The central location is a highlight, providing easy access to transport and attractions, although it comes with a caveat of potential noise disturbance. Excellent Location, 10 minute walk from Manchester Piccadilly Railway Station.

Welcoming check in and immediately upgraded free of charge to a Super Room (which I was totally unaware of until I entered the room).

The Super Room benefits from: Iron & Ironing Board, Hairdryer, Work Desk & Swivel Chair, Mood Lighting, New Décor, Lavazza Coffee Machine, Bigger Bed with a selection of firm & soft pillows & an adjustable power shower.

The room was spotlessly clean and the towels were changed everyday. The air conditioning and the TV worked fine.

I stayed in room 525 on the 5th floor and although the hotel is situated in a busy city centre the only time my sleep was disturbed was by a man who was staying in the room a couple of doors down who had a blatant disregard for anyone else trying to sleep when he returned from a night out however this was only one night and not the fault of the hotel.

Bar was reasonably priced and had a couple of meals at the location which were good value

Would definately recommend this travelodge to friends and family and will be using again when visiting Manchester

Stayed one night for a quick business stopover. Could not fault this hotel from start to finish. if you are after total luxury, don't look at a travelodge. If you want a good no-frills hotel with nice service and great location, this place is great.
Located literally 2 minutes from Piccadilly station, it is in the centre of all amenities and many rooms face Piccadilly gardens. Very close to metro stop too.
If you're after shops, the main arndale is about 5 mins walk away, along with all major shops on the street up to it. To say it is in a very busy location, the rooms are not noisy, mind you I was on the top floor so can't speak for lower floors. I asked for a quiet room and got what I wanted, but no view (not a problem as it was a business trip)

Quick and speedy check in and check out, in under 1 minute - again, efficient. Always someone to assist you, and a bar and restaurant area for breakfasts and also serves evening meals which is convenient but I did not use.
This hotel offers superrooms which are a few little extras above the standard travelodge room - coffee machine, ironing board and iron, hairdryer, comfy chair and extended desk area, mood lighting and blackout curtains. Choice of different pillows. Power shower. All made for a very comfortable stay.
Flatscreen TV, radiator and fan in room, rather than the usual extreme heat in these hotels you could control it yourself which meant I was not roasted alive trying to sleep!
Hotel is also close to Victoria station, slightly further away than Piccadilly, and I believe chargeable parking is close by too.
Could ask for more tea/milk etc as there is a basket on the bar.
Absolutely spotless, fluffy towels and nice bedding, bathroom had enough space and lighting too.

Having stayed here before and enjoyed the experience, this time I took advantage of a 30% off sale to book my 1st time in a SuperRoom. These are on the 5th/top floor so nobody above you. The corridors have plusher carpets than the other floors, as do the bedrooms. I also fancied the rooms were more spacious. The more muted decor made for a pleasant stay and the lighting was to a high standard. The comfy armchair and adjustable desk chair got a big thumbs up, but I was expecting a larger TV than standard rooms. The extras on the hospitality tray were appreciated, but I'd have thought SuperRooms should benefit from a longer free wi-fi period than standard rooms. The rooms have triple glazing to block out all external noise and the hotel is very well cared for, Good to see familiar faces on the breakfast team and Alan, who I assume is the Manager, is a great ambassador for the brand. The new wall heaters deal with all the feedback guests have given the chain over the years.

A very good budget hotel. Rooms are quite basic, but we had plenty of space and all we needed for a short stay. All the staff at the property were very friendly and happy to help, for example with storing luggage. This property is in a great location, right near a tram stop and just a few minutes walk from Piccadilly stationing one direction and from the Arndale centre and other shops in the other. There are lots of eateries nearby. We had breakfast included in our deal and there was a good choice of hot and cold food available.

Manchester Piccadilly could not be in a better location for the centre of Manchester with lots of well known shops and restaurants spitting distance from the hotels secure entrance.

The staff and cleanliness of the hotel was perfect in a 'COVID World' and changes to the stay were detailed when we checked in e.g. no room cleaning during our stay, extra towels available from reception if required.

Parking was also available at a special rate around a 10 minute walk from the hotel in a secure multi story car park.

Ok, it wasn’t as bad as the title suggests, but when we stayed on one of the hottest days of the year, last August, it certainly felt like we were in the fiery pits of Hell.

The location is good for the train station, but do be aware that the area just opposite felt very unsafe during the evening with dodgy looking people hanging around. It’s also pretty well known for not being the safest area, I discovered after googling it during our stay.

Now the actual hotel. First impressions were good. The staff were lovely and the decor was fine. Check in went smoothly but then we hit our first spot of trouble, the key wouldn’t open the door to the corridor. This was changed and again it would not work, third time we got lucky, but this scenario played out a few more times during our short stay.

The hotel room itself was large and spacious, but it felt very barren of storage space. There was a desk at one end of the room and a short but deep shelf with a rail plus a few hangers underneath, and that was it. No drawers, not even on the bedside table which was just literally a shelf. Such a nice sized room wasted really.

The bathroom was small and I noticed the toilet roll holder was dirty with dust so who knows when that last was cleaned.

Now for my main gripe. It has no air conditioning and staying on some of the hottest days of the year absolutely tormented us. There was no escape from the intense heat, it was horrendous and stifling. ‘I’ll have a nice cold shower‘ I thought, only to find it was searing hot to the point where I yelped and leapt like a demented monkey. Of all the luck.

We only stayed two nights, but it is, honestly, the worst stay in a hotel I have ever had, comfort-wise.

Never again.

With such a superb location I’m sure I’ll be staying here again since tram and bus transport is available right outside, plus the main train station only a few minutes walk. Surrounded by shops, restaurants and nightlife also means it’s suitable for whatever your occasion in the city. There’s plenty of other hotels in the vicinity but if you’re not looking for any particular frills then the value here is great.

Upon entering from the street it’s not overly obvious that the reception is on the first floor, along with the sizeable restaurant area and bar. The staff gave a great welcome and the whole check-in process was very fast and seamless, but there’s also the self-check in machines if you’d prefer. The room was everything you’d expect from the chain but fortunately was clean and modern enough. No inspiring view or air-conditioning as you’d expect, along with the typical small TV, but there was no noise in the room despite being a property right in the centre of the city.

Overall it was a perfectly fine night’s stay and for the value it offers I’ll certainly be choosing it again.

Staff are great as is the hotel.

The pillows are rock hard and uncomfortable and the WiFi is rubbish even when paid for. I paid for it and ended connecting my laptop to my mobile which was faster.

No parking in the hotel at all due to its location in Manchester. I am a blue badge holder and ended having to walk 10 minutes to get to the hotel which is not good when disabled carrying bags. This is not stated on the page when booking, an email stating it came after the booking was made a day or two later, far too late!

We needed a place to stay for just one night as we were heading to the airport the next morning. The location of this Travelodge suited us well because it is short walk to to the train station.

The only way to get inside the hotel is either with a room card or get buzzed in by reception. We arrived 1.5 hours early (before the official checkin time of 3 p.m.) and tried to get buzzed in. It took awhile but someone finally did buzz us in. Of all the seven hotels we stayed at during our long trip, this was the first one that told us we would need to pay if we wanted access to the room. We only had 1.5 hours to wait so we went to a nearby Costa Coffee so that I could access WiFi in order to check into our flight.

We went back after 3 p.m. only to wait for someone to be available to buzz us in again. When we were, there was no one at reception. Someone finally came out to check us in and we noticed she wasn't wearing a face mask despite signs in the hotel requiring everyone to mask up. We got our key card and went to our room. Upon entering, my daughter said, "I've stayed in much nicer hostels than this place!" Very strange and cheap room set-up. I realize this is a budget hotel but we stayed at a budget hotel the two previous nights in Glasgow, paid nearly half of what we paid here, and it was loads better! And that one came with a free, delicious breakfast!

Here, we paid for our breakfast and for the spotty WiFi. Breakfast was not good. There were two lovely, unmasked, older ladies working there but breakfast was lacking in every way. The hot items were looking very sad but I decided to try the potatoes, which ended up tasting of freezer burn. I also took a packaged yogurt and a packaged croissant - not fresh. If you stay here, do NOT get the breakfast! There are many places nearby that offer inexpensive, freshly made breakfasts.

Other problems with our stay include a poor shower situation. While the water pressure was very strong, the shower curtain was not magnetized to stick to the tub. This meant that there was a vacuum created when you turned on shower, the curtain billowed inside the tub (sticking to me instead) and water escaped onto the bathroom floor.

Additionally, when we finally turned off the lights to go to sleep, it suddenly felt like a disco in our room with a light flashing on and off. It turned out to be the radiator flashing an error message. There was no way to turn it off so I had to put something over it so we could sleep.

I would not stay here again.

Having not visited Manchester before, we opted for an overnight at The Travelodge Piccadilly Hotel to break our journey on the way from Devon to Scotland. We chose the Travelodge chain as we discovered it was dog friendly & this location in particular as we wanted to be within easy walking distance of the main sights with plenty of food & drink options to hand. After a busy day exploring what this interesting city has to offer, it was handy to be able to bring back some takeaway to have in our room. It was also very useful having the gardens just over the road to nip out with the dog as required. Our check in process was handled very smoothly & politely by the lovely Lynne & terrific Tommy who very helpfully answered any questions we had - above & beyond the usual experience encountered at budget establishments. Our family room was very spacious & clean. The beds were super comfy with extra pillows available if required, plenty of towels & ample supplies to make tea & coffee in our room. The only reason I haven't given a full 5 stars is because we visited when it was very hot & the room was roasting when we first checked in during the afternoon. In the absence of air conditioning a fan had already been placed in the room however & this helped make us feel much more comfortable. If I visit Manchester in the future, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again - a great price for a central location made all the more pleasurable by such attentive reception staff.
