Detailed Reviews
We stayed for 2 nights, family holidays on bicycles. The surroundings are lovely, and the B&B is a gem. The photos on booking sites reflect exactly what you will see there. The host, Mme Annick, gave us a very warm welcome with her family of animals. She is a delightful person who went out of her way to make our stay comfortable. She bought the manoir in ruins and completely renovated it so you do get the charm of an old French manoir coupled with modern comfort. The rooms are large, comfortable, decorated with good taste of old French country house and are spotless clean. Even though there are animals on the property, everything is so organized and clean that you can’t help but just enjoy the environment of nature. Breakfast includes a good choice of French pastries, fresh breads and delicious homemade jams accompany by a choice of cheese and fruit. We are more of non-sugar breakfast fans and Mme Annick made an effort to accommodate us with additional choice of food. We had a great stay.

I have traveled to many countries and stayed in many B&Bs, but I can honestly say this was the most restful and pleasant stay!
My friend S. (who is from France) and I stayed at this most lovely Bed and Breakfast for a week. S. had stayed there before with her daughter and family and recommended the Manoir de la Maison Blanche since we wanted to visit the castles of the Loire Valley.
It was so beautiful and charming! It was nestled in a rural neighborhood just minutes away from the quaint town and castle of Amboise. It is a great central location for many attractions in the area.
The accomodations were delightful and spacious; the architecture and design were well thought out and our room so tastefully decorated. The outdoor courtyards and lounging areas were surrounded by roses and fragrant bushes; the grounds and landscape were inviting!
The 2 llamas and horses only added to the scenery.
Annick was the perfect hostess! Her breakfasts each morning were quintessential France with a delicious spread of fruit, jams, breads, yogurt, juices and teas! We hated leaving every morning but longed to return every evening!
I have fond memories of my stay and getting to know Annick. I hope to return with my children and grandchildren one day!

My husband and I stayed in a ground floor room in this charming & beautiful B&B in September 2022 for 4 nights. As we turned into the driveway, we looked at each other and smiled as we could already tell that it was just what we had hoped for. The room was large with a comfortable bed and dining table. Each piece of furniture was obviously chosen with care. There was a door leading into the garden and all windows had beautiful lace curtains. There is a shared kitchen where we stored the goodies we bought at the Sunday outdoor market (and ate for lunch and snacks)and tables for outdoor dining in the courtyard. Be ready for visits by the two kitties and 2 dogs, all of whom were well behaved and provided welcomed entertainment. Breakfast consisted of a delicious variety of homemade bread, croissants and other pastries along with homemade jams and preserves (and coffee, lots of coffee). The owner, Annick, is so nice and a wealth of information about the local sights. With her help, we decided at breakfast each morning where we would head to that day. We want to go back immediately, but will have to wait for next time. Thank you Annick!

We stayed here 2 nights while doing a self guided bike tour of the Loire Valley. The room was cozy and the property very interesting. The host was very nice. The breakfast was a basket of baked goods from a very good bakery. The jams were homemade and delicious. There was no egg, ham, cheese or any kind of protein . There was orange juice. My husband is a type 2 diabetic and needs more than carbs. Her daughter is an endocrinologist so she should have a clue as to what makes a healthy breakfast!

This was our second stay at the Maison Blanche and it only solidified our opinion that Annick is one of the premier hostesses in the Val de Loire! The continental breakfast has the best fresh breads and pastries you can imagine and the rooms are pristine as well as nicely equipped. Annick is very accommodating and there to help with resources, if you need anything. Sitting in the courtyard is a treat at any time of day and a lovely spot for a before dinner glass of wine!! When you go, don't miss the horses and llamas!! Keep up the good work Annick!! Hope to see you again soon!!

+1
Serene, relaxing BnB in a rural setting, yet only 10 minutes walk from Clos de Luce. If you like animals, there are 2 well-behaved friendly cats and 1 sweet dog on the property along with 2 horses and a llama! The proprietors, Annick, and her adult daughter both speak English. They are so kind and welcoming, you feel right at home immediately. There is a small kitchen open to guests with a fridge and microwave, The room I had was a converted old stable with so much character! It was shady and cool, despite the 95 degree temps on my first day. (There is also a fan!) Relax in the evenings in the lovely courtyard and enjoy a simple dinner with a glass of local wine among the trees. You’ll love it here!

There are a lot of positive things about this B&B. For those I will defer to the other reviews. However, I had a very negative overall experience due to bed bugs and, for my stay, I think an "average" overall rating is generous. This is an insect that lives in beds/pillows and bites you at night. The sores appear a few days later, itch like crazy (it feels and looks like chicken pox), and takes a week to heal. I stayed there three nights and had three nights worth of bites. I had to go to the emergency room. I was seen by two doctors, both said it was one of the worse cases they had seen. The owner apologized for the incident. I hope no one else has a similar problem.

Response from AmboiseAure, Owner at Manoir de la Maison Blanche
Responded 14 Jun 2012
I must say that I'm astonished by your review – guests stayed in exactly the same room immediately before and after your stay, and these guests have since confirmed that they have absolutely ZERO symptoms of any kind. After your review I inspected all the bedding and the entire room in-depth – there were (and still are) absolutely no signs at all of any presence of bedbugs. I always clean and disinfect the rooms every day, whether there are customers present or not. I have scheduled a formal inspection to take place shortly so that I can certify the absence of any kind of biting insect on my premises.

My husband and I stayed here with our college-age son in late June, 2006. I had "discovered" it on Trip Advisor and found that it totally lived up to the reviews. The key is Annick, the hostess, who is full of life, very outgoing and interested in her guests. (Her English is quite good, so she is comfortable conversing with those of us whose French is not there.) She has lived in the area a long time, so she knows it well and had great recommendations. For eating places, chateaus, etc. Also great breakfasts. We found Annick to be very helpful with whatever we needed (like ice cubes, or another cup of coffee, or wireless access) or wanted to know. La Maison de la Manoir Blanche is toward the edge of town, with grounds that are nice and relaxing without being fussy or ostentatious. (See her web site for pictures.) There are a couple patios, which were very pleasant for lounging around. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and also we appreciated that the bed was firm and larger than a regular double. I think there were more rooms than ours that had another bed or two in them, also. Which was one reason I was looking at B&B's in the first place - we found they were more likely to have rooms with an extra bed for not that much more. So this was very reasonable price-wise. The walk into town was very pleasant, going past the Clos Luce and ending up walking along the walls of the castle. And as the main part of Amboise is heavily touristed, we liked being a bit out of the way. So this was a total thumbs up (except the weather - rain).

From the moment we entered onto Annick's stunning grounds we were enveloped by her hospitality. Quite friendly and full of helpful suggestions for our visit, her genuine care and warmth made for a wonderful stay. Highlights included the extremely clean well furnished rooms, delightfully tasty breakfast of local treats we will not soon forget, and of course the owner. Perhaps best put into her own words as we arrived to her property, "Welcome home." We cannot thank her enough for making our stay so special.

We have just returned home after staying with Madamme Delechenau at her fantastic guest house. Myself and my partner were both completely wowed by the place the moment we walked up the drive.
We had a second floor room which was absolutely huge, at least 5 times the size of the room we had in Paris! The room was spotlessly clean with real attention paid to detail, charming pictures and accesories which completely fitted with the feel of the property. The room somehow combined old charm with the beams and tiled floors with the modern convenience of new looking bathroom fittings and a powerful modern shower.
It is our opinion that Madamme Delechenau is far too passionate about the service she provides for uncleanliness of any kind and this was certainly not our experience.
We were also lucky enough to have a fantastic view of the grounds to the rear of the property and were delighted to hear the birds singing in the morning outside the window.
To summarise, this property offers a peaceful location with a rural feel with fantastic rooms and a friendly host who will do her best to ensure you are comfortable and get the most out of your stay.

Hi Amanda,
It is totally safe, and you can also park for free in the town, with hundreds of parking places near the Loire river. Be careful on friday and sunday mornings because of the market, it is a little bit more difficult to find a spot but still doable.
Have a nice day,
Annick
