritating and bright. When asked for an extra fan downstairs the lady at reception said she would get us another one however she never did and never told us.

We asked again at around 8pm, the lady at reception advised us that she would have a look and if not she’d give us a refund for one nights stay…however an hour passed and we went downstairs to check what was happening and she had left, meaning we had another boiling night. The next morning we complained to the manager who told us we’d get a free meal next door…however when we came down to get our free meal as told, we were told that the kitchen had closed…so their solution to the first problem was then followed by another problem.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody! waste of money and terrible staff who didn’t help at all!

Save your money and go elsewhere. The only positive thing I have to say about this place is the location is perfect…however it is next to multiple bars so it’s loud in the evenings when trying to sleep.

0 STARS!! worst experience, terrible management.

Upon arriving at the spooky hotel, the entire facade was under construction and it was impossible to find the access door to the hotel. Once inside, the hotel was dark and they were not expecting my arrival. Without having anything prepared, they gave me a room that had to be changed because it was not in good circumstances.
In the second room, at 3 AM a constant alarm began to sound throughout the night and into the morning.
At reception they moved me back to a more isolated room without noise but without the option of opening the window because it overlooked a dirty interior patio full of garbage.
This last room had no noise and no bathroom as I had hired and unbearably hot.

I had to leave the hotel at 6 AM without being able to sleep at all for the whole night and without getting my money back.

In short, a horrible experience with the hotel.

Although it’s in a great location, we paid nearly £300 for a room with nothing but 2 bunk beds which only just fit in the room. There are zero amenities in the room other than a fan. The beds were comfy enough and had plugs and safes inside them but for the price it was poor. The location also means its very noisy until the early hours. The shared toilet and shower were disgusting, it looked like someone had vomited in the shower, they stank, clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly for a long time and there was no toilet roll or hand soap when we arrived. We couldn’t bring ourselves to use the shower. The staff look like they would rather be doing anything else. With such a great location it has potential to be a great place but was such a disappointment and horrendously overpriced.

I went to Warehouse Project with a group of eight mates, we needed a place to accommodate such a big group for just one night and stumbled upon this place. Upon arriving we entered the most chilled, cosy bar/reception area and were greeted with smiles all round. We were given funky and practical wristband keys for our spacious, comfy and beautiful rooms! The communal kitchen was well equipped and clean, and the hostel itself was quiet and felt very secure. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, the price was super reasonable, the staff friendly and it all made for an incredible night! Thank you!

We were sold a dream and arrived to a nightmare. The pictures on the website are nothing like reality . My son hurt his foot in the 1 hour we were there with the trip hazard step leading into the bathroom .
The rooms were boiling and to fix this there were industrial fans which on low speed were like a tractor in motion.
The room had a damp patch on the ceiling and the bathroom had no soap or shower gel. Also there was less than 1 foot between the bed and the wall ..The fire alarm went off twice which we were told was caused by the pizza oven in the restaurant .I highly doubt it.

I asked about the noise levels and how bad it would get and I was told “it’s Saturday and it will be very noisy “ It was 1pm and it felt like 3am with the comings and goings .
The window was a wind in / out which a CrossFit athlete would struggle to get opened or closed.

My wife who is deaf and could feel the noise vibrations , we finally had enough and walked out very upset and disgusted . I did speak to a lady at the front desk - which I assume is the reception area / make shift cafe who was in my opinion very blasé about the situation .
We were there on a family break this is not the place to go with kids ..The pictures led us to believe we were getting tranquility where that could not be further from the truth .

This hotel is a triumph of style over substance. While the downstairs looks achingly cool, with its bar and restaurant and hipsters exchanging pleasantries on the pavement outside, any illusion that the painfully chic exterior is matched by an equally zealous attention to levels of service lasts for as long as it takes to start a conversation with one of the staff.

On arrival, I duly checked in, a process made all the more laborious by the need of the man on the desk to copy down my driver's licence number, one agonising key stroke at a time. He had already greeted me with a fist bump, despite the fact I'm old enough to be his grandad and was visibly not in the mood to pretend I was in South Central. I don't want to go to your wedding, chuckles, I want to check in.

Things got no better. Despite it being hotter than the sun outside, I was told that they didn't have any bottles of water to give me, to buy, to loan or anything else. I was told there was a tap water dispenser downstairs, but nothing in the room. The man handed over the key, told me my room number and, gentle reader, I was on my own. Where was the room once I'd reached the landing? No idea. Nobody told me. I had to walk around until I found it.

Inside the room, it got worse. The place was hotter than a sauna and the one concession to this was a giant metal fan that made a noise like a wounded Chinook when it was turned on and did nothing to cool the room. I finally went to sleep about half two, when the people outside had finally shut up, and woke a few hours later drenched in sweat.

The website and signage in the hotel is at pains to refer to 'travellers' and point out the cool, crazy activities you can join in with other cool, crazy people, as though travellers don't have any critical faculties and don't mind losing half their body weight in sweat because they're achingly cool. That might be the case in Thailand, maybe, but not in central Manchester.

When I finally woke the following morning, I had an erratic and largely cold shower and then booked another hotel for that night. This place is detestably bad and the staff don't seem to care. And that's fine, but don't go into the hospitality industry. Do something else that lets you sit around all day, not wanting to help people, like working for East Midlands Trains or being a consultant at Capita.

Spend a few more quid on a decent hotel, and let this one go the way of all flesh.

I received a call from trip.com to say that this hostel had cancelled our booking because “they were fully booked”…2 days before we were intending to stay!!! I’d gone through the rigmarole of waiting for a confirmation on my booking - which was then accepted and confirmed - three weeks prior. They then took my money…I am very confused why they would do this if they were “fully booked” are you that incompetent? Look at a diary, look at the rooms available, do the maths IN ADVANCE. Now me and my partner have nowhere to stay for his birthday and all other accommodation has sky high prices with such short notice. Having to cancel the whole trip, thanks to this hostel’s lack of organisation.
