This hotel is perfectly placed for seeing the town. It is old, no lift that I could see, sloping floors and our room (no 13) was accessed from an outside balcony. The room itself was fine - two large beds, a big bathroom with shower over bath, very clean and with an old wardrobe that we could only open one...

The hotel was quite dated, but you could view this as 'rustic'. The bathroom was huge, albeit very old fashioned and dark. There was a shower in the bath with no shower curtain, so this caused a couple of issues and the floor ended up rather wet. Towels were not the normal crisp white, but dark brown and burgundy which...

I showed up on spec one evening having ridden my motorbike from England. Superbly central location in the town and the hotel has old-world charm. I was immediately won over by the locked courtyard parking area. The oldish woman at reception was quite charmless. Indeed, the hotel doesn't major on friendliness; it has that slightly French shoulder-shrug quality. This place...

I confirmed a room at this hotel using booking.com. chosen due to its proximity to the central part of Auxerre. The location was wonderful . . the hotel was a disaster. We drove into the parking garage and were "greeted" by a disheveled woman chastising us for our entry. We explained that we were hotel guests and she waved us...

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is on the main town square, so very handy for all of the town, which boasts 50 restaurants. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a bathroom. The bath was OK for us, but people of over average weight would have had trouble getting in it, it was small. There is...

Stayed one night on our trip to Lodeve. You cannot get more central than this. Our room was on the balcony overlooking the courtyard, super room clean and a little quirky. Breakfast was good, being Sunday the restaurant was closed. Out of the hotel and your in the main square with bars and restaurants. Auxerre is a great historic town...

We stayed here on a drive back from skiing in the alps. The one-way system is challenging, but otherwise a great location. The hotel is charming and comfortable and is in character with this gem of a Burgundian town. If you want a modern, all mod-cons hotel, this is not for you. For us, it was a very welcome change...

Having read the previous reviews, I think it all comes down to what you want in a hotel. If you want chic, smooth, modern and English speaking don't come here. However,If you want something with a bit of character, local flavour and an excellent central location in a beautiful medieval city, you will probably enjoy this hotel. The hotel decor...

We were travelling to the South of France and stopped in Auxerre in order to combine an overnight stop-over with a visit to the cathederal. I dropped my wife off and asked her to check the hotel out, while I did a circuit of the town to park the car. I said to her to book an overnight if she...
