Another amazing stay and I highly recommend this place to all. Jerome, Charlotte and family - and their cute dogs - are lovely hosts, always welcoming and helpful but never over the top. We loved the chance to play and mix with other families, as well as having plenty of peace and quiet in our own, beautifully appointed house. The pool is fantastic, the food and wines are great, and the tranquility and night time star gazing are wonderful. Close to Chinon and easy access to all the delights of the Loire. Our second visit and we will absolutely be coming back again and again.

This place is MAGICAL! A truly *perfect* family getaway in a central Loire Valley location to explore the area. Charlotte and Jerome (and their 4 lovely kids) are the perfect hosts for this stunning chateau stay. My husband, 2yo daughter and I spent 2 weeks at Loire Valley Retreat. The accommodations are updated and modern, with the character of the 14th century chateau throughout. Each cottage has outdoor space and table in the large communal courtyard, which made for a lively and social setting (we really loved meeting the other families during our stay). The chateau grounds have a swing set, a lovely pool, a vineyard, and animals (lambs, a donkey, a bunny) which our 2yo loved. There’s also a huge playroom with tons of toys! Jerome and Charlotte have thought of everything. They hosted a weekly BBQ for guests (delicious and super fun), delivered fresh croissants and baguettes for breakfast, organized pizza delivery on Fridays and generally were always checking in to see how our stay was going. Jerome is a wine expert and hosted a wine tasting in the cellar which was super special. I can’t recommend this place highly enough! We can’t wait to come back!…

I stayed here for a week in June with my husband and two-year-old, and it was everything we wanted and more. Charlotte greeted us the moment we arrived, offering us a warm welcome and showing us around our extremely spacious apartment (Vigneron). It was 40 degrees when we arrived but she’d tried her best to keep the place as cool as possible for us - plus fans were provided in both our rooms, which were a huge relief. We’d also asked for the Dinner Hamper - which we can heartily recommend if you’re due in late in the day. It kept us well fed for several days; the delicious homemade leek and bacon quiche was even a winner with our fussy son! - and the Breakfast Hamper, which we’re still getting though two weeks on! Charlotte and Jerome also did a bakery run for us each morning, providing the most delicious buttery croissants for us to indulge in. The place was the absolute dream for our boy with loads of animals, excellent playroom, a lovely pool, and loads of safe places to run and explore. The location was also great for us, within easy reach of some of the region’s best chateaux. We also really liked the local town, Chinon, plenty of lovely shops and a great little market on Sunday. (There was a bigger one on Thursday, I think, but we didn’t make it to that one.) We would stay here again in a heartbeat, and have told everyone we know about it!…

Sue and I feel very lucky we were able to spend two weeks at the wonderful Loire Valley Retreat with our son, his wife and two grandchildren. Charlotte and Jérôme have created a lovely friendly "retreat" close to Chinon and within easy reach of the sites of the Loire. The gites are very well setup, with comfortable bedrooms and good bathrooms and kitchen. So what stood out on this great holiday? - the family friendly atmosphere and hugely welcoming style of Charlotte and Jérôme. Thanks to both of you.

We had a fantastic time at Charge in July 2018. Accommodation is spacious, modern, clean and family friendly with everything you could wish for. Dining outside in the courtyard and mingling with the other guests over a glass of local wine was a particular highlight. The optional organised catered evenings were well worth it. Every evening very different but all providing quality food and delicious wine at reasonable prices. Jerome and Charlotte are the ultimate hosts and completely understand what it takes to ensure that the whole family can relax and enjoy their holiday. The pool and garden are great for entertaining the children on-site and there are a wealth of attractions to visit in the vicinity. We are looking forward to our next visit already.

We have just experienced one of the best family holidays ever. This Retreat is an excellent family holiday location. Jérôme and Charlotte are excellent hosts. Spacious, fully equipped accommodation for self catering but the meal options on offer on certain days were tremendous. We thought the wine tasting that was done by Jérôme was marvellous and really impressed with his knowledge of wine and what is produced in the region. Charlotte had an excellent food hamper prepared for our arrival and we thought this was a very good idea for first night. Lots to do and see in the local area and hosts were able to advise for a family. From castle/museum visits, wine tasting routes, biopark and other family day trips out. Our holiday at this venue was hassle free, we found it very relaxing and simply loved the location. A massive thank you to Charlotte and Jérôme for providing us with a super family holiday and one where we have made lots of special memories. Outstanding holiday venue.…

This was our second visit to Charlotte and Jerome’s property and this one was as a family. These two cannot do enough to make your stay more comfortable. It started with reassuring emails from Charlotte pre travel to organise baby equipment, and with info about activities we could plan, nothing was too much trouble. Charlotte and Jerome provide an excellent ‘concierge’ service once you are there too and will arrange dinners, babysitters, bike hire beauty treatments etc etc etc for you. Understandably their local knowledge is extensive and as they have 4 children of their own, they are able to advise places to visit that will suit all ages and tastes. Onsite the indoor playroom (either twice weekly afternoon childcare included), outdoor play area, pool, animals etc. Kept everyone happy and the gites are well equipped. (Only thing I wish I had taken was a bath mat due to having an energetic one year old). And if you are a runner, the local scenery is just fabulous and Charlotte has a selection of local routes you can try out should you wish. My favourite part about staying here is the organised evening activities: wine tastings, children’s meals and the wonderful final night dinner which brings everyone together. Far from being awkward and ‘organised fun’, Charlotte and Jerome have the art of hosting down to a fine art and it just works perfectly in a relaxed fashion. And the children all end up playing together which allows the adults to relax. All aided by Jerome’s extensive knowledge, interest and collection of wine (adults only of course!) I can say with some certainty that we will be back. …

Booked in for 4 nights in this rustic property just outside of Chinon, with a party of 7. We really appreciated the generous amount of space on the property, including the use of the courtyard on the long summer evenings where our young boys could play sports and run about to work off energy. The apartments were well equipped with good functioning kitchens, dish washer and washing machine. Charlotte and Jerome hosted a very pleasant dinner with wine tasting, during which he brought out a bottle of aged Chinon from his own cellar. Charlotte also assisted my parents in receiving delayed baggage from the airline. The kids loved the stay here, with the outdoors, inquisitive farm animals and pets, wonderful breakfast, and open spaces. Highly recommended and would stay again if I was in the region.…

The charm and fun of Chateau de Charge goes far beyond the first 'wow' of the site and the buildings, the clean, comfortable, thoughtfully arranged 'gite' accommodations, the delicious, generous meals - Jerome and Charlotte made our group of nine friends feel so instantly at home that people began saying they were never going to leave 10 minutes after we arrived - and we never stopped saying it the whole week! The warmth and professionalism of their hosting is truly exceptional - I organized this trip and, from the beginning (months before), Jerome (who is also a wine negociant) went out of his way to help me find activities, people, transport, etc., that would fit out plans and give us access to special aspects of the Loire Valley that I wouldn't have found on my own. They are attentive but relaxed, allowing guests to feel comfortable and well taken care of while also being as independent as they wish. English and French are spoken.…
