It was for my friend's birthday and we both love a good afternoon tea. The Chancellors Hotel, a hidden gem and one I'm glad I've found. We both enjoyed it immensely, the setting was lovely, the view of the grounds surprisingly huge and pretty, we felt like we were in the

We had afternoon tea here last Thursday and it was fabulous. I had a slight problem with a Groupon voucher and Ryan, one of the managers very kindly sorted it out for me. The tea was lovely, with fresh sandwiches and yummy cakes all served on quirky vintage china. The staff were

Most disappointed with this experience. Booked through itison. Tea was served in a cracked teapot along with a cracked cup and saucer. The food was basic although the scone was burnt and had tried to be covered discreetly with icing sugar. Best bit was the record player &

Dear guest We are so sorry to learn you did not enjoy your afternoon tea experience, which is so out of sync with all other guest comments, and will be sure to revisit our large collection of vintage crockery to ensure it is in the right condition, as well as a complete consistency in the food served. We hope you brought your observations to the attention of the team, or indeed will still do so directly, so we can pinpoint exactly when and why this isolated shortcoming occurred. We hope to restore your good faith again in the near future. With best wishes Team Chancellors

I booked a double room and got a single with a 3/4 bed stuffed in. Whilst it was perfectly functional, its not somewhere to stay for pleasure. Everything worked but there is very little room to store a case or have room to stretch, unless you are a very very small. The staff

Dear Guest Thank you for taking the time to share your personal reflections. We are naturally disappointed, and welcome the opportunity to clarify some of your points, which we do hope you also took the opportunity to mention to the team during your stay. Our standard bedrooms whilst we agree could be considered compact, contain a standard 4'62 high quality bed, commonly recognised as a standard double bed. During the extensive recent refurbishment that encompassed both public areas including our beautiful conservatory that we welcome guests to enjoy, and all our bedrooms, furniture was carefully selected to fit comfortably in the space, and both décor and facilities reflect the typical traveller. We do have other rooms, and subject to availability, you may wish to consider a small upgrade cost to guarantee a larger room if this is your priority. The refurbishment went to great lengths to reflect a modern feel, and we are saddened your reflections think otherwise. In terms of our team, we collectively are dedicated to offering our guests a warm welcome and as we are uniquely independent, many guests appreciate we can adapt and respond to requests. Our association with The University of Manchester is one we cherish, as the UK's most popular university, whilst also working on commercially valued service to meet the needs of all our visitors. We are truly sorry we have it would seem, not met your expectations, and will continue to be committed to offering all our guests an enjoyable and great value experience. With best wishes Team Chancellors

we absolutely loved this hotel : the amazing architecture [ space does not allow a history of the impressive building but it is certainly worth a "Google" ], the staff were friendly and supremely professional...we always do our best not to stay in "chain hotels " because they
