We loved staying at Hotel Labottiere and Daniel is fantastic host who goes out of his way to make you feel very welcome. He gives you a list of his favourite restaurants in Bordeax and the best places to see. It's so quiet staying there even though you are In the middle of the city you cannot hear any background... This hotel is the polar opposite to the large corporates that dominate the current hotel world - it only has 4 bedrooms! - plusses: ideally located for the city centre, great atmosphere, it's like stepping back in time to the 1890's, great breakfast, superb quality, large & imaginative using local specialities, charming staff & the owner Daniel is the perfect... A special, charming, little hotel in a grand setting. Sleep in grand comfort in the same bedroom as previously used by French president d'Estaing! Try unusual local specialities for breakfast and be regaled with stories of the history of the property by the helpful and interesting owner. A 'must stay' hotel for a short visit to Bordeaux.

We were arriving one day early for our week-long-stay in Biscarosse. And needed somewhere to stay I booked the hotel on a whim and promptly forgot about it. Upon arrival, I realised why I had chosen it from the websites - la Petit Hotel is the most special and different place that you could find. It is in a very... More

First of all, the room was large and comfortable. The bed was lovely and the furniture characteristically stylish. The proprietor was charming, articulate and helpful. He spoke excellent English and knew all of the best places to go. Breakfast was an experience rather than a meal. Alone in a large orangery, we were left to savour a wonderful choice. The... More

Arrived after a long day riding in pouring rain. I needed a city centre hotel with parking and choose here, happy I did. The house is lovingly restored by Daniel's family over many years, attention to detail was apparent everywhere. After having a bath it was of out to sample some of Daniel's recommendations for dinner and wine, he even... More

This charming hotel is well situated for a first time exploration of Bordeaux. We were greeted warmly by Daniel and given a quick run through of the best places to eat and those to avoid which proved invaluable. I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to write this review, but almost a year after our stay, it's still one of our fondest memories of France. It's very hard to adequately explain the history and charm of Labottiere. The tour with Daniel is a not to be missed. We spent hours chatting with him and learned so... More

We reserved based on the wonderful comments in Tripadvisor. Very friendly welcome, despite our train being late. Excellent breakfast, and the main building is a lovely "hotel particulier"- but avoid the rear house, where our room was. It is like going into Ms Haversham's sealed-off room; very old decor, morbid crucifixion scenes with skulls, carpeted walls, etc. Our complaint was... More

In the heart of Bordeaux: a unique and precious witness the art of living in the XVIIIth century.
