Whilst it isn't the Ritz it was a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. The owner was very welcoming and hospitable. We were the only guests on the night we stayed and were given a choice of rooms. We chose the room with large patio doors but other rooms did not have a window which might put some people off. The... More

wow, what can I say , it was fantastic, a great experience, yes it can get a bit damp in your room ( cave) but this is to be expected , I would recommend that you have cash to pay as they don't take cards

It was very humid inside the rooms, up to the point that we had to leave just after one night of stay (though we plan to stay there for 3 nights) - the very first time in our rather long travel experience. The owners - a young couple - had to keep the entrance doors opened all the time, to... More

The owners were very friendly and nice, and spoke good English. The location is good - 10 minute walk from Ambois center, but you have to park the car on the road (no parking for the hotel). The breakfast was fresh and tasty, and the hotel has both a garden and an indoor swimming pool, though we didn't use them.... More

We stayed one night only, wish we had more time gir a longer stay. Very friendly staff. Made us feel very welcome. Loved the cave rooms. Different from the regular hotels. Would definitely recommend. Good breakfast included. Rolls, croissants, yogurt; juice and cafe. Great location. Close to town and a short drive to several chateaux.

We stayed in the hibiscus suite for one night. We chose this bed and breakfast to have a memorable experience: a room in a cave! But above all, we wanted to get some peace and recharge our batteries. (sans children!) Le Clos de l'Hermitage is 10 minutes walk from Amboise castle and the city centre. There is not a carpark... More

We stayed at Chambres d’Hotes Le Clos de L’Hermitage for 5 nights in June. Our stay turned out okay but started badly. Firstly, the accommodation was not quite what I had expected from their website and from the positive Tripadvisor reviews. I had stayed in a luxury cave room on Santorini some years ago which was lovely, so I thought... More

We stayed here for one night, and it was definitely the hotel we were most looking forward to staying in. It's a unique experience sleeping in a hotel carved out of a cave. It combines being a very ancient way of living with a modern twist - the bathrooms were very modern, obviously the air filters and moisture removers are... More

My wife and I and my inlaws spent only one night at Le Clos de l'Hermitage during our visit to the Loire Valley castle region, but honestly, I wish we'd have stayed a little longer. It was one of the most unique bed and breakfast experiences I've had and my favourite stay during our vacation to France. First of all,... More

We really loved staying here! Our cave room was tasteful, comfortable and very clean. We had a little patio just outside and enjoyed reading with local wine and cheese in the beautiful garden. It is a short walk into Amboise, but away from the tourist noise. Cyril, our host was warm and welcoming and quite helpful. It was totally different... More
