"The room is most definitely a showstopper, there's certainly no doubting the attention to detail that has gone into bringing this new Art Deco-themed venue to life in the former bank building at the top of King Street. It offers something you can't currently find on the Manchester scene with such extravagant and quirkily-themed interiors." Manchester Evening News

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I recently stayed at Hotel Gotham, a 5-star establishment with charming Christmas decor and a lovely room. While the festive ambiance, delightful breakfast the next day, and genuinely pleasant staff, along with the thoughtful service of having our bags brought to our room, were positive aspects of our stay, issues arose at the singular bar. While the bar scheduled for 7 PM. itself contributes positively to the overall experience, we encountered an issue when informed about a private party Despite our intention to enjoy the bar until the party's commencement, we were abruptly asked to leave at 7 PM. This was particularly inconvenient, as we could have chosen alternative accommodations that accommodate private events and their guests. Adding to the disappointment, my husband purchased a drink at 6:30 PM, only to be told ten minutes later that we had to vacate early due to the early arrival of the party. When I questioned this abrupt decision, I was met with what I perceived as rudeness. Reporting the incident to the reception led to an apology and complimentary drinks, to our room, a gesture that was appreciated but not without its own hiccups. The following day, we discovered an attempt to charge us for these complimentary drinks, which was promptly corrected by a diligent receptionist. While the room was nice, a broken ironing board and the bar incident led to a less-than-ideal 5-star experience. If the hotel addresses these issues, it has the potential to truly shine and provide an exceptional stay for its guests. On a positive note, dining at Ikaro, just a 6-minute walk away, was a highlight.

Hotel's Favourite
We had such an amazing stay here! Such a beautiful hotel and so quirky. Staff are lovely, polite and super helpful. The food is gorgeous and the drinks are fab to! The whole place is just brilliant, couldn't fault it! There are so many additional extras that you can add on to your stay to, they really have thought of everything! I mentioned on my booking that it was for my husbands birthday and when we were checking in they said happy birthday to him and when we got to the room there was a happy birthday message and chocolates on the side, just super personal. Loved it!

A few of us stayed at hotel Gotham on a Wednesday evening after our company Christmas dinner. We were warmly greeted by the reception staff and check-in was quick. I had requested a quiet room when booking but was disappointed to get a room on the third floor. Some of my colleagues who hadn't made the same request had rooms on higher floors. The room was well appointed and clean. There was some noise from the Flight Club below which went on until about 1 am. The building is old with single glazed lead windows so this was unavoidable. We went for a drink in the hotel bar before heading out to dinner. We were disappointed that the main part of the bar was closed off for a private function so we were squashed in to a narrow corridor-type room which lead to the main bar. It was annoying that we were not told about this at the time of booking as we would otherwise have stayed elsewhere. Hotel Gotham is a lovely hotel and the staff are great, but given the location and the noise outside, I wouldn't stay again.

Booked through booking.com a suite costing £681 .. then contacted them as my grandmother passed away, so wanted to change the booking, no availability at any despite the same suite being £360 less than I am expected to pay, can’t make the room and have tried numerous dates only to be told they are unavailable, so the hotel is making £681 for not being able to offer customer service . I am sure it’s typical of most of these hotels but truly totally appalling they won’t even allow a change of date truly a con

Fantastic Hotel. Room was amazing, very spacious and had everything necessary and more. Great location, very central for everywhere. Lovely bar on the top floor with some great views. Really enjoyed my stay and if I am in Manchester again, will definitely stay here without a doubt. All the staff are so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.

Well this hotel is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever visited and I have visited the best in Venice , Dubai and New York to mention a few and this is truly up among the best . As you enter you feel transported back to a world of 1920’s glamour and luxury and it does not disappoint as you head to your room . It’s a continuous feast for all of your senses and the only downside to it is that my stay was not long enough ! The price is on the more expensive side of average however this hotel is worth every penny to make an occasion special plus it’s location is perfect for shopping , meals and theatre trips as you are right in the beating heart of Manchester. Highly recommend and we will definitely be visiting again !

I was treated to the Big Band Night in the Gilt Room for my birthday and just ‘wow’! The the intimate Speakeasy setting was unique, the food was delicious and the service was fabulous. Attentive but not intrusive. The star of the night, however, was the band. A 14 piece jazz band led by Will and singer James were simply incredible. The music were songs we all knew and we were singing and dancing all night long. If you have the opportunity to experience this, I urge to do so. You won’t be disappointed!

I bought an experience voucher for my partner as a Christmas present. From arrival to departure everyone was very friendly, helpful and happy! Our room was amazing, service was excellent (that includes room service!) and we it felt like a real treat. We had a cocktail in Club Brass which was amazing! We would love to go back in the Summer so we can sit outside on the terrace. We decided to have dinner via room service. The pizza was awesome, as were the skin on fries. We did go to the restaurant for breakfast though and the service once again was great - the Gotham team couldn't do enough for you. We were sad to go but will definitely return! Thank you all!

Booked a lunch for daughters 18th and bought a gift voucher for her to use but it came with the wrong start date on to when we were going do emailed to change the date. Had no response so emailed again, but still no response. Decided to go and enjoy the experience anyway and talk to them while there to change the date on voucher. Upon arrival I explained what had happened and was told someone would sort. We ordered food and drinks and then waited ages for drinks to arrive, water, coffee and coke came but we said we had also orders a prosecco, which they said we hadn't! Then they brought over 2 bottles of cider, which I said wasn't ours, to which I was told yes I had ordered them! Finally processo came..... Then all other guests were been attended to very favorably for their afternoon teas we sat waiting for starters. They didn't come, the main came. I mentioned we still hadn't even had starters and they said oh I bring them now. Why on earth would I have starters with my main? So I asked just to cancel them. We ate the food but it was really basic, not what I expected there. I think they were more concerned about their afternoon tea affairs! Again I asked about the gift voucher and got no where. The whole experience was awful. And still waiting for a reply to my emails and just want a refund.

Me and my husband stayed at Hotel Gotham last week, a little treat for our 10th year anniversary! I must say, everything felt magical. So special and super personal. The lovely host, I think her name is Emelia? was exceptional from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. She even gave us a tour of the rooftop bar. It was lovely, will definitely be back.
