We stay in this hotel every time we visit St Malo and the rooms are a good size and clean. It has been updated in recent years, though it retains lots of character. Quiet and right in the centre of town - ideal for bars, shops and restaurants.

This hotel situated within the walls of St Malo is superbly located next to the beach and in the wall city itself, maybe the only problem might be the parking if you have a car, we stayed there over Christmas and at night we had difficulties finding a space for the car, so probably very difficult during the Summer season, and...

We try a new hotel every year in St Malo because we visit family there each year at Christmas. This one had clean and quiet rooms and is located in a lovely square. The hotel appears to have been pieced together from several buildings, and the decor is quite disjointed as a result. The lift, as many have commented, is...

This hotel is charming and full of character. It is in the corner of a busy square surrounded by restaurants and cafes but right next to the ramparts and sea although it doesn't have a sea view. Our room was adequate with a large bathroom. It was a cold weekend but the room was warm and comfortable and had British...

Breakfast first class, loads of everything, room clean and comfortable, only down side was would have liked a bath instead of the shower, but hey ho, still great. Bar was outstanding, very nostalgic with all the...

Situated just within the city walls, a very short walk from the tourist office and buses. A very helpful receptionist, clean and comfortable room, very quiet. An old building, so the lift is very small, but the plumbing very modern and efficient. Excellent breakfast, no other meals in the hotel, but a short walk to the good Jacques Cartier restaurant,...

We used this as a base to visit Mont Saint Michel and was suprised at the location and how close it is to a very pretty town. The hotel is basic and has no aircon so could be a bit warm in the high season and as a tip try and get a room away from the stairway and lifts...

Had a short break here, 3 nights. Myself and two children had a double room with put up bed added. The room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Everything worked well, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included in a very reasonable price and the choice of food was excellent. Location wise, the hotel is perfect for...

The TGV back to Rotterdam left the next morning. My holidays on the sailing boat were over, and I needed a place to stay. What a nice surprise that Hotel l'Universe had a single room available at this short notice. On the edge of the intra muros and a short walk to the TGV station
