Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hotel located in the center next to the train station. Quiet area convenient to park and walk to downtown. Hotel is a bit dated but well maintained, rooms could be a bit renovated, but overall comfortable. It's a good choice to visit Colmar..

We stayed two nights on a weekend during the VERY busy Christmastime in Colmar. It is super convenient to the train station---just across the street. There were a lot of people arriving at the same time from the station and considering how busy it was, the staff were very efficient in taking our bags until check in time, getting people checked in, and accommodating everyone. The lobby areas/main level have been updated and are stylish and appealing. The rooms and hallways are more dated and could use refurbishment although the rooms were very clean and comfortable. Like all of the rooms in France during the winter, it was a bit warm for me even with the heat turned off or set to the lowest temperature. Our room was fairly spacious and the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was not cramped at all. The biggest problem was the broken elevator. We are able bodied so walking up and down to the 4th floor wasn't a huge problem--and we only had carry on bags but...the hotel was pretty full and we passed a lot of people on the stairs hauling their heavy bags up the stairs. We were there two days and the elevator was out of service for two pretty long periods of time. This was a major inconvenience to a lot of the guests although we managed fine. There didn't seem to be much of an apology from the staff--just a note on the elevator. It seems they could have compensated by giving out free breakfast vouchers or drink vouchers for the lounge or something. The hotel, although across from the station, seems to be in a residential area with not many shops nor restaurants. It is about a 10-15 minute walk into the old city center which is a straight shot and not a bad walk. We did find a couple of places on the other side of the station to eat---a casual but tasty Turkish place. (go through the station -under the tracks) about a 5 minute walk away which was convenient. Staff were very helpful with information on local buses, bus stops, etc. They were helpful and accommodating. THe lobby/lounge area was nice and we sat there awhile one afternoon after having checked out while waiting for our train.

Awful! Stay away from this hotel. I know it looks cool on the photos but they are all a big lie. The receptionist told us they voluntarily upgrade our room. When we got into our room we couldnt believe our eyes. It was almost experiencing a time machine back to 70s. We asked for change of room but ofcourse they refused it. Every item in the room was old and dusty. I cant remember last time I saw a plasticsht 80s water kettle which most probably used by millions of people from all over the world and I dont want to think what they did with it. The radiator was not capable pf heating the room so we both got sick. That was the worst part. And even the bed is not a real bed. It has wheels under it means constantly moving when you on it and it was super uncomfortable. It was a horrible experience and I paid 135 per night! ah hell!

Every year, my wife and I spend a couple of days abroad to celebrate New Year. The Grand Hotel Bristol was booked through TUI. Having read other clients' comments, I was apprehensive at first, but I can safely say that there was nothing for us to complain about. The hotel rating system differs from country to country, by the way. We were checked in by a young gentleman in a professional manner and were given room 413, which was properly renovated. Apart from the doors, everything was new and spic&span. The twin beds were excellent. Air conditioning and the radiator were working fine. Double glazing and shutters kept the noise from the train station out. We were fortunate in having quiet neighbours, as the walls are not exactly sound proof. It is remarkable however how well the rooms were renovated, considering the fact that the Grand Hotel Bristol is an ancient building. This explains why some bathrooms are smaller compared to modern hotels. The reception area was always kept very clean and we liked the interior styling. This hotel has its own charm. The breakfast buffet would benefit from a small upgrade but was still acceptable. Some clients mention having met with unfriendly staff. My response to that is; put yourself in their place. If you are a man of the world, you know what to do to earn a smile and a great service. All in all, my wife and I wish to rate this hotel somewhere between average and very good.

Traveled with family for a long weekend. Of all of our hotel stays in France, this one was the worst. The location next to the train station was great, but apart from that everything was terrible. The room reeked on cigarette smoke, the bed linens were dirty, the hair dryer in the bathroom didnt work. Hotel front desk staff was zero help and RUDE despite asking multiple times for new bed linens and hair dryer. We ended up taking linens from the maid's cart and changed the beds ourselves. THere are other hotels in the area that are far better for the price.

I travel for a living and the hotel staff is the rudest I've encountered. Hotel is outdated, smells like cigarette smoke and the carpet is filthy. Hotel restaurant was completely booked for our stay, take out/room service not available and can't have drinks at the bar. We had better service at the pizza parlor at the train station across the strett

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to do a short trip to Colmar from Paris. It has friendly staff, abundance of lockers if you want to leave your stuff and tour Colmar after you check out, amazing amazingly delicious breakfast buffet and clean and tidy rooms.

Great quiet air-conditioning, large room, plenty of bench space, good-sized bathroom with shower, thankfully not in a bath and large bath towels, not much traffic noise despite busy location, and close to railway station. Now the negatives: Well away from town centre, so a long walk for coffee or meals, and hotel eateries expensive - very little available nearby except a few items at the railway station. Room location of card slot for power on means you are in the dark, fumbling around. Wardrobe location in room corner with a partially-opening door makes it difficult to access items. Light switch in bathroom was in the far corner, so more fumbling around in the dark. The breakfast layout was crammed in a corner of the breakfast area, folks all reaching over each other. No info on wi-fi access anywhere, so couldn’t access online room directory at first. No information provided on arrival, had to figure things out. But the worst item was the arrogant rudeness of a few of the staff, who seemed to believe the hotel was being run for their personal benefit. They seemed to have a very abrupt attitude. Not all staff, but in many cases, their initial greeting was not pleasant. It seemed strange that the front desk staff had to consult the manager on a minor room item. Looking at past reviews, this does seem to be an endemic problem with this hotel, and it’s not a place I’ll ever come back to.

Has a huge location advantage being right next to the train station. Staff was helpful and we were delighted to get upgraded to junior suite which was more spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was good. Would surely recommend this property to travellers!

Stayed here for four nights while enjoying historic Colamr, Strasbough and the Rue de Vin. Across the street from the Colmar train station, a short walk into the historic center of Colmar. Very clean area! Well appointed room with comfortable bed. Room serviced each day of our stay. On-site luggage storage which is like a room safe; you choose your locker and secure with your own passcode. Comfortable area to meet friends. Breakfast had plenty of choices. On site restaurant for dinner (if you like); plenty of other places a short walk. We would stay here again.
