The hosts were wonderful, attentive, charming, The room was a good size for the money. The location was Intramuros, close to the ramparts near a couple of very good restaurants, a block or two away from the main tourist flow. Good elevator. If you want to be convinced that this building survived the bombing, take the stairs...! We drove there, and with some walking to the main town outside the wall essentially parked for free, bringing the car Intramuros about 8 pm the night we left and feeding the meter by 9 am the morning of checkout. Parking is free overnight intramuros and free by Post Office in town. It was an experience to drive those narrow one-way streets, and yes, you even get to drive on the ramparts when you get near the hotel. On the whole, I would avoid a car Intramuros and stay in one of the beach hotels that have parking and are outside the wall. Intramuros hotels work better with a train arrival!

You open the door to be greeted by Edward’s welcoming smile (the owner). Right away he picks up your luggage (no need to schlep them to the room) and kindly offers a coffee/tea/glass of wine.
Would you need directions and tips, he sits down with you and starts sharing on a map the best spots and what to do. Then mal in hands, off you go, for a great day.
The place to be in Saint-Malo!

We stayed for a night in October: one room for two + one (a 9 year old child) and another for two and a dog.

I had called to make sure dogs were allowed and Edward (an amazing host) recommended I book two specific rooms: one of them fitted with its own room (for our child who felt very special about it) and another one with an alcove (for the dog who did not seem to complain about it!).

The breakfast exceeded our expectations (full, tasty, fresh and varied) and the hotel itself is very very quiet.

Truth be told, all 5 of us wanted to stay another night but prior arrangements had been made so it will be for next time we're in the country!

Within the walled “Corsaire” city of Saint Malo you will find this small welcoming hotel. Le Nautilus is located close to the beach, shopping streets, local restaurants, bars & pubs and the bus station. On arrival at the hotel we were offert a nice glass of white wine and had a nice chat with the owner. We felt very welcome! The breakfast is a must, it is fresh from the local Boulanger. The owner told us where to find this Boulanger so we could enjoy fresh sandwich’s for lunch.

Staying midweek, nice and quiet on the streets, even the weather was perfect. Enjoying long walks on the beach or through the small city.

A very welcoming experience!

This is a fantastic hotel that has got everything right.

The greeting we had was warm and included a welcome drink, plus helpful tourist advice.

Our room was well-kept and included an incredibly comfortable bed.

We were pleased to have accepted the offer of a paid continental breakfast, which was tasty and excellent value for money.

Definitely investigate this hotel when looking for somewhere to stay in St Malo…

I was St Malo for a business trip at La Place du Grand Large (5 minute walk!) and I enjoyed my stay a lot at this hotel. You are close to the city center and its local shops and restaurants, as well as the beach. The attic room was perfect for one person and had a super cozy view across the roofs and basilisk of St Malo. After enjoying silent nights, the day started off just right with their tasty petit déjeuner. The biggest plus of this hotel was the owner‘s and staff‘s great hospitability. They truly care for their guests and want them to feel comfortable during their stay. They recommend local restaurants and scenic walks, so do not hesitate to ask them anything. If I could give them 10/5 stars for hospitability, I would. When I visit St. Malo again, I will definitely be booking here. Thanks for the great stay!

After just a 15 minute walk from the ferry port we were warmly greeted by our charming hosts over a coffee. We had fun learning about places to visit and good places to eat and drink. It is situated in a prime location just minutes from the main streets, but tucked away and peaceful for a quiet night's sleep. The hotel has clearly had a recent glow up and has some luxurious touches. The beds are incredibly comfortable and cocooned you to sleep in high quality linen. The shower was great and we had big fluffy towels too! Super clean throughout. Excellent value breakfast with quality local produce, including the delicious local artisan butter. If you like you can borrow the hotel Nautilus bikes to get explore further afield, Exceptional hosts with impressive linguistic skills that made every guest feel at home. Highly recommend and will most definitely be back. The Best - thank you!

The hotel is within the walled town of St. Malo, close to the sea and a good base for exploring on foot. The owners speak fluent English and were very welcoming and helpful. Communication prior to our stay was helpful. The hotel has a small lift, convenient if you need to carry luggage upstairs. Everywhere was very clean.
The towels and bed linen are good quality. Our bathroom was compact but well-equipped. There was a television in the room. Breakfasts were served at table and were lovely fresh bread and pastries with local butter and jam. Yogurts were available too. We parked our car nearby on the street near the sea wall which was cheaper than the car park outside the walls and more convenient.

Staying in this hotel for a short stay is ok as the location is very good. But if you are staying for more than 3 days, it’s better for you to find another hotel as the rooms are quite small, no aircon (so you have to open the window which is not ideal because it’s facing the street and you will hear the noises outside), lift is very small and quite slow. If you have a type of car that is larger than a Peugeot 208, it’s better for you to park outside and it’s cheaper than renting the garage hotel.

Dear Mrs T, Thank you for your comment; we are very sad to hear that you didn't enjoy your 2 weeks stay with us; We had the impression that you enjoyed it as well as your son and husband and even your little dog enjoyed is fresh breakfast daily; We thought that you inviting your daughter to join for one week as well was a sign of enjoyment; We understood that the parking was an issue and you mentioned the size of it on day 2, we agreed immediately on your requirement and commercial gesture so we thought that it was making you happy and that the issue was settled; We are very sorry to hear that it was not the case; We are always trying to improve this is why discovering your comment on garage rates, we have added the rate range of all car parks to our garage information as well as terms and conditions; We wish we could have discussed it with you with the rest of your requirements at the beginning of your stay to make it the most enjoyable for you; Thank you for sharing this comment as it will help us for future guests, With kind regards Aurelie and Edward
