We stayed here the night before a flight to New York. The hotel itself is fine, it's brand new and super clean. However, staff were questionable (some brilliant, others rude), amenities were hit & miss but the worst part was the bed.

For a basic budget hotel you get exactly what you pay for - a small room, standard linens etc. But what we didn't expect was only 1 pillow each (and for that pillow to be extremely thin) and for a bed that was not only rock hard but wonky. It felt like I was fighting to stay in the bed all night and I had to use a towel and my coat under my pillow to get some support - not great when you're 22 weeks pregnant! Worst night sleep I've ever had.

They do supply toiletries, but they're 3 in 1 shampoo, shower gel and hand soap so if you're not ok with those then bring your own.

Bright side is, it's cheap and a 5 minute walk from terminal 2.

Dear Emma F Thankyou for your review. It is extremely sad to see a review not filled with positives, we always have great feedback about the team, we will certainly look into this. We are a budget hotel and we understand what we can do well and what we could do better and some requests we just cannot offer due to our limitations within brand. The issues with your stay at the hotel did you speak to a team member? Feel free to email me directly on hb2v5-am@accor.com so we can look at correcting what should be an amazing stay. We do hope that you will reconsider staying with us in the future. Thankyou Anthony Senior Guest Service Manager

Getting to the hotel from the train station was awful. No signage and extremely dangerous. It’s newly opened but they ought to prioritise this. Once safely there the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Check in was quick and efficient. We asked about places to eat and were told the terminal had a range of eateries. Oddly he didn’t mention we could get food at the Ibis itself! So we went to terminal 2 for dinner which is about 200 yards away. Extremely convenient for check in the next day. The room was a decent size and had all we needed for a one very short night’s stay. The bed was firm but comfy. The pillows were insufficient in number and fullness. The shower room was large and functional with plenty of hair / body / face wash and the shower was strong and hot. Although overpriced, the ibis was the most reasonable priced of the airport hotels and if flying from Manchester I’d definitely book again.

Dear Matchbox, Many thanks for your review regarding your recent stay at the Ibis Budget Hotel Manchester Airport, We appreciate your lovely words about efficient and extremely helpful staff. Thank you. We are pleased to share information that the Manchester Airport has added signage along the way to the hotel at terminal 1 and 2 now and we believe this will help to find our property easier. We offer extra pillows upon request. And yes, we offer hot delicious dinner on the daily basis. I’m sorry this wasn’t shared with at the desk. Basic but clean hotel steps away from Manchester Airport. Room was comfortable if bit cramped but did the job of putting us up close to the airport so we did not have to deal with taxis or shuttles. We stepped over to the adjacent Holiday Inn and ordered a meal there which was tasty. My only real complaint is with the check-in. You are allowed only 10 minutes to check in, drop your bags in your room and move your car if returning it to the rental company. There is literally no way to do that but you are told that if you are in excess of the time allowed you risk a $100 GBP penalty. They offer you the choice of risking that or paying a 5GBP fee which gives you an hour's work of parking. I understand that with limited parking they do not want it tied up while people take their time about moving their luggage inside and that the parking is controlled by an outside company, but it seems engineered to get an additional $5GBP out of everyone.

Fabulous hotel if you have an early flight the next day from T2. Bedroom has tea and coffee making facilities a TV and air con and the bathroom has shower gel and hand wash. There's a restaurant downstairs or if you prefer to eat at the Holiday Inn next door, the Ibis bar staff will give you a 15% off voucher, as it's their sister hotel. Great value hotel stay and right opposite T2.

This is little gem of a hotel if you are flying from Manchester. The hotel is about 5 mins walk from the train station and terminal 2 departures. We were checked in promptly and politely and advised that as well as the onsite canteen there was the option of a discount voucher for the restaurant at the hotel opposite.

Yes the room is small, think of a box room in an average house, but it is very cleverly designed with lots of nooks and crannies for storage, and a good sized bed. The colour scheme is also been carefully considered and is quite calming. My husband (who is 6ft 2) was pleasantly surprised as he thought it might feel cramped. The room was clean comfortable, with a good shower, and we slept soundly

We ate onsite and as a previous review has said the options are limited, but enough to get you through.

Check out was efficient and polite

Would definitely use again if I flew from Manchester

As most of the reviews have pointed out the rooms are small but perfect for one night stay, Difficult to manoeuvre around the room with two suitcases & hand luggage but we synchronised our movement around the room. Location is excellent close to T2. Easy walk over - 5 minutes for us. Complimentary breakfast was good. Well soundproofed - we didn’t hear any outside Road or aircraft noise. Blinds on windows were great blackout blinds too.

Note about location - it is situated BEHIND the Holiday Inn, literally across the road from Terminal 2, so it only takes a couple of minutes to walk to the airport itself. When we arrived there was quite a queue of people waiting to check in, but extra staff appeared quickly, and were very helpful.

Evening food options at the hotel are quite limited, but the receptionist gave us a voucher which guaranteed us a table at the Holiday Inn directly opposite, which has English and Turkish menus available. If you go over to Terminal 2, the Arrivals area has a Starbucks and M&S Food which are open 24/7 I believe.

Breakfast was adequate, a cold buffet with a reasonable selection of cereals, fresh & tinned fruit, meats, cheeses, bakery items, juice, tea and coffee. To be blunt, the coffee was like sludge, I'd recommend waiting till you get inside the airport for that! I appreciated that breakfast was served early, so we could eat before going over to the terminal.

You get what you pay for, and we booked this as a hotel/parking package for a very reasonable price. For a one night stay before an early flight, it was fine. The room was very small, one side of the bed was against the wall, and there was only one chair, with minimal room for cases. The bathroom could have used a hook on the back of the door and some towel rails, but the water was always hot (which isn't the case in every hotel).

Thank you for your detailed review of your recent stay with us. We’re glad to hear that our hotel met your needs for a convenient one-night stay before your early flight. It's great to know that our proximity to Terminal 2 and the helpfulness of our staff contributed to a positive experience. We understand the importance of having dining options, especially after a long day of travel, and we're pleased that the voucher for the Holiday Inn restaurant was useful. Additionally, the early breakfast service is designed to accommodate our guests with early flights, and we appreciate your feedback on the coffee and room facilities. We will certainly take this into consideration for future improvements. Thank you for noting the areas where we can enhance our services, such as adding hooks and towel rails in the bathroom. Your feedback is valuable as it helps us understand how we can make our guests' stays more comfortable. We hope to welcome you back the next time you need a convenient and budget-friendly option near the airport.

I just HAD to write a review on my stay here. Well... this was my 3rd hotel in 4 nights of travelling. It was also the cheapest one, and the only one I was kind of dreading! Oh how wrong could I have been! From the moment I entered, the receptionist was so friendly and helpful. Welcoming, kind and professional. I asked if there was any fridge I could use to store some food items I was travelling with and they kindly put these in the staff area for me overnight. Could not do enough to help. The hotel feels more like a modern new hostel than a hotel. The vibe in the communal area felt very much like a classy hostel. It was warm, friendly and welcoming. Free unlimited tea and coffee down there was great. Breakfast was only continental, which I hadn't realised. Lovely pastries, but a shame no hot food was served. Rooms are very small, as I had expected, but functional, Plenty of charging sockets, good hot shower with amenities. As I arrived into the station at terminal 1, and was flying from terminal 1 the next day it is quite a walk with heavy bags. There is no shuttle bus or alternative way to get to terminal 1 from here, only the skylink. This would have been fine, but the moving escalators on the skylink were switched off. When I asked the hotel staff about this, they said they have not been working for months. I don't know why this is, but it would have made moving to/from the hotel a lot easier so it was a shame. Overall a very good and unexpected stay. For the price, I would stay again. Thanks to all the staff for such a pleasant welcome.

We stayed here the day before our holiday. We travelled 4 hours to the hotel when we arrived we had drinks in the bar and went to the room. The room was dirty with stains on the sheets and poo stains in the toilet. We we complained we was given a card and asked to email nothing further. When we emailed they just said they would speak to the housekeeping team and make sure it doesn’t happen again. No gesture of a refund or even half the money back. Not even a sorry. When we stayed AGAIN on the return to Manchester we was advised to speak to the hotel manger in the morning. When we spoke to him he was just rude and didn’t take the complaint seriously. Next time I’d rather spend £20 more and get a decent hotel with decent service.

Stayed in loads of budget airport hotels over the years and never felt compelled to review any of them. But this place!!!

All we were looking for was a decent night's sleep, nothing special.

This is a brand new hotel. On the plus side the staff were helpful and the hotel is walking distance to terminal two.

The big negative was the room. Size wise - imagine a standard double bed and then draw a square a few feet either side. That's the size of the room. They push the bed against the wall to make the space for you to walk in - so one of you has to climb over the other to get in and out of bed. There is nothing to hang your clothes on at all. You have to leave your luggage against the door (which must break the fire regs) as there is no room in the bedroom area for luggage. The windows are sealed and the Aircon wasn't working so it was a sweatbox in November. The bed is side on to the TV as the room is not big enough to place the bed across the room so it faces the TV. The room light switches are incredibly right behind your head as you sleep, so if you lean back as you get up in the night you flick the lights on with your head and wake your partner up. I mean come on. Who the hell designed this. It's as if someone has set up an experiment to stop one sleeping. I can only imagine that the architect mistakenly specified single rooms by mistake when it was built and now Ibis are trying to make the best of a bad job.

We asked to change rooms, but apparently (until the family rooms come on stream later in the year) the rest are identical

Obviously won't be staying again.

Dear Anthony C I am glad we as a team were able to make your arrival and departure at the hotel amazing and I am certainly glad you were able to locate terminal 2 easy enough. I am sorry you did not enjoy our cosy style bedrooms, they are full of all the mod cons you would ask for with Chromecast, USB ports and adjustable lighting-this has been a big hit for other guests that have stayed with us. I do hope we can convert you back to the hotel for a future stay. Anthony Robinson Senior Guest Services Manager

Yes, it is very straightforward. You walk a short distance (about 5 minutes) and there was signage. The only thing I would caution you about is that the airport is undergoing renovation and there is a lot of construction going on. At the time we were there last week there were no detours but that may not always be the case as construction continues. Safe travels
