It is confusing to have two Premier Inns so close together - once called City Centre and the other called Central! The staff at the City Centre very helpfully pointed us in the direction of the other one and said lots of people asked (and they assumed the other way round!).
Having said that, the location of this one is great - opposite the Midland Holtel, very close to the Town Hall and the Library and practically next door to the Bridgewater Hall. And Manchester's great public transport is on the doorstep.
The room was comfortable and very quiet. We prefer a shower with a flexible head but that's a minor quibble. Everything worked! We were on the 8th floor but the lifts were efficient and we never had to wait for one.
We didn't have breakfast here, preferring coffee and a croissant at the adjacent Costa.
We booked well in advance and the price of £109 for two nights was exceptionally good value for such a central location.
Very convenient and comfortable hotel. We like being able to stay until 12 noon, giving another opportunity to explore Manchester's delights.
We were here 22nd and 23rd January 2020.

This is an excellent location for The Bridgewater Hall and The Palace Theatre. Sadly on arrival the outside area had abandoned rubbish which was very off putting. We mentioned this at check-in and later in the day it had been cleared. The staff were very helpful and we had an excellent breakfast. Our room was clean and tidy. The only toiletry was liquid hand wash, so you need to take your own if you require other items. However, when booking a twin room you do not get 2 good sized and good quality single beds. The only option is a double and a smallish single which isn't the size and quality I would expect of a sigle bed. Perhaps a bigger duvet may have helped a little. I don't understand the bed set up at all.

The location is ideal and reasonably priced if you book in advance. Rooms generally pretty good but best to avoid lower floors and street/tram noise. Rooms as you'd expect from a Premier Inn but a good point is that the solid floors eliminate noise from upstairs guests - not always the case elsewhere. Restaurant can be quite good but for some reason this hotel has regular problems with the restaurant which lets it, the hotel, and its better staff members down. Also the restaurant service which is generally good can be inconsistent. Orders seem to go missing in the kitchen leaving you waiting endlessly for your meal until you complain. Orders for poached eggs with breakfast regularly get ignored. Would stay again but would consider eating elsewhere.

Really impressed overall with our stay at this Premier Inn. I usually book our Manchester stays on Booking.com, but had a look on Premier Inns website this time and it was around £20 cheaper than I usually pay.

Pros:
Room was a good size, clean, tea and coffee station, plenty of mirrors, hair dryer, shower, big comfy bed, a comfy futon, freeview, decent wifi, secure with each door requiring the key card to enter, great location, 12pm check out (which is 1/2hrs more than we usually get at other hotels in the area).

Cons:
Self check in machines were all broken/unavailable. Restaurant was shut on this occasion. Receptionist spoke too quickly and quietly (probably due to repeating the same thing over and over again each day).

Check-in was very easy with a friendly receptionist. It was clear that the maintenance and cleaning staff were working on a short turn around and the number of rooms that they had ready was very impressive.

The room itself was spacious and comfortable offering very nice views of the Midland Hotel building opposite. It is located very close to Oxford Road train station and only a short walk from the city centre itself.

Rooms were air-conditioned very well on a hot day and check out was extremely easy too. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Hotel staff was friendly and the hotel was in an excellent location. Off the bat the reception staff made myself and partner feel at ease and check use in quickly while make jokes sense of humour is definitely very important. The room was lovely just what we needed wish the TV had better channels for watching at night. The beds were super comfortable too just sink right in. The bathroom was great to just wish it came with a bath mat instead of wasting towels. The location is fantastic walking distance to the northern quarter, food shops, restaurants and deans gate.

First short break with my partner since March and most importantly we both felt very safe. The friendly lady on the front desk explained us all the new measures they put in place to make it COVID safe on check in. The rooms are spacious and modern, very clean. Can’t complain. Had a very comfortable night sleep, no noise at night from outside the room unlike other places we’ve stayed.

The only fault and I must emphasises major fault we experienced was breakfast. We pre booked the day before and arrived on time (9:30). We were sat quiet promptly and had our order for full+continental breakfast taken within 10 minutes. Only issue at this point was the staff running past our table shouting instructions/orders and saying that “this is madness”. So obviously something wasn’t going right somewhere else. Nothing other than coffee cups came by 10:00. The running and shouting continued throughout. It felt like a huge inconvenience to ask if our food was arriving soon. But we did but it didn’t. It gets to 10:20 so I go up to ask what’s going on as we’d been given our toast and polished that of but nothing else. (must add premier inns at the moment are all table service). The waitress said it was just being plated up 45 minutes after we ordered. 10:30 comes around and still nothing. We had to pay for parking at this hotel (an ncp) just over the road. If we stayed past 10:45 we would be paying for over our 24 hour parking time. I explained this to the waitress. However she asked us to to pay for what we’ve had, which was coffee and a few pieces of toast. I politely said we won’t be paying for what we did have. Before rushing to our car we told the reception desk about our experience. They could only apologies. I can’t see how anyone would be ok with waiting over an hour for a what’s normally a buffet breakfast.

To top it of we did not get the 20% off parking you should get when staying at this premier inn. But then that could be down to myself not scanning the ticket right. Anyone who is driving to this hotel for a night be prepared to pay £25.50 as that’s the price for 24 hours. Extortionate!

We would return to this hotel but not for the breakfast we never got and service that came with it.

This hotel is in a good location, I think that reflects the price, but we waiting around 50 mins to check in after arriving after 3pm. Probably why they offer the additional £10 charge for early check in as I imagine this happens a lot. The room was clean and bed comfortable but highly used as things needed some TLC - noticed the hair dryer needed testing as out of date. The food for breakfast was the highlight and the staff in the morning were brilliant - well done catering staff!!!

We stayed here recently as it offered very good value for money over the Manchester Marathon weekend. The hotel is ideally situated a couple of minutes from a tram interchange, one of which takes you down to the marathon start / finish area. Despite its central location and having a very busy adjoining pub / restaurant, there was no noise issues, although we were on one of the higher floors.

The room was of a good standard, but compared to recent Premier Inn stays, I did find the bed a little uncomfortable and hard, however everything was spotlessly clean and the staff very helpful. Would stay again if we return for the marathon.

Travelling for a concert with my daughters I had 2 rooms booked for 1 night. Never having been in Manchester before I took a chance booking this specific hotel, so glad I did!! Travelled by train and the hotel was only 5-10 mins walk from Oxford road train station. The tram stop was 2 mins walk away as well as shops and restaurants nearby. Arrived early but despite the hotel being fully booked that night the rooms were both ready within 30 mins of arrival, had a drink in bar and settled in rooms very soon after. One room was at the front of hotel with lovely big window, second room was at rear of hotel and was slightly larger than a standard room. Both clean and comfortable. Staff at Check-In were friendly and helpful. Ate in the restaurant that night, was almost empty due to all other guests being at concert so had place to ourselves! Food was lovely and fresh. We took longer to order our food but never felt rushed by staff. Room was comfortable and the air conditioning welcome on hot days. Despite being full that night we never heard anyone else! Will definitely return soon

I think they only do doubles or family rooms. Family room has double bed and they make up the single bed. We use it when my autistic nephew comes with my sister and I. Not sure about the shower facilities, you might need to contact hotel direct.
