Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Isabelle is a very welcoming and wonderful host. Everything you could ask for (and more) in a host. We had little knowledge of Bordeaux and surrounding areas, but Isabelle provided us with great tips on where and how to get around - and made our trip more enjoyable and economical. The location is perfect - less than 5 minute walk to Gare Saint-Jean - where you can take the tram to explore Bordeaux, Saint-Émilion and surrounding areas - or walk to the the heart of the city in 30 minutes. The accommodation - room is spacious and very clean. While we stayed in the room facing the street - it was quiet - but for a light sleeper - the sound from motorbikes (very seldom though) may wake you up (we had windows open). Breakfast is amazing - everything is freshly made - croissants, chocolatine & baguettes - with a variety of confiture - coffee and fresh fruits. We highly recommend Le Halte Montaigne and revisit when in Bordeaux. Merci beaucoup, Isabelle.

Great stay with Isabelle. Breakfast is generous and we made up cheese rolls to keep us going through the day.. Local bakery , Antone is brilliant and local cafe opposite Le Furtado is also great value. We followed Isabelle instructions as follows: 1) Tram system is brilliant and the weekly ticket (€14.20) is a great deal bought at Gare St Jean. Transit police Do check so pay up. 2) Maison du Vin (opposite Tourist Bureau) is amazing. Bordeaux wines by the glass (€3-7) and plates to share. 3) I found the submarine base with incredible AV display with Pink Floyd soundtrack a great experience. Easy tram and bus connection. 4) All the food is good but Les Droles is cheap and cheerful, Echo young and buzzy. 5) do take the Visitour bus (despite your misgivings) it does give you a great sense of the town. Bordeaux is a small town with a huge story and needs 3-5 days to do it justice. If you’re walking with suitcases from StJean Gare, use Rue Beziers then up Rue Fieffe. Continue across Rue Furtado and turn left up Rue Bertrand Andieu to head up to Rue Pelleport. It’s quiet and you can safely roll suitcases on the roads. If you’re coming from the airport, get the 30 Direct bus from the airport which delivers you to Gare St Jean for €8 per person.

La Halte Montaigne was less than a 5 minute walk from the Bordeaux train station which was what we were looking for. However besides convenient it was unique, charming and full of a lot of character. The breakfast was extensive and fulfilling. Isabelle was a wonderful hostess and full of suggestions of what to see in Bordeaux. The room was squeaky clean and very affordable.

We spent an excellent weekend in Bordeaux. The B&B is close to the trainstation and in walking distance from the city center. Public transport is also very close. The rooms are very comfortable and spatious. The breakfast is excellent, with local products. Isabelle is an excellent host. We followed her recommendations for visits, and were more than pleased. Make sure to ask her for her 'advice for a 'route through Bordeaux'. We met people from all over the world in a cosy atmosphere during breakfast. I would definitely recommend la Halte Montaigne to anyone visiting Bordeaux.

I stayed with my mother for 4 nights. The house is as beautiful as it looks in the photos. Isabelle could not be nicer, she marked out places and routes for us to visit and her breakfast was delicious with lots of strong coffee and great bread and cheese among other things. There's also facilities to make tea at other times in the little kitchen for guests. I was wondering how comfortable it would be to share a bed with my mum for four nights but the bed was good and big and very comfortable, felt like a foam mattress. The location is 5 minutes walk to Gare St Jean where you can get the tram into the centre of the city or trains out of the city. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed 7 nights and had a most enjoyable stay. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the station and about 25 minutes to the main town. There is a tram service at just under 2 euros. The room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was substantial (usual French breakfast). There is a small kitchen area for guests to make tea/coffee with a fridge. Guests were also able to eat in the evening in the patio area. Isabelle runs the hotel and is very friendly, helpful and good fun. She speaks good English as well and will offer good advice on the various tourist attractions. If we should ever visit Bordeaux again we would only stay at this hotel. Duly recommended.
